  1. To be fair, I'm not a huge sushi fan…..This review is for the sushi lovers companion: You wont like the chicken cutlet over egg fried rice, its way WAY to soggy.

Pro Tip: don't order if you don't like sushi………

  2. I've only ordered delivery from here and through seamless I've never called here or anything like that. Their sushi isn't half bad, I mean it isn't the best sushi I've had in my life or anything like that, but it is no where near the worst, they fall right in the middle. What I really love about this place is how fast they deliver, It literally takes them about 20 minutes after I place my order to get my food. Love love love love that!! The only weird thing was last time I ordered my food the delivery guy was waiting at the bottom of the brownstone I live in still on his bike. Whatever though maybe he was in a rush.

  3. Sakura Tokyo makes decent sushi at cheap prices. The sushi is always fresh, but sometimes off tasting. My last spicy tuna roll lacked any spice and left a weird after taste in my mouth. I will say they offer a large menu, and some great deals on lunch specials. They are located right around the corner from me, so it makes for a quick stop when I don't have any other options for dinner, or want a fast meal.

  4. I've ordered take-out from here twice now and I am less than impressed. Their service is prompt and accurate which I appreciate. However, the food, which is arguably the most important, especially when it comes to take-out is meh at best.

The first time I ordered, I got two sushi rolls and wasabi shumai. The sushi was forgettable. I literally don't remember if I liked it or not. The wasabi shumai was….interesting. For lack of a better word, it was just too wasabi-y. I couldn't even finish all of them because I thought my nose was going to get burned off. Now, I appreciate a good wasabi burn, but that was just too much.

Most recently, I ordered an avocado salad and a beef don. The avocado salad was almost laughable. For 2.95 I got a container full of ice berg lettuce topped with MAYBE a quarter of an avocado sliced, sesame seeds and a slice of tomato. Definitely not worth it. The beef don was OK. It tasted like a beef don, but there was ALOT of rice. That being said, I thought it was worth the 7.50, but I wouldn't get it again.

Bottom line, fairly standard, bordering on substandard Japanese takeout, but prices are reasonable and delivery is quick, so there's something to be said for that. I don't think I will be ordering from them again, but I wouldn't dissuade someone from ordering and deciding for themselves.

  5. Sakura is the only sushi place in Bed Stuy that is edible, and even then it's hit or miss. Sometimes the fish seems really fresh, and sometimes it's a bit slimy. I for sure feel like i've gotten sick a few times after eating here. We've been ordering here at least 5 years. Heads up on ordering sushi rolls-the non "special" rolls are usually 4 pieces and or very tiny, so be sure to order more than you think you need. The actual location is more of a take out-there is just a small table like most NYC Chinese places.

I love the sweet potato rolls here, and the spicy roll combo is my other favorite.

We live 5 minutes away, so as you can imagine the delivery is always super quick. The gyoza and shumai are really tiny like the rolls.

I've also recently tried the teriyaki which comes with a salad and battered shrimp, broccoli, sweet potato and onion. It's a great portion of food for $7.50, but the battered onion is literally a 3 inch wide piece of onion so it's pretty inedible. Stellar overall though when you need to get your sushi fix.

  6. Came here to get lunch the other day. They have lunch specials and seems decently priced rangin from $7-10. I ordered the 3 rolls which comes w soup/soda. I also order the spicy kani salad just incase it was not filling.

The spicy kani salad was really good!!! Its actually slightly spicy which i dont think i've ever had it like that at any other japanese restaurants.

The sushi rolls were good but i felt there was too much rice so it filled me up after eating like 1 roll and a half. Had to take the rest home.

They didnt give me low sodium soy sauce and i had specifically asked and the lady told me it was. So i'm unsure if they know what that is.. Or just didnt care.

  7. One of the best things about staying in Brooklyn was this place, and we ate here no less than four times in six days. What did we love? Here we go:

    – Close to the train station on the main road
    – Fantastic food and a fantastic value
    – Friendly staff that appreciate business and work hard
    – Free delivery, though we only dined in. We never saw anyone else while eating there, as their business is mostly pick up and delivery. their phone would not stop ringing!

Please open a store in Sydney!

  8. My absolute favorite dish is the chicken katsu curry with rice, which is something that everyone needs to try. This is definitely my go-to comfort food and take-out joint at an extremely affordable price!
