I was excited to see that the space was under new management and had generated some good reviews. Unfortunately I wasn't impressed. It's an "order at the counter, seat yourself" type of place, so I was never expecting anything more than decent, burrito/taco type fare.
Where it failed was the sum of the parts never coming together. A good burrito should sing, be it a simple harmony or a complex orchestra. 3 big bites into my steak burrito, all I got was strips of somewhat dry beef.
I was just about ready to go back to the counter and ask for some salsa that I could pour in an moisten things up, but recalled that while ordering there was salsa added in, since I was asked about mild vs. heat. During bite 4, I hit it. A big glob of fiery sauce that was almost overwhelming. I like hot/spicy, but it needs to be mingled. In this case, it absolutely dominated my next few bites.
The menu promised guac/cream, grilled onions and other components that never really pronounced themselves. I also got a side of beans, which was served in a big take-out bowl that was a tad bit large for a lunch serving. Bottom line: I'd like this place to work because it's somewhat near. Likewise, whomever made their salsa isn't afraid to bring the heat. I simply hope they learn to better balance and blend the components.
I ordered a platter with a taco and enchilada from seamlessweb. It came pretty quickly (which it should have since I live around the corner). Unfortunately they didn't give me any silverware or napkins, and I was all out of napkins so that turned into a huge mess. The food was ok, but nothing special at all. I paid $2 for guacamole and it was obviously not homemade and came in a tiny container just like the salsa and sour cream. Definitely worth $0.50 if anything. I won't be ordering from here again. There are better options in Windsor Terrace (think Elora's).
I have to say, while it may not be the best burrito or taco I have had, they generally listen to my specifications, AND they are timely. The delivery servers are friendly, and I just don't have a negative thing to say. Low minimum on seamless, so you can definitely order for one, and they stay open pretty late too!
Also, I love their non-fat yogurt dip as an alternative to sour cream! I get the corn filling tacos with non fat yogurt and I actually feel pretty good after eating it, which can't be said about all Mexican late night options.
