It's finally here: Armenian Food in Manhattan!
Anoosh Fine Foods is a food stand new entry at Urbanspace Broadway Bites that just recently opened. They serve delicious treats every day, from 11am to 9pm. You have to try their Lahmajoon family recipe: a homemade crust topped with ground beef, garlic, onion, tomato with spices & herbs, citrus greens and Armenian string cheese. F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S. They also have vegetarian and vegan options, plus delicious homemade walnut baklava.
Executive chef Alex Geudelekian stands in the back creating wonders, while Sam Harrington manages the front. Jimmy Kunz is also part of the venture. They are open every day from 11am to 9pm.
Amazingly tasty and filling! I can't wait to go back. 🙂
This is my first time trying Armenian food and its not bad.
PROS:
– Lahmajoon $10 (meat pie: contains spiced ground beef, melted string cheese, citrus greens, roasted red pepper and walnut pesto). The meat pie looked like a pizza to me. Flavor wise, it was pretty interesting as it was cheesy, citrus, sloppy joe meat kind of taste. I like that this had a bunch of green leaves on top and that it's not just meat. I really liked the crust, it was super crunchy. To be honest, I didn't really taste the walnut pesto flavor. I guess its super subtle? 4 STARS
CONS:
– Dolma (stuffed grape leaves) – I didn't really like the stuffed grape leaves. Rice is what's between the leaves. It tasted pickled and citrusy – not the kind I like, however it was nice of them to let me try one. 1 STAR
