I've come here before. Still the same owner. I had a pepperoni slice and 6 garlic knots.
The slice was ok, pepperoni had a funny taste.
The garlic knots where disgusting. Not fresh at all. Actually made me sick that night where I threw up.
I cant remember the last time I threw up because of what I ate.
Quantity vs quality hmm sorry Frank, but the former wins here easily. The emphasis lies in satisfying the tum tum rather than the taste buds.
Enormous selection of specialty pies. Wide range of all your favorite Italian delights, unfortunately this place isn't all that overly delightful. Classic let's fill em up and they'll be happy philosophy. Now don't get me wrong I've never had a bad meal or slice here and the portions are sizeable and priced fairly well. I just never had anything that I'd consider da bomb or exceptional for those slang challenged. Decent place to bring the kids with plenty of booths to keep them barricaded in.
Not a date night destination by any means. Some of the specialty slices are pretty good, they've been a little inconsistent, but if you catch em on a good day you will he happy. Typically a quick bite/ slice on the go is more the moniker.
big variety of pizzas, strombolis, sicilian pizzas, pasta entrees, desserts, etc.. tried broccoli rabe and margerita, both good. order at the counter place in a strip mall. there is a decent sized tv with sports on. the place seems to be fairly popular. compettition is stiff since north jersey has a pizza/italian place every few meters, all within more or less spitting distance of each
other .
Fast…Clean…Friendly…Efficient…Pizza…Thin Crust…Good…Meatball parm…Extra cheese…Extra sauce…Very good…
GO….GO now…
Ahh, a delicious staple I've always enjoyed throughout the years: and today was no different!
A bustling place on a Saturday afternoon — not jam packed, but a steady influx of business that keeps the workers bustling and the turnover high. Pizza seemed fresh and looked hearty and delicious on display.
The workers were so nice! I walked in, someone immediately made eye contact and greeted me. Even though I was looking at the food and figuring out my order, he patiently waited for me — people had walked in behind me, but he was still going to make sure I was helped first. I thought that was especially thoughtful. As we got our slices and garlic bread and was about to leave, both workers were in the front and said goodbye to us. Very friendly!
Veggie pizza — so loaded with veggies, it had some hefty weight! But it always wasn't a crispy crust, because it kept flopping due to the veggies.
Mushroom pizza — plenty of mushrooms, could taste a piece in every bite.
Plain pizza – pretty generic. Not thin or thick crust, a perfect balance.
Garlic bread — really buttery, almost drenched in it — when you take a bite, it kind of drips! Not a lot of garlic flavor or bits, so I wouldn't get it again. Truthfully, I could buy my own loaf of bread and butter it up and it would be the same!
Large seating area, mostly tables, but some booths. The further you go in, there are even more tables, but I can tell that it's possible they turn that space into a private party area when the time calls. Good family friendly establishment, and plenty of parking in the shared shopping mall. However, because of ShopRite, parking can sometimes be difficult to find.
Slightly above average prices on slightly above average pizza. For a quick regular slice Franks is good. When you start getting in the $7 8$ range for 2 specialty slices I'd rather just get a big sub or some small pie to have leftovers. My dad knows the owner from "old school Brooklyn" he told me.
What prevents me from giving them more stars is the reason my girlfriend doesn't eat here anymore. She used to love the penne vodka (requested with no prosciutto). Well one day we walk in I order something and she orders penne vodka no prosciutto. The guy behind the counter explains that the red sauce is always cooked with meat in it in general…..WHAT?! SOOOO my girlfriend hasn't been back to Franks in 5 years and I now frequent less because of it.
Frank's Pizza has some of the best tasting pizza in central NJ. Just walking into the restaurant and looking at all of the different pies on the counter will make you hungry.
My wife and I have gone here for years. We usually sit in the back dining area and order off the menu. Besides the pizza, all of the various Italian dishes we've tried has always been good.
I recommend Frank's for more then just the pizza.
Ooooh wee – did they say garlic knot sandwich with mozz and roasted peppers?? Really??? How can anyone turn that down?! It was pretty darn delicious, and yes my breath was kicking after, but it was sooo worth it. My fiance got one of their gigantic, meat packed rolls and it was pretty tasty. I was very impressed that we were able to stroll in at 5 minutes before they closed and everything tasted fresh still.
They also have some pretty freaking gigantic rice balls that I was also tempted to try. I definitely will stop back here if I'm in the neighborhood again.
