  1. Thankfully I read the reviews about Cinco de Mayo before going…. it is a little difficult to find!!  But once you do – you won't be sorry you drove past the entrance and had to turn around in the church parking lot (speaking from experience!)!  (when you turn off High Mtn Road, the road for the restaurant is a very quick right…what you think is a private driveway or even a larger sidewalk, is the small road you need to turn onto – otherwise, no big deal, you end up in the church parking lot – just turn around and try again.) My mom and I stopped in for dinner last Wednesday night.  We were seated at a table in the dining area, which when we got there around 6:00, had one other table of guests.  There were 3 women sitting at the small bar, enjoying themselves, and TVs were scattered around the restaurant.  We were brought fresh warm chips and salsa with a kick, along with pints of ice water.  I ordered a house margarita on the rocks, with salt and my  mom got a frozen strawberry margarita.  Marco, one of the waiters, possibly the manager, hand made our drinks and brought them to us. Very tasty – just enough tequila to make me happy (although he forgot the salt on the 1st one – be he added salt to the 2nd one…yay, salt!!)  I ordered the beef enchiladas and my mom ordered the grilled chicken salad.  I asked the waiter if it was ground beef or shredded and said it was diced sirloin…and he wasn't kidding.  the meat inside the enchilada was soooo lean and tasty – and wasn't drowning in sauce or cheese.  it was the perfect blend of everything (although the corn tortilla fell apart) – but that was OK with me … so, you get a little dirty digging into a tasty meal – I can think of worse things!!  My 3 enchiladas came with a side of fresh pico de gallo and fresh guacamole, that had to be some of the best I've ever had! – My mom's salad was cut greens with a juicy grilled chicken breast.  None of the food was your typical greasy, Taco Bell quality food – it was all very fresh, perfectly season and cooked, and extremely tasty.  We are always on the hunt for authentic tasting Mexican food and I believe we've found a couple towns away, at Cinco De Mayo.  (by the time we left, around 7:00, a few more tables had filled up)  We will be back!!!  (the total bill for 2 entrees and 3 margaritas and tip was about $50)…

  2. Talk about hidden gems, by definition this place is a hiddem gem.  I actually had to drive around and find the restaurant, after I saw the sign.  There is a narrow road that appears to be a driveway in front of a church that leads to the restaurant, but I found a back way that is easier.

The drinks at this place are very good.  The wife and I got the "Bulldog Sangria" margarita which they give you an option to have it in a pineapple instead of a glass.  We both opted for the pineapple not realizing the drinks were going to be fourteen dollars each.  The beer selection is pretty general.  Most of the beers are Mexican beers and domestics, no craft beer, but that's okay.

We got the guacamole which is made tableside.  I'm a big fan of places that make tableside guac, cause they usually ask if you want it spicy or mild.

The wife and I both ordered tacos.  The tacos are served the traditional mexican way with double soft corn tortillas.   I ordered the al pastor tacos and she got the skirt steal tacos; both tacos were phenomenal!

I can't wait to come back and try some other dishes.

  3. Went on a Monday night. Place was not busy at first but did fill up after 7. Service was prompt and attentive. We ordered sangria and it was one of the best I have ever had. The food was fantastic as well. We shared a guacamole salad and a fajita–fantastic. I asked for hot sauce and was pleasantly surprised that I received homemade hot sauce. Looooved it. Over all great experience. Will definitely recommend this place and be back.

  4. Staring to write this review makes me want to jump in my car and go here. I have dined here a couple times now and have enjoyed it each time. The food is so flavorful from the shrimp jalapeño app to the skirt steak to the churros for dessert. Service here has always been solid too. They have outdoor seating in the warmer months. This place is a truly a "hidden gem" since it's set back off a main road. Parking lot is very small so parking can be a nightmare. Portions are large and prices are reasonable. Do your a favor and give this place a try!

  5. This is my kind of place: local, little, warm atmosphere and good people, fresh food. Been twice in two days, owner Franco is a class act. All family, the staff is warm and caring (Sylvia is great!). There's pride here and I wish this newer business lots of success. Other locals seem to be catching on. Outdoor seating on the way, live mariachi on Sundays. Party room upstairs. Tiny place and off the beaten path, call ahead. Enjoy! PS full bar!

  6. So glad I found this place, thanks to YELP!!  I've ridden past this place tons of times on my bike (not motorcycle) and never knew this place even existed.  It's hidden off the road (small sign) and you actually enter down a small driveway on the entrance to the Grace Bible Church.

Stopped in for lunch on a beautiful September day and sat on the patio.  Outdoor seating nearby Wayne NJ is hard to come by, especially at a place with good food and cold beer!

Warms chips, homemade salsa and cold Coronas arrived promptly.  I had the skirt steak, my guest had the chicken enchiladas.

The skirt steak was tender and prepared perfectly.  The sides were authentic and tasty.  The chicken enchiladas were also authentic and tasty.

Our server was friendly and explained they have a live Mariachi band on Sunday nights (5pm -8pm)!!

Can't wait to come back on a Sunday for live music, great food and a cocktail in a real pineapple 😉

  7. Great authentic food. Must try the guacamole and the skirt steak. delicious! Very friendly service.

  8. To echo a sentiment of another yelper, this place really is a hidden gem. Like literally hidden. I almost didn't write a review so I could keep it secret. It is down a creepy pathway near a church. They deserve the business though so here it is.

It's way better than all other places I've checked out in the area. I love it! They even have outside seating. The place is a pretty good size. I usually just get a regular margarita, on the rocks, no salt. You only get the happy hour special at the bar though. They have those pineapple drinks too! Although, the size of the pineapples can vary whereas pricing doesn't.

Everything is fresh and delicious. It's my go-to place when I want Mexican. I eat a ton of chips & salsa and usually go for something classic like a burrito. It's simply excellent.

I didn't like sitting outside the one time because people were smoking and being loud and obnoxious, but that's not really the fault of the establishment. I just can't enjoy eating/drinking when all I'm breathing in is smoke and being forced to listen to people's loud, ignorant conversations.
