Holy crap. I was just there and Left after sitting there for 20 minutes. The only person who was super helpful was the hostess.
We sat down and it was REALLY tight with the people on my left and right. So tight that whoever's section that was…didnt even realize we were a separate table.
The bus boy freaking gave us water…and that was it. We never had a server come up to us! We looked at our menus, knew what we wanted after 2 mins, then for the remaining 18 mins, an asian server came by to check on the tables to our left and right…and smiled, and walked off…5 TIMES!!! 5!!!!!!! Then one dude came by once. I've had it at this point and just got up and walked off. The dude who checked his section and passed us saw us leaving and said, "thank you for dining with us!" It took a lot outa me not to curse him the hell out. I felt bad for the hostess. She noticed we left and asked, "oh, you're leaving?" I was like, "yea" and walked out and hit up Press 195. I'm here now, and within 3 mins of looking at the menu, 2 servers came by to check on us.
It sucks because I wanted to give this place a chance. I was here once before. But if we were waiting THAT long to get service…imagine how long we would have waited for our food. Hell nah. Not cool. It wasnt even as busy as the first time I came.
I was nice and waited for servers to pass by 5-6 times…and yes, I timed the entire thing. Totally disappointed. Wish i gave NO STARS but Yelp won't let me.
Fino, you are fine! This awesome wine and tapas bar is such a cute little gem in bayside. Right in the heart of bell blvd this dimly lit and very romantic place offers up a mill bajil wines and tapas… We ordered the sautéed shrimp, grilled zucchini, charcuterie, and the scallops! Everything was so delicious.. The shrimp come in this little round ramekin and were sautéed and cooked to perfection. Tender and juicy on this nice summer night mmmmm.. The scallops were big and came in a supreme sauce… Place was good.. I've been to so many places like this and I always love them so they're a win in my book… Come here for a slew of tapas before you hit up tha local bars located right across the street…
2 bottles of wine, 5 tapas plates=$160
Good for a date or a party of 4-6.. I prob wouldn't come here with a larger party due to the seating arrangements but maybe you can call ahead for accommodations..
Really just an OK place, with average food. If you like to eat and know a thing or two about good food, this place won't impress you much. Who does dress your own bone marrow with caramelized onions? Not a good combo. The marrow is so delicate and the onions completely overpower it. The calamari was crispy but rubbery. Octopus was OK. If you want really good Tapas, stick to downtown or Astoria.
PS. Paper napkins though? Come on now.
My wonderful boyfriend planned a delightful date night for us at this venue.
The ambiance is very beautiful and romantic at first glimpse and the hostess and staff were very lovely as well. We had 3 tapas: mac and cheese, breaded cauliflower, and seared lamb chops. The food was delicious for the most part and I really enjoyed the tapas style. The seared lamb chops were cooked perfectly and had the right amount of tenderness. The mac and cheese with the little pieces of bacon was my absolute favorite but its definitely one of those foods you find yourself over indulging in quickly only to be really sick from eating so fast afterwards. A minor complaint I had about the mac and cheese was that it had chunks of black pepper in it and its not a pleasant experience constantly chewing on black pepper. The cauliflowers were ok; they had bread crumbs and sprinkle of parmesan over them which was a nice touch. Throughout this lovely dinner I was able to over indulge in a bottle of 'classico chianti' which is one of my favorite red wines and it paired beautifully with our dinner. The staff were very attentive and a little staged with their personas but I didn't mind, it was just annoying that people who weren't our waitress kept passing by our table and grabbing our plates any chance they could got when we weren't even done eating.
A fine establishment located on the Bell Blvd. strip of eateries in Bayside. Nearby to Uncle Jack's Steakhouse and Martha's Bakery. On a Saturday night, this place boasts an intimate and dim lit atmosphere. My friends and I enjoyed the surroundings and the courteous waitstaff. The menu is primarily Tapas infused but there are a selection of entrees as well. It was four of us so we ordered a bunch of tapas to try. Tapas we ordered: wild mushroom brushcetta, 3 different cheese board with jam, goat cheese salad, grilled cauliflower, fries and the octopus dish . The bruschetta was very tasty and well prepared, along with everything else. The salad had an interesting dressing on it which enhanced the flavor. The octopus dish was primarily for myself and Leo , and we found it to be quite pleasing. It was fresh and prepared on a bed of onions and greens. The drinks on the table were the peach infused mojitos in a long drinking glass; I highly recommend. The main entree of the night, shared by all 4 of us, was the Mac & Cheese dish, sans bacon. It was brought out on a skillet, nice and hot and ready to be consumed. We all had our spoons ready and quite literally summersaulted into it. The food was great , as well as the company. Our server, Luke, was very knowledgeable about the whole menu and apparently has a "30 min. conversation piece on the different types of cheese on the menu…but due to our grumbling of our stomachs , we were spared. The dessert we sampled were the cinnamon fritters , which were just 4 pieces , fittingly for all of us to try. In closing, the meal and the restaurant was great. It definitely made an impression on my friends and wife. We shall return.
Here are the list of things I consumed during my night here yesterday.
Mac And Cheese (mozzarella, gruyere and parm cheese)
Bone Marrow
Arugula Salad
Wild Mushroom Risotto
The Paella
The Steak
Scallops
Some wine (forgot name)
You were probably expecting me to tell you which of the items above were decent, some bland, some great.
Nope, I loved everything! which is a rarity. The list i have above is a ranking of what I enjoyed. I also enjoyed the service we received. Perhaps it was because it was a bit empty. I came on a Sunday night.
I truly enjoyed my experience here. Prices were reasonable. A restaurant you would think belonged in Manhattan. A Queens jewel.
(this is my third visit) very nice, intimate spot. came here with my mom and sat at the bar. Don't judge but we had 3 bottles of 'Deep Purple', which was delicious! Bartenders were friendly, and attentive when our water glasses were running low. We also had 3 tapas : the brussel sprouts (with bacon), the cauliflower (with bread crumbs, and parmesean cheese), and the steak tartare. I definitely would order the two veggies again, but not the steak tartare. I don't know if it was te presentation, but i'm used to mixing in my own tartare and not having it mixed in for me. It kind of looked like pet food, kind of grey-ish. Other than that, I will return to try other tapas and wine!
(FYI my first two visits were great as well. The servers really know their wines, so you won't be disappointed with their recommendations!)
I was hesitant in coming here because of the mix reviews. However we were pleasantly surprised. We came on a Saturday night around 630. It was almost empty and we had prompt seating and service. Our waiter was pleasant.
We ordered most of the tapas which were good. Some a little salter than others but still good. The paella was a tad watery and the steak was just ok. I enjoyed the tapas more. The white sangria was good as well.
The ambience was nice. Sort of reminds of a nyc restaurant. They have a private room in the back to rent out.
The tapas are pricey. 2 decent size scallops for $15 or a small bowl of grilled octopus. And some tapas only came with two items like the mushroom bruchetta and the pulled pork bruchetta. Make sure you ask the waiter about the serving size. Our waiter was helpful.
