  1. I had a good dinner here. Not the best, but I went home satisfied. I opted for the pre fixe menu, and the courses did not impress at first but picked up steam as they went along.

    We started with one of their house reds, a tasty blend. The french onion soup however, was not. It was pretty bland. Also the cheese was slightly burnt and stuck to the bowl.

    The rest of the appetizers were a bit better. The stuffed clams were so-so, I would not recommend really. The calamari was A-OK.

    The night picked up when dinner came out. My sliced filet mignon was very good! The peppercorns added a lot to the dish. This was the highlight of my meal. I finished with a creme brulee that I did enjoy, but the steak was the best food I ate that night.

    I have not been back here in a while, but I would not be opposed to dropping in again.

  2. Won a gift card at a tricky tray, had a night off from my toddler so I went with my Mom for dinner. The place is very trendy and inviting. We sat by the fireplace which could be very romantic, we chose it for warmth. The service was prompt and pleasant. The food was good as you would expect though for a local place in the middle of nowhere in Bergen County, it was pricey. The $100 gift card didn't even cover the cost of our 2 meals. We didn't even get the trout special for $42. I guess they think they are in NYC. But this place could be a 5 for me if the prices matched the meals. The food was good but not special enough for those obscene prices. If you wanted to go there for the bar scene that was definitely hopping and lively. I'd go back but there would have to be an occasion that's special!

  3. Bone in filet mignon? Music to my ears.

    After a long day our party ordered food to go and was not disappointed.

    Perfectly rare filet mignon, sliced Peter Luger's style; still crispy fries and onion rings, plump garlic-y shrimp, and out of this world truffle mac and cheese, we were all happy campers.

    Would love to dine in sometime!

  4. Went here last night for my birthday.  

    7:30 reservations.  

    Place was empty with the exception of 2 other tables and it stayed that way until we left at 10

    Place is decorated beautifully.  Bar is gorgeous albeit empty.  

    Once seated we were given a bread basket of warmbread and very hard butter.  Bread had a freezer burn aftertaste.  

    We started with a bunch of apps.   Bacon, mussels, and one other that slips my mind.  All were excellent.  

    All of our entrees came with a salad and it was delish.  

    3 of us ordered the rib eye and one tuna.  

    I ordered black and blue and that's how it came out.  Steak was well seasoned and just simply gorgeous.  

    We ordered a bunch of sides as well.

    Mushrooms, asparagus, broccoli rabe and baked potato.  All were good with the exception of the potato which had been sitting cooked for way too long.

    Dessert I had the house tiramisu – seriously the best I have ever had.  

    Service was excellent.  

    I'd go back

  5. Enjoyed a fun and enjoyable dinner last night. We were originally seated in the main dining room, but we requested to sit in the back near the open fire and bar which had a more dim lit ambience for us young folks.  The server and manager were incredibly accommodating about this last minute change.

    Our server Alex was great with our party of 6.  We started with the burrata and figs and the grilled calamari. The burrata was already cut in half which was a let down.  The grilled calamari on the other hand was really flavorful.

    I loved my linguine seafood special. The portion was huge! The thin linguine was cooked perfectly. There was ample seafood as you can see from the photo and the sauce was flavorful.  My friends enjoyed their rib eye steak – acceptable for a non-chain restaurant in the suburbs.  

    Great wine selections by the bottle.  We couldn't decide on dessert so Alex offered to great a smorgasbord of most of their options, which was a fabulous offer. My favorite was the chocolate mousse which came on a delicious Oreo crust.

    Overall enjoyed our experience especially how we were taken care of by Alex and the managers who stopped by to check on how we were doing. Looking forward to stopping in again!

  6. So…the food at Sear was good, but unfortunately, there's more to eating out than just food.

    We came to Sear with a party of 5 for my father's birthday.  Our reservation was pretty early and the place was relatively empty – despite this we were given the crappiest table, crammed in a corner next to the door to the kitchen.  When I asked if we could have another table I was told there was nothing else available.  A bad start – this table should not even have been in the restaurant at all, it was so poorly placed.  In addition to that I was in the lap of the person behind me – I could lean back in my seat about 2 inches and join their conversation.  So uncomfortable.

    For appetizers, we had the Burratta and the Calamari.  Burratta was very good, but the Calamari was awful – I didn't even want to eat it.  Rubbery, bland, just not good.

    For entrees, most of us went with the Ribeye, my father had the Filet Mignon on the bone and my mother had veal.  The meat was really excellent, although not everyone's steak was cooked properly – my father's particularly was much more rare than he ordered it.

    Service was also awkward – not bad, just not polished.  A restaurant with these prices needs to have better service.

    So overall, although we enjoyed our steaks, none of us was very impressed. General consensus was that we probably wouldn't return.

    Incidentally, I also hated the clientele here.  The crowd that visit an upscale "trendy" restaurant in the burbs on a Saturday night are apparently not my scene.  So many attention whores…Look at me! I have money! Ugh. Obnoxious.
