The outside decor alone is something to pull you in. Once inside, its dark, a little dingy, but festive and fun. You'll be in full Mexican mode, with the decoartions, artwork, and menus. The menu is small, but right to the point. I really love their house salad dressing. Its watery but i love the flavor. My friends rave about the churrasco here. The magaritas are a good go to also. They come in 3 different sizes and various flavors…sangria..strawberry and pomegrante to name a few. Downfalls is the fact you can not open a tab unless youre sitting at the bar & the service. the servers are fun and entertaining, but to be honest pretty slow. They tend to forget about ya, and I had to ask about my water with lime 3 times. It wasnt even packed when I came, but it seemed to be laggy in here. However, mention its your birthday and the servers come over to you with a HUGE sombrero hat, a bottle of tequila, and a shot poured down your throat.
What a cute little restaurant with vibrant paintings and decoration, which was totally hidden from the plainness outside. I came here for Cinco de Mayo drinks, and boy, was this place packed! It was a pretty long wait just to even get drinks at the bar. We had to wait outside until our party was called, but hostess was nice enough to let a person from our party (3 of us) order our drinks and wait outside with them. Of course there were police around to keep the peace. We got margaritas and they were good and decently strong! There was a great crowd and great staff. I must make my way here to try the food and hopefully that won't disappoint.
I came here with a group of friends on a Saturday night to mainly grab some drinks. We ordered the passion fruit, regular and mango margaritas. All were delicious and strong. I ordered the beef empanadas which was really good. The waiters and the bartenders made our night so much fun. They were full of energy and really wanted to make sure we had a good time. They are open till 3am and around midnight they open room for a dancing area. TIP: The kitchen is open late. Till around midnight or 1am which is definitely a plus. If you are looking to have a good time with friends I will highly recommend this small gem.
This is our second time here and the food and drinks were just as good as they were the first time. The usual chips and salsa as soon as you are seated were good but while the salsa was good it was too spicy for me. Hubby liked.
I got the Chicken Mole Poblano (again) and it was delicious. The mole sauce was spicy but not so that it was painful and the portion was very generous. The entree came with a nice side of beans, yellow rice, guac and sour cream. Hubby loved his Shrimp Fajita that came out sizzling and steamy as it should be. I threw caution to the wind and got a Coconut Margarita. No kidding I practically needed two hands to pick it up and it was really good. Even though I was pleasantly full Hubby talked me into sharing a flan Very authentic and yummy. The service is good, very attentive and friendly. Our server Eddie couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating, thank you. This is a fun place. Nothing fancy but very lively and casual and pretty comfy. Good meal, good time. We look forward to coming back.
Fiesta time! This place is like a giant ball of good vibes. Came here on a Friday night. Decor is lively with lights and bright colors. Bartenders where very attentive, friendly and funny. They took their time to inform us about the different margaritas and which ones are popular. This is the kind of place you can get a drink the size of your head!
I started off with the passion fruit Margarita a requested favorite and ended the night with a regular a margarita. My friend enjoyed the strawberry one as a fav. We ordered two appetizers off the menu the Plato Cantina and Viva Mexico. (Sampler type tizers) Kudos!!!
They are open until 3 a.m. , love love that…I like staying out late! My friend and I literally stayed until they closed that's how much we enjoyed our Friday evening at the tavern cantina. It may not look like much from the outside but hey it is the inside that matters 🙂
I came here over the weekend with a friend and had an enjoyable time! When we walked in, we were told we could sit anywhere we would like, so we did. I couldn't help but notice all the wonderful colors around this place and how nicely it is decorated. When we sat down, we were given a complementary basket of chips and salsa. The chips tasted homemade and the salsa was very fresh and had a slight kick to it. We both ordered margaritas. I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita and my friend ordered a frozen coconut margarita. The margarita was nice, very refreshing and fruity. For my meal, I ordered the chicken burrito, which was delicious and came with a side of rice and beans. It was a huge portion and also came with guacamole and sour cream. My friend ordered the shrimp quesadilla, which looked tasty and was a nicely sized portion as well. Since we had both checked into the restaurant on Yelp, we received a coupon (on Yelp) for a free dessert! The server brought the dessert out and it was huge! It was a very large scoop of vanilla ice cream on top on a fried pastry with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. When we got our check, the server came over with a smartphone and scanned on cards on there, they use Square to accept credit cards on here. It is convenient because you are able to see your receipt via email instead of getting a paper receipt (which I always end up throwing out anyway). I see that some other reviewers say this place is great for happy hour, so I'm going to have to check that out sometime. I'm also inclined to try some of the other authentic Mexican dishes they serve here because this place is definitely the real deal!
The chips and salsa weren't anything special, basic chips with basic salsa. The frozen Margarita was pretty good, I hate tequila, but I still enjoyed the drink. The chimichangas were excellent, fried perfectly, with gooey cheese, and perfectly cooked steak. The real downfall here was the service, slow as can be. They said we could sit anywhere, then told us to get any drink deals we had to move back to the bar. We moved backed to the bar, and our waiter disappeared. I will give it another chance since those chimichangas were pretty damn good.
Delicious steak fajitas!
Next time I'm craving fajitas I'm coming back here because they were so tasty. The chips are not my favorite, however I did enjoy their fresh hot salsa. The frozen margaritas are nice and strong. The prices are similar to what you would pay elsewhere. Typical Mexican decor – huge TV on wall if you're into sports and stuff like that.
Taco salad chicken was cooked to perfection and the dressing was sooo good. Tasted like a yogurt cilantro.
