  1. I have always been a firm supporter of family owned businesses.  Unfortunately, this particular experience was quite disappointing.

The restaurant itself is nicely decorated.  I loved the colors and the open kitchen.  There's even a nice little outdoor seating area for guests to take in the weather.

The food was where it all fell apart.  To be fair, the table side guacamole was solid.  However, once you take away the table side gimmick, it's not really one of those items that requires much cooking…

The enchiladas didn't really have any flavor other than salt.  I got the mixed (one beef/one chicken).  I could tell which was which from the color and texture, however, the flavor was honestly not that distinct between the two… The steak tacos were also dry and tough despite the nice presentation.

Finally, I ended up with an upset stomach about an hour or two after I finished everything.  I was eating the same things as everything else during the day except for this meal, so something wasn't quite right here…

  2. I was spoiled in Brooklyn with delicious Mexican food close to my apartment.  The burbs of north Jersey do not have such great authentic Mexican food.  But Riviera Maya has a very good cemita.  Only drawback is they only have breaded chicken or breaded beef.  So all the chorizo and steak lovers will have to deal.

The space itself is actually quite lovely with an outdoor space and a courtyard.

  3. Randomly situated in bogota on the border of Teaneck and it has a great outdoor patio, though not good for large parties out there. The service is a 5.. (Omar was an excellent server with honest recommendations) the food is about a 3.5…

    The fresh guac is delicious!
The chicken fajitas were in a sauce, which was different. It was a large, but not the typically sizzling pan type of fajitas that I was hoping for.  The side of rice and beans it came with was sadly on the blan side.  My friend paella was delicious in flavor but the seafood didn't seem well cleaned; there was sand in almost all the clams.

But again, great outdoor Byob option with delicious guacamole and awesome service. I'd certainly come back again and try some other options!

  4. Love this place. Super charming and great outdoor seating! I've been twice and yet something is holding me back from giving them the 5 stars… Not sure what it is yet…maybe because both times I went it was early mid week and it was a bit empty. However, I certainly leave there satisfied. Its BYOB which is amazing, and the place is SUPER DUPER cute. The second you walk in you feel like you're walking through a Mexican paradise. I've sat inside and outside, both equally charming. I've gotten table side guac and it is truly delicious. It is a GREAT spot for celebrating something special or a just a night out.

This place is truly a diamond in the rough. Its' immediate surrounding areas do not reflect this gem. As I previously stated, once you walk through the door of this place it takes you to a new world. The food is also truly impressive. I've tried a lot of the menu, as my boyfriend and I usually go out with another couple. Everything was incredibly flavorful.

I think the next time I visit this place, if they keep up their amazing service, I might have to bump them to 5 stars. Check em out and let me know what you think!

  5. TAKE OUT REVIEW:

Ordered twice from here and every time I really enjoy the food. Still hot, not soggy, and all the ingredients are high quality stuff. quick delivery.

    So far I've tried:
Tacos: steak- great, chicken-okay, beef- wouldn't recommend really boring, pastor- the best. ask for extra green sauce.. its crack..

Super burrito: (steak) awesome. bf didn't like it doesn't you couldn't hold it like a chipotle burrito, you have to cut it and eat it with a fork because its covered with stuff and cheese and the works. but the inside.. orgasmic. the steak is cooked perfectly. tender and bursts of flavor

Guac & Chips: awesome. exactly how I like my guac, with tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and jalapenos. (but not super spicy) its really good. and I think the chips are homemade. thumbs up for real.

Burrito: Chicken & beef (only two options) they come with 2 just tortillas with just meat inside and the rice, beans, salad on the side on a platter. so not the traditional style of burrito. just a heads up. bf again didnt like it only cause it was  a traditional burrito set up. But he can't deny that it tasted great. Just not what he was hoping for.

anddddd last but definitely not least.. *drum rollssss****

TRES LECHES…. god damn. I've never had tres leches like that before. I really can't put it in words. Its so moist that it almost doesn't taste like cake… you need to try it. JUST TRY IT. you will not regret it. and for those who don't like super sweet desserts. ( I'm one of those people… which is why I was hesitant in getting it, but the reviews persuaded me) its not too sweet its just perfect. MUST MUST MUST TRY!

  6. This food was surprisingly delicious! The enchiladas had a great sauce, where just cooked really well. I got the vegetable and beef and both were awesome with good flavors. The nachos had lots of stuff on it, only not enough chips- but thankfully they gave us more! The waitstaff was friendly and it was a pleasing environment to sit in.

  7. Service is the reason why I am giving this place even two stars. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was nice. However very disappointed in the food.

I ordered the super burrito…it looked AMAZING however when i cut into it…i didnt reach any rice, beans, steak until the very middle. It was filled with 90 percent lettuce. If you are ok with paying 16 dollars for a lettuce wrap, this is for you.

My wife got the grilled chicken salad. It came out on a small plate.  The chicken was EXTREMELY charred and dry.

I have only heard good things about this place however we were very disappointed in the food.  Service and atmosphere again was good. We probably will not be back again.

  8. Great family restaurant! Went here for my sister's birthday with a party of 23 people, they were able to accommodate and serve us with a delicious meal. I highly recommend trying their live-guac appetizer and pork tacos. I had the beef quesadillas with their home-made spicy chipotle sauce!
