Ambiance/Decor/Atmosphere: Typical grill/luncheonette setting with burgundy and sky blue colors. Nice Mexican cultural paraphernalia, pictures, and decorations hanging around to celebrate the day.
Noise/sound level: We were the only ones in the restaurant eating on a Saturday evening over Memorial day weekend so it was quiet. Since the place is smaller I doubt echoes or loud sounds will disturb you.
Menu: Interesting and relatively large diner like menu with burgers, wraps, sandwiches, paninis, but as you scroll down further you encounter Mexican fare. This place has some items you don't normally see around these parts; sopes, sincronizadas, and different spins on tortas. If you prefer more fork and knife meals they also have a variety.
Service: We were greeted and served by a young woman who was friendly, warm, welcoming, and inviting. Ticket times were nice too; food came out in about 10 minutes.
Food: The complimentary homemade tortilla chips and salsa are among the best I've ever had; light, fluffy, crunchy, and salty. I ordered a chorizo torta and sopes while my wife had chicken fingers and fries. She wanted simple diner food while I wanted a little more authentic Mexican. The chorizo torta had diced jalapenos, cheese, beans, tomatoes, and lettuce, and was damn delicious. It was a great sandwich! The sopes were okay, needed a ton of salt, but the salsas on the side were nice.
Bar: None
Price: Cheap, three meals and two sodas came out to $28.
Overall: Considering the wide range of food available I'd return often. They even serve breakfast.
I wanted to try this place for a while. I kept passing it on the bus so I decided it was time to give it a taste. My simple review is over priced and plain boring. I ordered a Chicken with Mole Poblano. The rice was yellow but plain. The beans seemed like someone had cooked them way too long and were soggy. For the price of this dish I would have expected more then a small leg and wing; most other places serve this dish with a breast or two of chicken.
Needless to say I was left utterly upset with my meal for the cost. The décor in the restaurant is ethnic / Hispanic and although it is cute I was not impressed.
Sad – I really had high hopes for this place.
