It was fine, though I'm not sure why the exceptionally high rating. Perhaps we ordered the wrong things: I got a chirashi and Heather got just a sweet potato roll. The chirashi was ordinary. The sweet potato roll (made with tempura sweet potatoes) was rather bland.
That said, the food was served quickly by a kind, attentive waiter. Definitely can't do better in that department. Price was average. There was a smell in the restaurant that we didn't love.
After days of heavy eating from the holidays, my brothers and I wanted something light so we decided on sushi. I usually go to Kaito in Bronxville but we had never been to this place before and noticed it had high Yelp reviews, so we deiced to give it a try.
Located right off Central Ave, Kyo is a relatively small restaurant – there are a few tables situated along one side of the restaurant with the sushi bar on the opposite side. The decor is simple – light wooden tables and chairs which works well with the overall theme.
We started with some shu-mai which were lightly steamed and tasted great. For my main I decided on two rolls: the tiger roll which consisted of crabmeat, avocado, tobiko, and shrimp tempura with spicy mayo, and the midori roll which consisted of avocado, cucumber, and chicken tempura with a green Peruvian sauce. Both rolls were super fresh – they tasted great and were high quality.
Service was awesome – everyone was really friendly and made sure we were taken care of. My only gripe with this place was all the food did not come out at the same time; my brother's entree came out first, followed 5 mins later by one of my brother's rolls, followed lastly around 7 minutes later by the rest of my brother's second rolls and my two rolls. I can overlook it though because the service was superb and the food was awesome. Definitely a place I would return to!
Quality sushi, excellent service, great presentation, metered parking lot across the street, fair prices, free green tea. We came on a weekday night and food was served quickly and we didn't have to wait for seating.
We ordered the sushi deluxe and the maki combo (choice of 3 rolls – I ordered the spicy yellowtail, spicy tuna, and salmon and cucumber) and enjoyed it all. Food came out quick as well. Would definitely return.
I eat here every month and have ordered many things from the menu. The spicy yellowtail and rainbow roll are my favorites. Its consistently fresh and delicious. Decor/ambiance is traditional and casual. Staff is always friendly and accommodating.
Kyo is that cute and cozy-feeling restaurant in the Hartsdale Strip. Service is speedy here and you will not wait long for your order. Kyo' food is authentic AND most importantly, it's entirely Japanese!!
Tonight, we decided to order take out, we ordered Miso Soup, Eel Roll, Salmon/ Avocado Roll and Spider Roll.
Kyo's sushi is well made and they do not cut corners on their seafood. Always a plus for me.
This place is super-fast, super-friendly. It offers reasonably-priced Japanese sushi, lovely presentation, feels fresh. The fried rice is really, really delicious too. Definitely will go back!
For our first meal, we had a great Tekka Don Buri, with sashimi piled up on top of a bowl of rice. All the rolls we had (winnie, sakura, california) are very good too. The steamed green yasai veggies was mixed vegetables — only $3.95.
Only one item I would NOT recommend: the vegetable gyoza. These dumplings are small, flat and the little bit of filling inside is mush. Have no idea what it was.
All 3 sushi orders were well made. My wife liked it so it's a winner in my book. The kids also had a great time.
Tiger roll was really the most creative I've seen so far
I was surprised at how good the sushi was. I usually go to Ichiro in White Plains but am totally making the switch to Kyo. The spring roll I ordered was delicioussssss! No joke I started eating it while I was driving home because it smelled so good. In addition to the spring roll I ordered the tiger and volcano roll, and a maki combo. Seems a bit aggressive but my eyes are bigger than my stomach. Both rolls tasted fresh and I really enjoyed them. The maki combo (eel avocado, salmon avocado and spicy tuna), all were good too. For the price you can't beat it!
I definitely plan on going back and recommend this place for people who live nearby.
