  1. This place might be the best hidden gem in Astoria, other than that pizza place by the water that's so secret I forgot its name. Extremely friendly (albeit sometimes slow) service.

Burger – goddamn. By far the best burger in Astoria. Better by leagues than bareburger or Burger Club, and a bit above the Sparrow.

Nosh Fries – fries with sausage gravy and pico de gallo. A neat combination I'm rather surprised no one's thought to try before.

Biscuits and Gravy – the biscuits are dense and have a bit of Biscuick flavor to them, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The gravy is the same sausage gravy as on the fries, with the right amount of seasoning (aka salt).

Mac and Cheese – very decently cheesy, and just salty enough. You do have to eat it quickly, though, because it congeals fast, and it congeals HARD.

Wafco's – Bahn mi style (i.e., with daikon, carrot, and cilantro) tender boiled chicken, pulled pork, or brisket (I didn't have the brisket) in a very lightly sweet waffle shell. Comes with a homemade white sauce, a not-very-spicy red sauce, and a chimichurri. This is clearly their gimmick, and it's a neat idea. The waffle could be a bit harder, as it loses some integrity, but I like the little bit of sweetness in it.

This place is definitely worth dropping by for takeout or delivery if you're in the Astoria environs. It's not really a sit down place (limited drinks, no alcohol), so I'm not sure if it's a destination, but locals should be swarming this place.

  2. I wish I could give them ten stars. Mac and cheese is my culinary life so I was blown away that this three-thumbs-up mac was overshadowed by the Bánh mì burger. Literally the best burger I've ever had. The woman at the front introduced me to the menu and even served me a special treat! Sweet potato beignets just to try! A-maz-ing. Super friendly. Super clean. When I move to Astoria, I'm going here all the time.

  3. This place was really awesome. The Nosh Burger was very very good. The bun was probably the best part, it tasted like they buttered it and then crisped it up around the edges.

We got Nosh Fries with our burgers and those were pretty unique. The sausage gravy with pico de gallo is a brave idea and it actually works in a lot of ways.

The place is really quiet and the only weird thing was they didn't play any music and the inside sort of looks like the waiting room of a dentist's office… but hey we came here for the food! And that burger was legit, loaded with awesome toppings, the bacon marmalade was key, and for only $8.25, I can't complain.

I would definitely try this place if you're in the area.

  4. It's a hidden gem tucked away in Astoria! It is actually open at 12pm. You can't fool me yelp with these misleading business hours. Foodies will always find their food.

I ordered the Nosh Burger, a side order of their mac n cheese and a soda. First thing that I noticed was the amazing customer service. She smiled and took her time taking my order. Best service that I ever received. The second time that I noticed was that the cook was very thoughtful in the preparation of my meal. This thing came out looking perfect. I was impressed with the food presentation- take a look at the burger and the soda can next to it. The mac n cheese is very good- I do recommend eating it while its hot. The taste diminishes as the cheese gets cool and harden. The food was very tasty- well flavored. The food is a bargain given the prices. When I was finishing my meal- the cook came over and gave me a pumpkin beignet on the house. Ummm….yes! I like ya from the meal, but now I love ya. Another customer got one as well. No special treatment here- just very good service. Good food w/ amazing customer service. I'm now a fan!

  5. Tremendous!!!  One of the single best areas in the area, fries were still super hot and crisp, awesomely friendly delivery guy, wicked fast delivery, nailed every special request, awesome sides, great pricing.  DOOOO EEEETTT!!!

  6. Every time I come here, the owners are so sunny and welcoming. Their food consistently is amazing. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a bit of home.

  7. Beef brisket wafco is the BOMB! Try it spicy, if you like fresh jalapeno peppers! Also, please do not skip out on the Nosh fries, which comes with gravy and pico de gallo. Trust me you will not regret it & it is worth every single calorie!

  8. I tried coming to this place for the past week and it was closed every time I came. I came right when it was supposed to be open according to yelp. One day, I came 30 min after it opened and another day I came 1 hr after it was supposedly open and it was closed. I was really sad and thought the place had closed down permanently. Despite being discouraged from coming, I tried to come closer to late afternoon/evening time. To my surprise, it was open!!

Finally got a chance to try this place for dinner. Came here with a group of 2 and we had no issues finding a seat. The place wasn't that busy. Overall, the food was excellent. Made by two very friendly chefs (co-owners).

We had their Smoked & Marinated Pulled Pork because I they said ran out of the Smoked Beef Brisket (I just assume that they didn't have enough) because I was able to order the Wafco (I assume waffle+cone) smoked beef brisket. All their meats were tasty and tender. The pulled pork was well seasoned and it went well with the sauces that came with the dish. My favorite sauce was the green sauce to go with the pulled pork and the red sauce for the biscuit. As for the beef brisket, I got to try it in the Wafco and I also thought it was good but perhaps a little less marinated and/or seasoned. The Wafco was excellently made. Nothing was burnt and it was not soggy when it was served to us. All the ingredients were fresh, crunchy, and still moist in inherent water content. It is a variation to the Vietnamese sandwich banh mi but I like this more even though it's a little harder to eat in comparison. The baguette in the traditional banh mi sometimes can cut the roof of your mouth and that's super annoying but it holds the ingredients much better than the Wafco. Having said that, I like the lightness of the waffle. It doesn't sit as heavy as a baguette.

The biscuit that came with the platter was alright. Nothing special to it. I do recommend just a little of butter or a sweet glaze and sea salt added to the top would go a long way. As of now, it's a traditional biscuit that is generally dry, just like something you would get at Popeyes (minus the tons of butter Popeyes uses).

We also ordered the mac and cheese and it was tasty. They definitely didn't skimp out on the cheeses and I'm glad they used more than one type of cheese because when I make my own, I use at least 3 types of cheeses. For me, I think the combination of cheeses used really makes the mac n cheese stand out. The combination they chose worked for them.

We also had the roasted sweet potatoes with bacon. I really enjoyed the sweet potatoes but didn't get much flavor of the bacon.

As from other reviewers, we had to try their Sweet Potato Beignet (aka English fritter). I'm not sure what type of dough they used, I'm assuming either choux pastry or yeast. Regardless, it was excellent. I would definitely come here just to grab these for a dessert snack. I also thought these would be great to bring to a get together or dinner event at a friends' house. Of course I would order a dozen or more but I do hope a special rate can be worked out =D

We did get a chance to talk to the chefs and there might be seasonal beignets based on whatever fruits are in season. I think that is an awesome idea and looking forward to see what they come up with next.

We did get to try a complimentary chocolate and peanut butter tart. Out of the 2 desserts, I much prefer the beignet. I'm not a huge chocolate lover but the chocolate is rich and I think chocolate lovers would love it. I just thought the ratio between chocolate and peanut butter tart/crust was off.

I think it'll be too much food for lunch at that price point but this is perfect place for dinner at that price point. Also, you won't have any issues with the stores being closed if you come here for dinner =D

Overall, this is a great place and a welcomed addition to the neighborhood.I highly recommend it for dinner and I'm definitely bringing my friends here.
