Surprisingly good place I happened to discover on Flatbush on a Saturday night no less! Been here twice, bith times on a Saturday night around 7.
First thing, don't be put off by the less than attractive, hole in the wall exterior and take out/ bar area when you first enter. There us a surprisingly large dining area at the back. Usually empty so you can seat yourself.
Ambiance…Let's be honest, this IS NOT a 5 star, cordon bleu restaurant, casual is the name of the game. Takeout/bar area at the front with tvs. Simple seating area with 2 large tvs at the back.
Service…
Been here twice, 2 different waitresses and they were both PHENOMENAL. Friendly, funny, and very helpful and attentive. At one point I believe it was a manager who came out to enquire about our meal and the service, which we assured him was fabulous!
Food…
We had a few appetizers. The 2 types of boneless chicken wings (teriyaki and spicy bbq), cheddar pepper poppers and guacamole. Loved everything, especially the guacamole. You could tell it was freshly prepared and they didn't skimp on it.
We also had the Mucho Nachos with beef, Mucho Nachos with guac for the vegetarian of the group and Chicken Platter. Large servings of everything. The chicken platter came with rice and beans. Chicken had a really nice flavor to it. My companions loved the nachos. Lots of beef and guac and peppers. I would give it a 4 out of 5. Just my personal preference, I don't like melted cheese on my nachos. Just looks like a runny mess to me.
For dessert we had the tres leches cake which was out of this world delicious.
Drinks…
3 Long Island Iced Teas that were sweet, strong and NOT filled to the brim with ice. $10. a pop. Not bad.
1 Virgin Pina Colada that was kinda meh. Very icy and not enough pina colada taste to it. It was a total miss BUT considering the entirety of the meal, I can let em slide on this one (of course I wasn't the one drinking it sooo….I could afford to be generous as I sipped my delicious iced tea.)
Sadly, to add insult to my non drinking friend's agony, they didn't get their coffee order in so she couldn't get any type of coffee either. Um…don't know what to say about that except when I was here previously, the cappuccino I DID have was excellent.
PRICING….
VERY reasonable. Appetizers averaged $5-6, coctails $10, entrees $10-20. Portions large. Great bang for your buck.
All in all I would definitely return here when I'm in the mood for Mexican and don't want to go to far afield.
OK, I admit I did a little rating inflation here to counter the haters, I'd really give Paco's more of a four. But I've been going here for a year and a half, and the food is always so good, I seriously don't get how people are so pissed and giving such nasty reviews.
I went tonight with my favorite cousin to get drinks and pick up food. The service is SUPER friendly, my cousin got a delicious glass of sangria and I just got a Seagrams neat because it was too damn cold out for me to take anything cooler. Our food order arrived pretty quickly, a vegetarian quesadilla for me, a steak burrito for her, a bean burrito for my man waiting at home. I immediately threw everything in the oven because dinner has to be piping hot for me to eat it, and I think I have to do that with their food every time from now on, because with the added heat the flavors were bursting (spinach, mushrooms, peppers, onions and cheese). I've had the bean burrito before and liked that a lot too, but I think I'm going to get the quesadilla every time from now on because even tastier. My cousin also gave the thumbs up for her steak burito. For the prices and portions, it was pretty impressive.
From the other times I've been to Paco's, I'd say the burritos and quesadillas definitely beat the tacos (a bit ironic, I know) and the guacamole isn't particularly noteworthy. No cilantro? Boo 😛
If you ever stop in for drinks with friends, especially in the summertime, I highly recommend a pitcher of their frozen margaritas. I got mango last summer with a few friends, and it was delicious, and really fun because they gave us mason jars for serving, and at the time there seemed to be something hilarious about that. Maybe you had to be there to get it. So basically, just go there – cheap, delicious food, delicious drinks, filling portions, what's not to like?
Have only tried there mozzarella sticks and taquitos but they were pretty amazing! Will definitely be going back and consuming some more food! Nice backyard seating area outside! Waited a long time but didn't mind because it was a nice atmosphere!
We ordered delivery: an empanada, a fully-loaded burrito, a sandwich with french fries, and a piece of cheesecake. The delivery service was faster than expected. The burrito, cheesecake, and empanada were okay — not great but not bad. The sandwich, however, was made with dry, stale-tasting bread, and absolutely saturated with grease on the bottom bun. Not even edible. I tried to eat the insides of the sandwich, but the meat was also greasy but oddly dry. We likely won't be ordering again but, if we do, absolutely no sandwiches.
So I went here with a couple of friends because I've seen the last in passing. Never again! Not soon after we were seated we saw a roach! It was shocking but I convinced my friends to stay. Once it was time to order I asked the waitress about a particular pork dish and she had no clue what I was talking about. I ordered it anyway. I never had bad Mexican food until then! The driest burrito ever. We made the most of it. Got tipsy and left. I will not be returning.
I've always come to this Pacos Tacos location for takeout, but I came the past couple of times to eat in and I'm happy I did, the food taste even better when you dine in.
As soon as we got there we were able to be seated, and given menus right away. Our server took our drink orders and gave us some time to look over the menu. As an appetizer we got the chicken empanadas and the chicken and cheese quesadillas. They were both delicious and tasted fresh and made to order. As an entree I got the steak house salad and the two other people I were with got burritos. The salad was huge, and they give such a big portion of steak, it was sooooo good. The burritos were also really big and really affordable, I tried to pork one and it was delicious.
I also ordered a couple of frozen mango margaritas which were great, I was craving one and they really hit the spot, I could of stayed for more LOL .
The service is great and all staff is so friendly, this type of atmosphere plus to amazing food means that I'll definitely be back.
Paco's Tacos has an adequate meatless nondairy choice suitable for vegans: a sauteed veggie platter consisting mostly of green peppers and less of onions, spinach, and mushrooms. It's served with yellow rice, black beans, just 2 pieces of plantain, and a tiny portion of pico de gallo. Sangria has fresh sweet fruit and a nice kick. There's a clean and pleasant dining room in the back and outdoor seating in the yard. Service is okay.
Ordering through Yelp, not a problem.
Picking it up, slight problem.
My food was ready earlier than expected, which was great.
Order just left on the counter with no one behind, anyone could've picked up & walked out.
Plus my full name and information was on the paper that was stapled to the order.
Now, there was a hair in my order of taquitos.
No, it wasn't mine. My hair is curly & in braids so it's impossible that it was my hair.
That just disgusted me.
I kind of didn't want to eat my burrito after that, but I didn't want to waste my money either.
The stuffed grilled chicken burrito was meh. Had to use all 3 packets of hot sauce they provided to get through it. It was lacking in flavor.
I was also given a random container of cheese sauce.
I guess it was for the hairy taquitos.
I should've just went to Chipotle.
