  1. The Quick: A solid 3.5 tapas spot to enjoy with friends.

The Details: The venue is very cute for a date or a classy girls night out. Everything was very good; nothing was outstanding but then again nothing was disappointing either. Overall a very lovely spot to get tapas and drinks with your friends. Although I'm not in a rush to return, I would not be opposed to it either.

The Damage: I don't exactly remember what we paid, we drink a lot and a lot and I remember thinking it was a little pricey compared to other happy hour/ tapas spots.

  2. Average with below average stuffed grape leaves… They should be called grape leaf cigarettes because that's what they look like. It's hard to F up a charcuterie plate if you have a good vendor so no bonus points for that, which was actually really good. The hummus was meh but the roasted red pepper dip thing was good. Wasn't paying too much to prices but I think it's pretty average for this sort of place in Manhattan. Ambience is okay it was quiet but probably because it was a Monday. The outdoor dining area in the front is a hug plus except con Edison was doing work right in front of it so we opted for an indoor seat. I would NOT go back hungry but would definitely go back for wine IF I happened to be in the area. Not a bad place just not impressive… Very meh

  3. 4 stars for ambiance/experience, 2 stars for pricepoint, 3 stars for the wines themsevles (though must admit that I've only chosen less expensive wines here and may be missing out on some higher quality ones).

Pierre Loti is one of the quaintest options in an otherwise bustling area that's often jam-packed with students, tourists, and cheap eat kind of places. Being on a relatively lowkey block of Irving Place towards the Gramercy area, it offers an intimate and pleasant reprieve from Union Square. The interior has comfortable booths and low lighting and it's perfect for conversation. I came here the first time with friends and I was pleased that they chose this place instead of a busy bar where we'd have to scream to hear anything.

The food on the menu looks decent, albeit overpriced. While it'd be great to pair the wines with a cheese plate or charcuterie, I'm not about to drop nearly $20 to do so, especially if it's small and lackluster. The wines can also be a bit daunting with their price tag, making it hard to want to camp out there for a long period of time.

My favorite part was trying the wine flights (3 for $15 and generous pours, which is awesome). However, I wasn't blown away by the quality of the whites (tried their only Dry Riesling, a promising sounding Sauvignon Blanc, and a Gruner Veltliner)  but none really *wooed* me. I expect this is largely due to their offering lower quality wines for the flight options, but that in itself is kind of a bummer.

The other big (seasonal) drawback is the lack of AC, as the last time I was there it was particularly humid and awful despite being nighttime. The PL staff does keep the tap water coming, which I appreciated, and they were amenable to us moving to their cozy front patio seating where we could feel a breeze.

All in all, this might be the best kind of spot to bring your parents: quiet, comfortable, an air of class, bites of food they won't be as reluctant to pay for, and likely the opportunity to try better wines. See ya there, Mom and Dad.

  4. Came here for some wine with friends. Cute atmosphere and was pretty busy on a weekend night. My friends and I each got wine flights. The waitress was pretty knowledgeable about the wines offered and enjoyed the different choices that I got. Good deal for the wine flights and definitely will come back to try their food and some more wine in the future!

  5. Quaint cozy wine bar with inside seating as well as patio area with cushy seating – enclosed when it's colder and open now that it's nicer outside.

Friendly host servers and bartenders and I enjoyed Both wines – the Malbec and Spanish blend.

Great spot to meet friends or a date.

  6. Charming wine bar with good food and a very good wine selection, where I left behind my credit card (damn Chase Sapphire card – it looks pretty, but disappears in the check billfold), which they held onto for a good 24 hours+ before I noticed it and called to ask after it.  The service was excellent when I was there, and obviously super excellent after my visit.  I'd say 3.5 stars for the food (the tuna tartare and the arugula and beet salad were standouts) and 4 stars for the wine (good selection, would love to see a few more interesting Rosés), but 5 stars and beyond for the excellent service, which thankfully extended beyond my actual visit as a paying customer.

  7. we arrived here on a Thursday evening so excited about wine and great tasting platters. I decided to have a Spanish wine which was something I've been waiting to try for a long time. We decided to part take in the 3 for 15 bucks. We got two cheese manchengo and a tasty smooth one and then the chorizo because they were out of the other ones I wanted. The chorizo was a little different then I remember having in the past, but it was ok. We also decided to get the artichoke; very bland and not tasty at all. The service was on point and that is why I decided to rate them two more stars. When I travel around the NY/NJ/and other boroughs and get tasty food I think of places that I don't really care for and this was one of them.

I can defiantly say I have had a lot better.
I think seating outside gave them the other stars

  8. Came here to meet a date for drinks and appetizers and really enjoyed my experience. Sat at one of the high tables and ordered a glass of cabernet along with three cheeses and a flight of their bruschettas. Plenty of food for two people.

Really liked the atmosphere and the service was attentive! Would recommend.
