Solid food. Came to this neighborhood spot with friends for the first time today. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was very good. Both salad we ordered- crab & avocado and pear were outstanding. The crab & avocado was my favorite part of the meal. My spaghetti and meatballs was decent, took home left overs. The only criticisms are- I prefer my silverware switched between courses AND I'm not a fan of packaged butter and sealed bread sticks in the bread basket. Overall a good experience – will return.
All I keep thinking about is my sisters fettucine alfredo, and it's creamy goodness. Handmade fettucine, all different cuts of it. I can drown in the sauce and use the fettucine as my blanket.
Also the pear and arugula salad with goat cheese and caramelized walnuts was crispy crunchy yummy goodness. When I eat this I feel like a kid eating marshmallows.
The only thing I hate is that I walk in and have a the whole place looking at my sisters and me. Yes we are under 30, and everyone else there was retired. I felt like flashing them to be honest.
Oh and there's only 1 bathroom. I waited behind an 65 year old lady, you can imagine.
Best part about Beccofino is the laid back atmosphere. They were not at all pushy during our two hour dinner, most of which was spent looking at wedding venues for my girlfriend.
We started with the eggplant parmesan- which had the perfect proportion of eggplant and cheese. They even split it on to two plates, which was a thoughtful touch.
My main course was the Bolognese- delicious red sauce with a huge amount if meat. It was so much food that I took half home. Bride to be had the Chicken Francese, also huge portion, and came with potatoes and vegetables. Beccofino is a stand-out in the otherwise quiet Riverdale neighborhood. Just be ready to park at a meter. Only downside was that while I was parked waiting in my car, someone arrived to pick up their Beccofino take out, parked in front of me, and hit me while pulling out, then drove away. Thankfully they were going slow, but he was not my favorite Beccofino patron.
