  1. Mmmm I could eat here every day. I knew when I found out I was going to New York that I wanted to go to eataly to eat at least once. We were there for 3 days about, and we ended up going here twice! Everything was amazing, the pasta, the ravioli, the pizza, the gnocchi. Amazing. In large cities where options are pretty much endless I have a hard time going to the same place twice. I want to experience it all. But this was where we decided to go on our last day after all of the other disappointed meals we had at other establishments. The service was fantastic. The food incredible. If I had one complaint, it would simple be that the tables feel a bit cramped. Nothing I can't deal with though. I will be back whenever I get the chance to go back to New York. In fact I may just have to find a hotel that is as close as possible! Well… Maybe not, that could be dangerous for my wallet… And my waist line… Mmmm carbs!

  2. Obviously the pasta at Mario Batali's temple of food is superb. We split the penne with sausage and spring onions and the bucatini amatriciana – both of which were perfectly cooked and seasoned, again, obviously. We also ordered the salumi misti (which was initially forgotten and then brought with our main courses). Decent wine selection. The wait is pretty long I think no matter when you go, but Eataly is not a bad place to wander around and kill time while you wait. VERY loud, as the tables are right by the kitchen, which is fun to watch, but definitely an echoey and loud atmosphere.

  3. I was looking for a pasta restaurant within Eataly and stumbled upon this one. I would say it's not too different from other Italian places. It's a bit on the pricey side for the portion sizes so it definitely falls into the tourist trap category. I still give this joint 4 stars for the fun experience and nice staff.

  4. I was much more impressed with La Pizza and La Pasta than Il Pesce. I found the latter to be overpriced and not filling, while La Pizza and La Pasta was much more reasonable! I had the pizza topped with artichokes, mushrooms, and prosciutto, and it was delicious ($19). I tried a piece of my friend's sausage and mushroom pizza and was even more impressed with the flavors! The pizzas are very thin, so one pizza is the perfect portion for one.

I was debating between pizza and pasta for a while, but after looking at pictures and reading the ingredients, the pizza selection definitely looked a lot more impressive than the pasta selection.

  5. Long waiting time (15-30 mins average for lunch). You can put your name on the wait list first, then go wondering around.

I tried homemade Coca Pappardelle with wild boar. It's a very rich pasta dish with good sauce. It's above average, but it's not like the most amazing pappardelle I've ever tried.

The Capricciosa pizza with thin crust is actually really good. I love the fresh mozzarella and delicious prosciutto + artichokes, mushrooms and olives.

Don't miss out on the wide assortment of interesting imported sodas and tonics.   Dry pomegranate soda is fantastic, not too sweet.

Overall, it's a good dining experience because walking around Di Etaly will make you really hungry 🙂

  6. One of the restaurants inside of Eataly! It's in the back corner next to the fresh pasta section. We came around 9PM on a Friday night and the wait was still an hour! We opted to wait since none of us were too hungry yet and it was our first time at Eataly, and it would give us a chance to check it out!

The menu consists of… pizza and pasta!!!! (and appetizers). We got four pastas to share among the five of us. We got the pappardelle, calamari, pasta al forno, and bucatini! There is complimentary bread that is served after you order. They pour some olive oil for you to dip it in – you have to ask for the balsamic if you want it. The bread was average, would be better if served warm!

Pappardelle: Had lamb and mint in it – I know it's a popular combination, but never had it before, so it was a little weird to me at first, but after a couple of bites, it was addicting!

Calamari: Ringed pasta with an assortment of seafood – this was probably my least favorite dish because it was a lot more fishy than I thought it was going to be, but it was my mom's favorite dish because it had so much of that seafood flavor! It really depends on your preference. Once again, the pasta was cooked perfectly and there was an ample amount of seafood in the dish.

Pasta Al Forno: Lasagna! SO delicious!!! The pasta was thin and there were so many layers, and just having all the layers in one bite was so satisfying. Definitely one of the better lasgnas I've had.

Bucatini: It may seem like your typical meat sauce pasta on paper, but in real life, it's amazing! One of my biggest worries about meat sauce with pasta is that it will be mushy, and this is not! When they say they cook it al dente, they mean it. There was a slight bite to the bucatini, making it a delight to eat!

All the portions for the pasta were good, the five of us left stuffed. Overall, excellent place to try and have an experience at! Saw a couple pizzas come out and they looked equally as amazing – so that's a must try next time!

  7. I've eaten at Manzo, Il Pesce, the Bierriera and at La Pizza and La Pasta.  La Pizza and La Pasta is by far my favorite.  On this visit I had the Pizza Genovese which is a pesto pizza topped with fresh mozzarella and proscuitto  Excellent!

I was dining alone and was seated at the end of the counter right next to the expeditor's stand so it was pretty fun just to watch how they get so much pasta out, so quickly.  A well oiled machine everyone was in good sync with runners grabbing a plate only to have the next dish arrive right on its heels.

Yes, it is trendy and yes, there is better pizza in NYC but Eataly is the whole experience, not just the meal.

  8. I stopped here for dinner after browsing through all the delicious sections of Eataly.  There was a wait at the hostess desk but I was there alone so I was seated right away at the counter.  The wait staff was extremely attentive and friendly and helped me choose a delicious red wine and settle on the "penne" pasta dish with gluten free pasta.  It took a while for the food to come out because of how busy it was but it was definitely worth the wait once it arrived.  The pasta dish featured sweet sausage and brussel sprouts, and I topped it off with a healthy amount of shaved parmesan.  The gluten free pasta used in the dish was cooked al dente and had all the great qualities of regular flour pasta, which is hard to come by.  The portion was huge, but the environment was so casual and laid back that I ended up staying for quite some time and ended up finishing the entire dish.  I was so full after the meal, but it was well worth it!
