El Ranchito Mexican Restaurant
“We ordered th el ranchito which came with so many different types of meat (chicken, pork chops, steak) with a side of guac, pico de gallo, and spanish rice.”
“In that way, the tacos here are more Mexican than Jose Tejas (which is Tex-mex), but I do wish they had bolder flavors, and hence the 4 stars.”
“The seasoned pork was absolutely delicious!!!”

This was such a happy accident!!! We were driving through the state and wanted Mexican food. Of course we tried going to Jose Tejas but there was a nightmarish wait. We were famished.
We looked around for other Mexican spots & this one popped up a little over a mile away. Reluctantly, we went to get lunch. It was a bit empty but nice & clean. A little hard to find. Parked on the street.
We had tacos: steak, chicken, and seasoned pork. We also has horchata drink. The steak & chicken were a little drier than I liked them but flavorful nonetheless. The seasoned pork was absolutely delicious!!!
I definitely recommend. Authentic tacos with corn shells and very affordable prices. I'm a fan!

El Ranchito is good Mexican food for this area of NJ!
My homies and I have ordered takeout from here a few times. To date I've tired the following:
– Steak Enchiladas – I'd order again as the green sauce was everything.
– Chicken burrito – It was good, protein to rice portions were off.
– El Ranchito dish – It was good, but I think I went in with high expectations.
– Tostadas – I enjoyed the tostadas the most! They were crispy and prepared lovely!
All in all everything was good folks. Being from NYC and North NJ – I'm surrounded with tons of Mexican cuisine options so my taste buds might be jaded! I say stop in and try out El Ranchito! One of these days I'd love to actually stop in, dine and enjoy a meal here. Seems like everyone who dines in enjoys this spot more. Later peeps!
Stumbled upon this place & i am so glad my bf and I decided to eat dinner here. I think it's a good place for a hearty meal. Everything we tasted was so good!
One thing i love about most mexican restaurants is how they start you off with a bowl of tortilla chips with different types of salsa. The ones we tried were unique and bursting with flavors. The red salsa was spicy and unique- unlike any salsa dip I've ever tried before. The green salsa was light and refreshing- tasted like cilantro and lime.
We ordered th el ranchito which came with so many different types of meat (chicken, pork chops, steak) with a side of guac, pico de gallo, and spanish rice. They also give you fresh tortilla bread to make a burrito out of all the food on your plate. This dish was enough to feed 2 people. We ended up taking most of it home with us.
We also tried the chicken and steak tacos. Very simple with the meat, the salsa, bean, and rice…but it tasted amazing. I think the meat was seasoned & cooked well, which made all the difference.
I can see this place bustling with customers because it's on the corner of a busy street (right across the south amboy train station). I would definitely recommend this place for pickup or for dine-in.
