Red Lobster

“Reason for 4 stars is because of the wait time to be seated but hey that's due to size of the restaurant.”

“The waiting area is small and very.crowded but you can always hang outside and see the planes take off in d sky, have a nice convo etc,,, till your two hours snd fifteen minutes are up lol.”

“My girl had the:

Spicy Habanero Coconut Shrimp Bites and Sweet Citrus-Grilled Shrimp, this is a special which included soup, salad, entree and dessert for all less than $20, what a deal.”

  1. The food was delicious as Red Lobster always is. The atmosphere was nice but honestly it was a little noisy but it was also crowded. We waited about twenty minutes for a table which I guess isn't bad for Sunday on Labor Day Weekend. I think Red Lobster is a little pricey personally.. But I guess that's what you pay for that quality seafood. But if I was paying I would have gone some place else and probably just not have chosen to have seafood. Though the lunch menu is always a cheaper alternative for basically the same thing except with smaller portions. (On most dishes) BTW on portion size it was too much for me to eat. I couldn't finish it all so the portions are generous. Guess it's a good place to go if your Muslim and you are looking for Halal food at a secular restaurant. My date offered to take me to Olive Garden as another choice but not much Halal there more at Red Lobster.

I just saw other reviews on this restaurant and I noticed people said the service was bad. I am editing this review to add the service WAS excellent, quick and courteous.

  2. Uh why do I keep coming back here. It feels like every time I forget how bad this place is I come back and learn my lesson all over again. The wait is always ridiculous, I think we waited 50 minutes this time. Honestly the only reason I gave this place 3 stars and not 1 is because of their biscuits and the lobster bisque. The biscuits are always hot and fresh and the soup is very hearty and filling. We came here during the endless shrimp promo and it's never a good time. The shrimp options were mostly gross but you really can't expect better for $17.99. The service was awful as usual. Had to ask for a refill of my drink 3 times and a refill of the biscuits twice. I never get my hopes up for this place but it usually disappoints even then. All I can say is expect to wait and don't hope for the best cause you won't find it here.

  3. So I have a dilemma: If I fess up to liking Red Lobster so much that an hour and 45 minute wait seems doable to me, will they take my foodie (seafood-ie) card away?

Honestly, I like this place. And the location in times square, too. Maybe I'm biased because seafood is my thing, period. The only way I won't eat a deveined shrimp already on my plate is if I could smell its rankness. I'm pleased to report I've never had any gross experiences like that here.

In fact, I've been impressed with the ultimate feast, especially the garlicky shrimp scampi–not really cut scampi style but who's taking notes when at Red Lobster? Not me. I also like the sweetest of the sweet, you-can-almost-taste-the-extra calories, watered down frozen "margaritas"–no biggie, just ask for an extra shot (or two) of tequila. It's not like they cost Madhattan prices or anything.

  4. The lines can be a bit ridiculous. The Police Officer is a reminder things can go poorly fast. The food is always hot and it taste great. The servers are usually very polite and they will try to make sure your experience is pleasant. 4 stars because they make you wait so long to eat when your in big groups.

  5. At last, I finally got to try Red Lobster , perhaps I have been living under a rock all these years.
Anyway, I came here to have a big birthday feast for my boyfriend who is a seafood lover and the wait time to be seated was no longer then 15 minutes [then again I came here early at 6:30 on a weeknight so I didn't expect it to be hectic]. Finding parking was pretty easy and the hostess was really friendly.
The way the restaurant was laid out was really nice,  you have the front of the house with the hot oven & salad bar and kitchen, and then towards the bathroom you have a huge round bar that can seat up to 50 people with flat screen TVs, and then behind the bar and in 2 other sections are booths and large tables for huge groups of people, ultimately this place is ideal for family dining. In addition Red Lobster has a separate section for take out only , that is totally genius!
Of course the first thing I ordered when I got here was in the famous cheddar biscuits, it comes in a basket of 5 and is complimentary; they were hot, flaky and cheesy with a hint of garlic, frickin amazing.
Originally when I visited the website before hand to check out the menu, I noticed there was a fresh catch club deal which gives you a free appetizer and perks. I didn't have any luck doing it in on the go so I was hoping the waitress would be able to sign us up , but it turns out she didn't know crap about this promotion and she claimed she would ask the manager but she totally forgot about it. Shouldn't all their employees know their specials and promotions off hand?!
Another problem I noticed was that the menu was hard to follow and very disorganized. Like there was a separate book with cocktails drinks and appetizers, and then the main menu lists some of the same items too so which one do I follow? I also couldn't find a section for chicken & steak options which is clearly on the website but nowhere to be found on the menu. The waitress was puzzled when I brought this to her attention and as a person who isn't a huge seafood lover this was important to me. She luckily knew some options by heart like maple glazed chicken or chicken with pasta and Alfredo sauce or 7 and 12 oz. steak with 2 sides, but again I found this to be very limited.
I was tempted to try the 4 course feast for 18 dollars a person which comes with a soup, salad, one entrée and dessert, and unlimited rounds of biscuits but I found that the options to choose from were very limited.
For starters my boyfriend had the clam chowder soup, which to him was small and not very filling , it barely had any clam pieces or potatoes in it, he said the Campbell's can tasted better, yikes [plus there was a fee to choose this soup because it wasn't included in his seafood feast meal].
We tried the lobster sunset cocktails which were strong, tropical , not too sweet and it has a glass you can take home for only 9 bucks a drink, I LOVED this drink, it reminded me of the islands. They also had other great options with tequila, wine , beer, frozen drinks , it was probably my favorite thing about the restaurant.
The fried calamari with vegetables was huge for 10 dollars and the veggies were fresh and well seasoned, I liked how the breading didn't fall off the calamari, but the pieces themselves were very tiny and they didn't give you enough marinara sauce for such a big plate.
My boyfriends plate for 30 dollars came with lobster tail with garlic and butter on the side, crab legs, fried shrimp and shrimp with garlic and oil, AND 2 sides . You really do get a great amount of food for a good price, everything looked fresh with a great presentation.
My 7 ounce steak with two sides was mediocre, I ordered a strip and there was a lot of fat on it, but it was done medium which is exactly how I like it, so at least it was juicy. My side of mashed potatoes was tasty and thick, but the corn on the cob was overdone and dry since it is grilled, I think it was a fail. It also came with a garden salad with a good amount of dressings to choose from and it was a great portion. However for almost 25 dollars I have tasted way better steak then that.
The service itself was a bit slow, it took over 20 minutes to get our drinks at the bar, over a half hour for the appetizer and over 45 minutes for the entrees. I understand that some items need more time to cook, but with such a large amount of staff I wouldn't expect service to be that slow.
I saved my boyfriend the embarrassment of having a birthday song from the restaurant with a brownie , but honestly we were so full that we wouldn't be able to stomach it anyway. The dessert menu was very nice as far as options, they have key lime pie, cheesecake, lava cake, a lava cookie, a slide of apple pie and a hot brownie.
Oh and the bathroom wasn't too dirty and had at least 4 stalls so the line wasn't that bad, but the fact that not all sinks had soap in them sucks! I would come back here but there is room for improvement.

  6. Delicious food had a great time however the lobster was oversalted. It's a little far from the stores but on a nice day it makes for a great walk.

The drinks are good but they do need to bring the salt levels down. I would probably go there again but they really need to hire more people for the weekends. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting and the wait was crazy. There was a huge crowd in the waiting area and outside yet when I went inside there were so many empty tables to choose from.

  7. Service was great
    biscuits delicious as always
spinach, crab artichoke was ok, really salty
My lobster was good, the corn was a little old, but tasty, and the potatoes in my dish were a little nasty and tasteless. over not worth 31 bucks, but my company and wine made the experience more enjoyable…I really liked the service and the in and out service too. Thank you

  8. This is pretty much the only red lobster that's near me. I love it because of the food. Every time I come here, the food, especially the lobster, is delicious. Lobsters are my sinful pleasure. I just love seafood!

This place is always crowded though! Which I guess is to be expected since like I mentioned before, this is the only Red Lobster in the area. It can be hard to find parking right next to the restaurant but there is plenty of parking nearby since this is the gateway shopping center.

The wait can be brutally long if you come here anytime on the weekend. We were told we would wait 45 minutes and it took about an hour +. My feet were killing me by the time we got seated. The waiting area is also very small so expect to get bumped and pushed!

The staff is friendly for the most part. The server I had was attentive and the service was fast. I had the half size Shrimp Linguini Alfredo and a side order of the roasted lobster Tail. Both were delicious. I also had the Mango mai Tai which is the best drink I've had at Red Lobster. My total meal came out to $33 with tax. Going there recently made me realize how much I love seafood and how much I am already dying to go back! I will be back soon! 🙂

I recommend this place. Just be prepared to wait!
