  1. In the area and around the corner at a hotel, my innards were screaming for food.  As I so often do, I happened upon this place due to solid Yelp reviews.  This is a small establishment that packs huge flavor in their meals.  The prices are right and the service is friendly and quick.  Not that I'm in that area often, but this spot warrants a special trek.

  2. GREAT portions and price. Really love the chips and guac but my chicken burrito was a little underwhelming. I found the seasoning just a little bland on it, not great texture. HOWEVER totally excited to try this place again, maybe get tacos or a diff. burrito.

  3. I can't even begin to describe how great this place is. Everything from the food to the ambiance to the friendly and fast service–this place is a real gem!

A precocious, adorable fifth grader took my and my friend's order. She was very professional and even brought out fresh, delicious chips and salsa to munch on while we waited for our take out.

Once home, I inhaled my veggie burrito (and, yum! how many places make their veggie burritos with quality ingredients like zucchini?!). About halfway through, I said to my friend, "This is California good!!" Which is my highest compliment for any taqueria. Now, it would be great if instead of just pinto beans they also had a black bean option (for the burrito; they have black beans in their platters, so probably would've switched the beans if I'd asked), but I'm very happy with what they serve.

    Will be back!!

  4. Have you ever drunkenly stumbled into a place, ordered something to soak up the booze, and then spent months trying to remember where you got that dope lengua burrito?

I've never been so happy to recognize a restaurant I thought I'd never been to. When I picked this spot, I was just looking for not-brunch food during brunch hours and on the way to an apartment viewing. The feelings I felt when I realized I'd been here before are indescribable.

It's a small space, super narrow with seating along one wall. A cooler display at the front shows you all your beverage options (every flavor of Jarritos).

The menu is pretty typical, and if the protein you want isn't listed under the dish you want, just ask — they'll do it (I like to lengua everything).

    The food —
Oh man. I like to think I'm a taco connoisseur, a taconnoisseur, if you will. My boyfriend and I have traipsed through Brooklyn, sampling tacos from all the sketchest hole-in-the-walls/street carts. But this place — it obliterates the competition. Absolute, total destruction.

He ordered a brunch dish I'll never be able to pronounce, but it had chorizo and eggs and black beans. Even the beans were top notch, with just the right amount of cojita sprinkled on top.

I had a shrimp quesadilla, doused in the green hot sauce they provide. This isn't your Taco Bell quesadilla — this is legit. The tortilla, housemade, delicately folded over to conceal the delicious shrimp and avocado and cheese inside.

I also had the lengua taco because I can never say no to lengua. The tacos are perfect. Cactus and onion lightly sauteed, lovingly spooned over the melty beefy lengua perfection, a few cilantro shreds sprinkled on top and wrapped up in 2 perfect, warm tortillas.

Downside: no booze, but sometimes I need that.
