  1. Extremely surprised! I usually don't like chain restaurants, especially seafood ones, like red lobster, I try to avoid at all cost! But after a shopping trip at Menlo Park Mall, my husband wanted to grab something to eat before heading home. He's on this seafood thing….so bonefish it was. The restaurant was pretty empty, it was still early, the waitress was very nice and attentive, explaining the menu, specials, and wines. The complimentary bread was very good! We even asked for more, for appetizer we ordered the shrimp, calamari, and crab cake, all were very good. I was very surprised that the crab cake was actually lumps of crab, rather than shredded crab, like most restaurants, after pigging out on bread, and all the appetizers I could have cared less about my entree, but I already ordered the sea base, thankfully it was a nice sizable piece, not too much, and for this being the first time I had sea base, it was deliciously! Very meaty, flavorful, and went well with all the dipping sauces they give you. I had it with garlic mash, and it was perfect! We also ordered the truffle macaroni & cheese, I wasn't impressed, took one bite and didn't touch it after that. I should have know better not to order that, or expect it to be good. But overall very impressed! Especially for a chain seafood restaurant.

  2. This is one of the nicer, more affordable chain restaurants around, especially when it comes to seafood. A much more upscale atmosphere than Red Lobster but not to the scale of McCormick's. At our last meal there, my wife had the crab cakes and I had the pecan crusted tilapia – both excellent. Their bar is a bit light on beer menu but my wife had a pomegranate martini which she said was very good. We go there about two or three times a year – much better now that you can make reservations – online even. We don't go more because it is a bit pricey (as is most good seafood restaurants) and they haven't changed their menu since we've been going there – however long the Route 1 location has been open. They do have specials which helps to vary the menu. Their staff is generally good however we have experienced occasions where that has not been the case.

  3. I'll start by saying I'm really not a restaurant chain person. You couldn't pay me to go to Fridays or Applebee's, but I absolutely love Bonefish. Bang bang shrimp is amazing, brunch menu is delicious, I've really never been disappointed here. The staff is very professional which is sometimes hard to find at the corporate restaurants. My friend and I go just for the bar once in awhile because it's cozy and they run good specials! I recommend signing up for the emails through their website, they usually have good promotions!

  4. Came with a group of friends. I have never been to this chain before. I ordered the Pecan Parmesan Crusted Rainbow Trout. I didn't love it but it's not bad. I heard great things about the Chilean Sea Bass. It tasted really good with the mango salsa. We also shared the Bang Bang Shrimp, which tasted really good with the salad too.
I had the spirit-free Specialty Fresh Blackberry Smash. It was so good!!! lemon, blackberries, club soda and some other things and it was sweet and refreshing. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't drink alcohol!

  5. They sat us quickly on a Saturday night with a full house but the service other wise was terrible.  The waitress didn't come for 15 minutes and we didn't get our bread until after the meal arrived.

Besides the service, the food was good. I got the grilled lamb with potatoes and broccoli.  The lamb was a 6/10 and the sides were both very good.  The bread was at least fresh when it came to the table.

It was also pretty cold where we were seated and I needed a jacket.

  6. The Bonefish Grill is highly overrated. I would give them 2-stars, but I will admit that the Bang Bang Shrimp is worth coming for. I've been here for lunch and dinner, and neither time was very impressed with the selection. This time we went for brunch. I had heard how the Bonefish was famous for bottomless mimosas for brunch, so why not… but not at this one… $5 a pop for what turns out to be mostly orange juice… too bad.

  7. Came here in the mode for fish and wanted to try something new. A new fish would have made me happy.  The place interior is very attractive, dim, lots of earth tones.  The establishment was PACKED on a Sat. night, our waitress seemed like she had a long evening but was pleasant.  Their specials menu caught my eye so from it I ordered the Turbot my side and app.  The waitress came back 5 mins later and told me that fish was sold out for the night.  Reluctantly, I looked for another exotic fish.  I choose to go with the Opah "Moonfish" which whose meat resembled the swordfish.  5min later the manager came over to tell me they were out of the Opah and felt terrible that I ordered two items in a row that was sold out.  (Why wouldn't the waitress know whats available or not available? Why let your customers go through the headache of picking a sold out fish)  I laughed it off and teased the waitress by asking why she hates me so much.  Well I ended up getting a SeaBass which was tasty.  Unfortunately I couldn't get a fish I never experienced but the kind manager attempted to make up for their mistake by taking off my drink and appetizer.    I appreciated their generosity.

A Lesson for Bonefish: If you will notify your staff what is available then Bonefish wouldn't lose money by giving away free food and I wouldn't have lost 20 mins choosing a fish.

  8. Years after my first visit to this Bonefish Grill, I am happy to  report that I still really like dining here! I visited during the midst of the Blizzard of 2015 aka Juno and while Juno was disappointing in what it brought, many restaurants were closing down early based on the premise of what the meteorologists were predicting. We arrived in the snow storm and were told that we can dine in! Thank you dedicated employees for providing me with a place to eat!
