  1. we usually stop here for a couple of slices after working up an appetite at nearby Marshalls…the mushroom slice is one of the best ones i've had…i like that you have the option of eating casually on one side of the restaurant (which is very kid friendly) or sitting down for a full meal with drinks/cocktails on the restaurant side…there is also ample parking…and it is conveniently located on route 10.

  2. -THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT ONLY.-

The Italian/pizzeria part of the Godfather seems to be pretty divisive in terms of reviews, but I enjoyed my time at their seafood restaurant (the door on the right as you enter). I recently developed a love for raw oysters and was on the hunt for an affordable raw bar and am so glad I found this place. Less than $2 per oyster is a great deal to me and they were really good.

We ordered a seafood pasta dish and the lobster bisque as well. The seafood pasta was good. The lobster bisque came in a bowl that was way larger than I expected. The bisque was good in terms of texture, but could have used more lobster as the flavor didn't really come out.

We ordered a couple of drinks which were STRONG. I'm talking drinks that are sound super fruity girly on paper, and came out like they were meant for vodka-hardened Russians. Good if all you care about is bang for your buck, not so great if what you really want are balanced drinks and looking to drive home sober.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is modern and they have a nice bar area with multiple TVs.

This is going to be my regular place to satisfy raw bar cravings from now on.

  3. Most amazing pizza in the area! This place has delicious food and I absolutely love it. Definitely am there every week ever since I started working at Novartis! The service is amazing whether you are eating in or taking out. My favorite pizza place. Need to try some of the pasta but have not done so as of yet!!!! Love love love!!!!

  4. I used to work here and I love everything they make and everything on the menu. Their food is fantastic; the real deal. I especially crave their linguini and red clam sauce (I have dreams about it, it's THAT good), penne vodka, chicken savoy pizza, crab cakes and seafood salad and their sandwiches are awesome. The use the best cold cuts and bread is Sorrentos, so yum) The owner, his family and the managers are really the nicest people you'll ever know and I have many great memories with them. If you want authentic italian food, a nice ambiance and excellent service then u need to come here…! 🙂

  5. I come here about once every 2 weeks with coworkers for lunch. The past couple time the pizza just hasn't been what I'm used to from this place. The guy at the cashier and guy taking orders are rude. Also $4.50 per slice seems like robbery to me especially after going to Rutgers for 4 years where slices were better and cost $1-2.

  6. The Man and I stopped in here for dinner one night after hanging out at the mall and swinging over to Best Buy for some cheap DVDs. He'd gotten pizza here before, so I was game to give it a shot. Like a lot of Italian places, you face two options when you walk through the front door: a door leading to the restaurant side and a door leading to the pizzeria side. Since I wasn't in the mood to sit around for too long, we opted for the pizzeria side. When you enter, there are some tables lining the walls on either side (looked like 4-tops). There is apparently another seating area next to it separated by a wall. As it was a Saturday night, it was crazy crowded, so The Man grabbed the only empty table in the place while I went to look at the offerings.

We both ended up deciding on pizza – sausage for him, bruschetta for me. We went up to the counter to order our slices, some mozzarella sticks, and a side salad. After paying, we returned to the little table we had staked out and waited for our food. The wait was probably only about 10 minutes or so, but felt like an eternity because the restaurant was so noisy. That's not a knock or a criticism – this is a place where you have to be prepared for a lot of noise when it's busy. Anyway, I go up and grab our appetizers. The first thing I noticed is that the salad was small. I know that I ordered a side salad, but this was not the small salad I was used to at pizza places. The small salad I get elsewhere are roughly twice the size for the same price so this was kind of surprising. The mozzarella sticks were okay, but not exceptional to either of us – we've definitely had better elsewhere.

As we were finishing up our starters, we got called for our slices. Thank goodness, because were starving. After the so-so apps, the pizza turned around our evening. Our slices were delicious and satisfying. The Man's slices had that lovely thin crust with flavorful slices of sausage nestled into the melty cheese. Mine had the same beautiful thin crust, but it was served warm with tons of ripe red tomatoes, garlic and basil on top. So delicious and gone so quickly. I'm pretty sure neither of us came up for air until we'd finished our slices.

We didn't stick around long as the dining room was full of very loud kids by this point, but we were pretty satisfied with our meal. While our starters left a lot to be desired, their pizzas really are the main attraction. Even though we prefer our local pizza joint, we're not opposed to grabbing a bite at Godfather's again if we're in the area.

  7. An absolutely fine Italian pizza and fast/comfort food joint.
Pasta, salads, sandwiches, appetizers, mains, all done well and reasonably priced. Portion sizes are more than adequate.
The selection is substantial, the service is fairly quick and you get a good meal. It's pretty loud and a touch cramped. Its a great place for families and kids, but whe the food is decent enough, it's not a fine dining place.
Parking is not a problem, as its in a strip mall with a large lot.

It's your basic NJ pizza/Italian joint. No frills, but a good meal.

  8. good Italian bread and focaccia. clams casino freshly made to order. having sat at the raw bar, I am impressed because I know a good shucking when I see it. Beware: crowded as hell on weekends. frito misto oily with VERY oily fried potato slices. Godfather salad with shrimp, crab and lobster was ok, but could have been yummy — if they used real Maine lobster. it was a weird, tasteless "lobster" they used as the salad's centerpiece served in its shell. it felt very cold as if it had been frozen and when I pushed on it, it mushed in and had no firmness. the waitress informed me that lobster indeed has no taste and that it was steamed fresh every morning. hmm. Calling my friend in Portland who is a lobster dealer (and sends some down with his wife when we rent a beach house) to let him know. this breaking industry news. They're opening one in Motown by the train station soon.
