Came here as a group of 4 after purchasing a pretty good deal on groupon. We made a reservation and it was good we did because the Mets game was on so it was packed.
The decor is fun and inviting. Much different from the outside of the building, which would be easy to miss if you didn't know what you were looking for.
We ordered the guac and salsa with the house made tortilla chips. Guac was good, salsa was okay, but the chips were amazing! Loved whatever seasoning they were dusted in, and they're free refills.
We also ordered the empanada trio. I only tried the cheese and bean one, but I really enjoyed it. The dipping sauce they come with was too hot for me, so beware if you don't like hot things.
For my main course, I ordered a veggie burrito. Burrito was huge and very good. Generous variety of veggies, mixed with rice, beans and cheese. What's not to love? My friend got the same thing and enjoyed it, and our fellas ordered fajitas and garlic chicken. No complaints about the food. We also got a free gummy worm shot for checking in, which is basically a gummy worm in a shot glass.
Our server was very sweet but a little flighty. Maybe she was having an off day but we needed to remind her several times for things like water and plates.
I would definitely come back here. It's a fun atmosphere with good food and the prices are fair.
Villa Tequila Bar Is an awesome place with great food. You may have some wait but its worth it because its made fresh and not pre made then reheated and served. Came in on a Sunday night for drinks and a bite to eat. Started out with some chips and salsa. Was very impressed. They came out fresh from the oven and couldn't stop eating them. Then for my main course was Salmon Al A Plancha with roasted garlic and spinach. Was flavorful and good. For my drinks yes drinks I had two lol 32 oz margaritas and yes I needed them. Margaritas are Very good and not too sweet. Bar is very well stocked with a lot of very nice choices of alcohol. My server was Stephanie great person very attentive.
Excellent…. Definitely not your typical Mexican restaurant… Definitely has a Caribbean taste to it…
It's a Friday night and I wanted to have some margaritas and mojitos along with some tequila shots for happy hour….
I didn't feel like going to a Chain restaurant being that a lot of the chain restaurants have happy hour… I wanted something different….
I remember passing this place a while back and still remembered that it was located in Roselle so I came to Yelp to look at the reviews and everything looked so appetizing I just had to give a try….
First of all the outside doesn't do justice to the inside of the restaurant….
I'm mad that I didn't come in here sooner….
Service was magnificent…
I only wanted to order aappetizers being that I solely just wanted to drink and munch on something like guacamole….
But let me tell u, we ended up ordering guacamole which had pomegranate seeds, tostones w ropa vieja uhhhh so good, chicharrones de pollo OMG my taste buds were going crazy.. the chicken was marinated just right….
Of course I had to order an entree even if I didn't finish it…
I order tacos of course, it also oooooh so good….
For drinks I had a margarita and sangria along with the candy worm infused in tequila….
Also I love desserts and had to try their tres leches ahhhhh it was so good it's unexplainable…
BTW….. The music in this restaurant was great they had r&b, to house music, to Hispanic, to hip hop and some 90s music … I wish I lived closer.. .
The food was delicious and u will have a good time …
What are u waiting for?? GO!!!!!
I really like this place we were here a couple of hours ago although the service is alittle slow when ur starving it's not that horrible!! The food is always good the carne asada tacos were delicious!! Once again I was so hungry I started eating before I took a pic Anyway!! The shrimp tacos were dinky it's literally three shrimp on a mini tortilla with a mini side of onions lol!! I was so confusedddd!! I love the free tequilla gummy worm shot with the Yelp checkin!!
This place was ok. The food was aight. Got the steak fajitas and a couple of (weak) Margaritas after a looooong week while out on a friday night with friends. The guac (which i absolutely love in life) was okay, nothing spectacular, a little flavorless and watery.
The steak component of the fajitas was decent, the rice was dryyyy. But them peopers! Their sauteed pepper/onion mix MADE that dish.
The place itself was kind of small but there was a downstairs. By the time we left it looked like ut was shaping up to be a poppin spot – DJ and everything. So check it out, but go there more for the social element – not the foods. You're welcome.
Was in town for a couple of nights and my cousin and i needed a place to wind down and have a nightcap…this seemed to be the only place open around 1130pm on a friday night. The bar is open until 3am i believe. Call ahead to make sure of the hours.
Parking is fine as there is a lot in the plaza that it is located in. The inside is a good size that could seat maybe 40-50 people (im just guessing, it could be more!) Fully stocked bar with anything and everything you could want. Music that night was a great mix and my cousin and i were jamming in out seats as each song played.
When we arrived we were told that the kitchen would close at midnight so we got our orders in right away. The staff that attended to us were very nice and accommodated to us even though the kitchen was closing soon.
We ordered a pitcher of the mango margarita was more than enough for us. We could barely finish it but it tasted really good!
Chips and guac – tasty, but the chips tasted a little off but this did not bother us.
Calamari and chicharrones – we found the calamari to be a bit salty but again, this didn't bother us.
Carne asada Tacos – very delicious, good amount of fixings on the tacos as well.
Grilled Chicken entree – i cannot remember the name of this but the spices on the chicken tasted really good. The chicken was very tender and not dry. The corn salsa served with it was a great compliment as well as the white rice and plaintains.
We enjoyed the food and drinks here and would recommend to anyone in this area looking for some good eats and drinks!
Came by Villa last night with my wife after some pretty solid reviews on Yelp. We were in the mood for Mexican, figured why not?
Its location screams authentic — doesn't stand out; sort of blends in with the surrounding town of Roselle. When you walk in, it's an awesome vibe: authentic, music, nice tables, and spacious. It's in between a dive and modern Mexican. Villa does a really good job of setting an a awesome tone for customers. The bar is also nicely lit and looks great.
To the food:
+We got one free gummy worm shot (gummy worm in a tequila shot) with a Yelp check in. It was OKAY — just literally a worm placed inside a shot. It wasn't flavored or anything, so it was definitely harsh to chew on a tequila-flavored gummy worm. Wasn't sweet.
+Chips and Salsa: OKAY. Nothing too unique about them. The chips were kind of bland, and the salsa didn't taste different. Status quo.
+Burrito: Beef. Pretty good. Thick and short, with some GREAT cheese on top. The quality of meat was okay — tasted like a beef pureè. It was a little odd. But it was good.
Tried it for lunch after seeing a Living Social deal and am glad I did. Very nice waitress; good empanadas with very zippy sauce; good chicken mole. As others noted, the food takes longer than you expect to appear–there was only 1 other occupied table when I was there, but I took it as a sign they were taking care, rather than rushing things out.
$10 lunch specials looked worth trying
