“Definitely not cheap, but the rooftop nice view, the ambience and good cocktails make it worth every penny!”

“With a perfect clear view to the Manhattan downtown and a direct sight to the new freedom tower, it's hard to compete.”

“The food is actually from David Burke Kitchen which is downstairs in the hotel so I do hope to be more wowed next time.”

  1. Came here for a fashion week after party and had a great time!! The bar is really nice and even though its small you get that coZy and warm feeling. Everyone is just there to have a good time and everyone did. The views are amazing, freedom tower, empire state building, all great! Music is good too. Overall it has a chill ambience to just have a drink and hangout without being pretentious. Really enjoyed it!!

  2. Really cool view at the rooftop bar. Standard high prices for drinks but in line with other venues of the same quality.

  3. I read a few scary reviews before committing to the Jimmy weekend pool party, so I was prepared for the worst–the alleged brazen bouncers, snooty crowd, warlocks, witches, and goblins. Maybe it was their weekend off, but no one of that nature was present the day I went.

Arrived around 3, showed ID and got in with ease. Elevator came promptly. I was prepared for the overpriced cocktails, so I ordered beer. The 'pool' is more of an aesthetic than functional, but we still eased right in–and coaxed some others to join the fun. The views were beautiful. The music was background noise. We stayed all of two hours? If that much. Super chill vibes. I'd probably go later towards the evening where it's possibly more of a 'party' if I do consider this again. Unless I'm looking for a mellow, chit-chat by the pool kind of deal.

  4. Small but festive rooftop. Good views etc. One of the two bartenders was an a-hole, the other was an angel. Next time we'd like to get two of the latter, if it so pleases the Jimmy.

  5. Cool pool rooftop bar of The James Hotel! Obviously the pool is small and not really for swimming. The bar has both indoor and outdoor seatings. Outside def have fantastic view of NJ and downtown.

Bouncer was really confusing he wouldn't let anyone in without a reservation or on the guest list. But after waiting for 10min (no line) he decided to let me go up and said I aggregated him  with asking the question of is it because that my outfit doesn't fit their dress code… I was so confused…

The mixed drink is $18-20, not too bad for a rooftop bar. Service is a bit slow but they are friendly.

  6. Came here last Saturday for birthday drinks for a friend. Views were great, drinks were overpriced ($18 for a vodka soda), and the hostess was insufferably rude.  She was literally staring people up and down as they walked past her.  It baffles me why people like that choose the service industry.  These stars are for the DJ alone, the music was on point.  It would have been worth a second visit if it wasn't for the terrible interaction with the bitchy hostess.

  7. This place has really gorgeous views however getting a drink is almost impossible any night of the week. There is always such a long line at the bar and there's only one bar in the entire place. It literally takes almost 30 minutes to get your drink. It's insane. And also as for the outdoor roof– it gets packed pretty quickly and you probably won't find a place to sit. The prices are also extremely expensive for food or drinks. I came here on a random Wednesday and it was extremely packed. But I've got to say after reading other reviews — I didn't find it hard to get into- the bouncers were not douchey and I had no problems getting in. But I was also here on a Wednesday.

They also should probably consider opening up another bar and having a couple more bartenders. The wait is just ridiculous. But if you're willing to wait, the drinks are worth it in the view is really gorgeous so it's worth checking out on a nice hot summer day.

  8. The drinks are expensive, the doormen are annoying, and the vibe is slightly douchey, but damn the rooftop view is amazing and the decor is gorgeous. This is definitely a spot to take family/friends from out of town if you're in the area and want a picturesque rooftop experience.
