Bonefish Grill is one of those few chains that manages to always be good! The food is always delicious and fresh and the service is always tip top. Great drinks and drink specials too.
In all the years I've lived or visited Montville, I had never been here. I had dinner with my family recently and it was a solid choice. Very reasonable price point, great food, variety of drinks and daily special dishes.
Bang bang shrimp is still the best appetizer to order, its so good, I don't think I'll ever get sick of it. For my entrée this time I tried something off their specials, it was a haddock fish topped with a lemon butter/feta/artichoke mixture. The fish was actually really good and the toppings complimented it well. The two sides it came with were mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, yum yum yum.
Side note, our waitress was super attentive and sweet, shot out to Jessica A.
I have been here a couple times, but never got around to my review! My mom and I went here last week because neither one of us wanted to cook…we passed it on our way to Rockaway Mall and made a 2-wheeled turn into the parking lot… Good suggestion there, mama! I've never had a bad meal, nor a bad experience. Everyone is always very pleasant, the restaurant is clean, and the food is good (could use a better beer selection, but I'm a little bit of a beer snob, so don't hold that against Bonefish!) Brie was our server last week and she was mighty excellent! Very friendly and attentive. She took our drink orders, brought out some water, and some very tasty warm bread and dipping oil. OMG – this was so good – and I'm a not a huge bread eater, but the potent olive-tasting EVOO had garlic, salt, pepper, and basil (??) – we practically licked the plate clean (we asked for more, and it was brought out promptly!). I ordered the Baja fish tacos with a side salad and I forgot what my mom ordered, but she finished everything on her plate!! (good girl, mommy! actually, she usually takes home a doggy bag, but not this time!) the fish tacos are my go-to, because they're not usually offered at other restaurants, and I just really really enjoy Bonefish Grill's fish tacos! 3 soft shell tacos filled with seasoned grilled white (probably Cod) fish, with a mango salsa – not overly filled, so you can eat them without making a huge mess (although, if on a first date, I wouldn't recommend them – they are a little messy! LOL) I really wanted the bang bang shrimp because I've had it in the past (and they had a special that night, bang bang shrimp tacos)- but my mom won't eat many, and I'll end up eating them all and then just feel bad about myself afterward. Don't get me wrong, I'll enjoy every single one of them, but then I'll have to exercise for the next 2 and half days to burn off everything else I ate that night (and the Sam Adams beer I ordered!) But, yes, we will be back, and yes, I'll probably order the fish tacos, but no matter what, I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here!
I've been to the Greenbrook location. But that was before my yelping years.
This location is nice. The decor is inviting and simple. The room is low lighted with a candle on the table. Can be romantic place if that is what your looking for.
The waitress was very attentively and friendly. The scallops and shrimp in ginger sauce was prepared so well. Hats off to the chef this evening. The cheese cake was so smooth and rich with an Apple sauce. This was a very good experience and I will be back.
Came back with a party of 5. Everyone's entree was cold, and the servings were minuscule. Any hole in the wall should be able to serve up hot French fries. Serving cold French fries to five people is like serving up 5 lukewarm lattes. It would take effort to be this bad. The 3 sugar cube pieces of lobster placed in my burnt bread roll were disappointing. Even the Mac n cheese was cold. It's like the last time: everything post bang bang shrimp appetizer is a disappointment.
The fish tacos are the bomb!! Service is hit or miss. I usually order take out and the hostess often forgets to even get me Utensils. Also they don't have to go cups which makes it impossible to order a drink.
FINALLY trying the local Bonefish Grill! I feel like I was very underprepared for how crowded BG would be on a weekend night in Pine Brook. Actually, I think all of Pine Brook was there that night!
Our wait was SIGNIFICANT. We stood inside, we sat outside, then squeezed ourselves onto the bench inside. We were never quoted a time ("maybe about an hour?"), which is irritating, but we lucked out with some empty seats at a hightop table near the bar after about 45 minutes. Our waitress came over and she seemed … overworked? She had a tired look on her face and a jaded demeanor. But she was competent, and we ordered our food & drinks.
We had the Bang Bang Shrimp as an appetizer. Now, I've never tried this, and I probably would have never ordered it off the description alone, but they were handing out samples to everyone waiting to be seated .. and it was delicious. Highly recommended, but only if you're gonna share! I can't imagine how many calories are hiding in a plate of those delicious little shrimps lol.
Once it got going, dinner was really good! I had Grilled Sea Bass in Lemon Butter, and it came with mashed potatoes & a veggie mix. I didn't like the veggie mix (get outta here, garbanzo beans!), but the fish & potatoes were more than enough to satisfy my grumbling belly. I also had a glass of Moscato, which turned out to be a very generous pour. Hooray!
All in all, we had a good meal, but the long wait (oddly enough, our table was called as we were being served our food. So, our total wait time was around 1:15?) left us exhausted. We were there almost two hours! Next time, I guess we'll try to plan ahead (read: reservations) if we want to hit this local hotspot.
