  1. After dining at Gino's Pizza in Great Neck, it is safe to say that I would definitely return here when I am in the area. I dined here last week after my friend, who works in the area, wanted to meet me for lunch and suggested Gino's as he frequents it a lot and thought it would be a good place for us to meet. Once I parked in a nearby village lot, I walked over to Gino's and when I entered around noon, I found it to be very busy and very much like a traditional old-school pizzeria, with the pizza counter up front, where the gentlemen were churning out pizza for the waiting diners, stairs leading to a slightly more formal restaurant upstairs, and bench-style booths in the back dining room, where I ended up sitting. When I entered, I was greeted by a very sweet, welcoming, and hardworking waitress with long and frizzy dark hair, whose name escapes me at the moment and she was efficient in setting up the table and placed menus, making for a good first impression. Next, my friend a few minutes later and we were ready to eat! When the same waitress who greeted me came back again, I ordered a regular slice for about $3 in change if I remember correctly, a Diet Coke, and an Alfredo Salad for $9.25 plus grilled chicken for $3.50, as the waitress recommended this salad and the ingredients appealed to me while my friend ordered three regular slices. Not too much time later, the waitress came back with our meals and we were ready to dig in. I first tried the regular slice, which I found to be average in size, with melty and pleasantly salty cheese along with a sweet and tangy sauce. Since I am allergic to eggs and wheat, I cannot report on the crust as I only ate the cheese and sauce (which I have been doing with pizza for years, so don't worry). Speaking of eggs and wheat, I was happy to see that Gino's had gluten-free pasta available on the menu. I then tried the generously portioned  Alfredo Salad, which was even better than I expected, with tender and juicy grilled chicken, crisp mixed greens, red and ripe grape tomatoes, crunchy walnuts, tangy goat cheese, sweet and tart dried cranberries, and tart raspberry dressing, making for a satisfying and healthy lunch. My friend enjoyed his three slices too, so we were both satisfied. Before I left, I also used the restroom, which was very clean and well stocked. After a wonderful meal with my friend, our waitress and the gentlemen at the counter thanked us and wished us farewell, hoping we would come back again, which made us feel very welcome! Overall, I would definitely return to Gino's if I were in Great Neck as the food was very good, the prices were fair, and the service was excellent!

  2. 3 and 1/2 stars to this…place? Are you fucking kidding me?! I guess if your idea of good pizza is pre-made frozen crap, or biohazardous toxic waste, then yes, Gino's makes something not quite as toxic…but just barely.

VH and I happened to get two slices of Sicilian and garlic knots at this place, simply because everything else on this "secluded" street in Great Neck was closed (on a Friday night, at 8:30 PM…). It was either Gino's or Starbucks. So we gave Gino's a try.

Let me just say this: the food tastes exactly what you expect it to taste like by the way this place looks. Enough said. Jesus…

  3. Ahhhhh Gino's…the classic Great Neck spot.  Is it the best pizza in town?  No.  Is it the most popular?  Yes.

Look, it's your standard pizzeria, so don't expect extravagance.  Everyone in town knows Gino's, and I've been coming here for over 15 years.  The pizza is good, their house salad with cheese is a staple in every Great Necker's diet, and the other foods they have are standard (chicken parm, calzones, etc.).

They're fast, they're friendly, and if you want a sit-down dining experience, you can go to the "nicer" part of the restaurant upstairs but mind you, the prices there are slightly higher.  In this town, families come here for generations.  It's a family spot, it's a high school hangout, and it's a quick fix for any pizza or Italian cravings at a good price.

  4. Everything about this place was average. Including the 10$ minimum for credit cards.

Had a hard time understanding the guys when ordering and paying.

  5. 4 stars is for the gino's salad & garlic bread.

3 stars would be for pretty much everything else, and even 2 maybe for the upstairs dining. The one time I went there in the recent past, I asked for the bread they serve downstairs (as what they were serving me upstairs was different and burned) and the waiter said they don't serve any bread downstairs. While I didn't call the pizza bread by name, the waiter insisted I was incorrect and never replaced the bread. The rest of the meal followed suit and was mediocre.

Stick to the Gino's salad and you're in for a treat.

  6. I aint no pizza expert, but since I grew up in the good old US of A, I have had my fair share of pizzas and I think I can form an intelligent opinion on pizzas. This place was MEDIOCRE. It is not the best pizza I have ever had, and really it was not so memorable. If you think this place makes great pizza, then likely you have been deprived most of your life. We were trying to grab a quick bite before catching a movie, this place was one of the only places open since it was the Jewish New Year. We were reluctant and gave it a shot. Not much to our surprise, the pizza was blah. Desperate times calls for desperate measures.

  7. Gino's and the town of Great Neck go hand in hand. Chances are if you live here, then you've been coming to Gino's for as long as you can remember…for me, that's almost 20 years at this point. I went back yesterday for the first time in over a year, and was shocked to find that they had redid the seating area of the restaurant. The new booths are nicer and more modern, but there was something comforting about the older uglier interior :

While it's probably not the best pizza you've ever had, it's definitely good, and by far the most popular place in town. The cheese salad with their house dressing is unreal; get it as a side or on a salad slice of pizza. I'm also partial to the ziti, white, and vodka slices.

  8. Please open a location in NYC!!  The salad is A+ and renowned all over NYC.  The pizza cheese on top is a great touch.  The complimentary hot bread is delicious too.  The grandma slice is another favorite.  Can't go wrong with the chicken roll.
