Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas
“All my guests complimented the food starting from the cheese and prosciutto at the beginning to the ciambelle served as dessert.”
“The beet and goat cheese salad was not only gorgeous, but was a lovely combination of flavors that I immediately want to try recreating at home.”
“Parmigiano Reggiano with Brunello di Montalcino 2007
Ok food-wise, I think my order ranks watermelon, squid ink or chicken, and then pork.”

Great place for dinner with a close friend or a date. It's tapas, so good to come with someone where you can share!
They have an extensive wine selection. They also have good specialty cocktails at good prices.
The food is fresh and of good quality. I really enjoy the shrimp scampi bruschetta, fungi pizza, and Brussel sprouts. Yes, I said Brussel sprouts. Seriously, they're delicious.
Service is friendly and attentive.
Came here for a nice, relaxed dinner. This is tapas style eating, numerous small plates. They were all good, the decor and wine selection were good. Nice place to get dressed up and spend some time. They sat us in this far away wing were they sort of forgot about us for a period of time. Then more people came in and they remembered us. The octopus was super good. Prices a bit high for the salads….
For a "chain" like establishment, this joint surprised me so much. Hands down, i will come back here soley for the bruscetta. Coming from someone who has italian roots, that says alot. Although ive only tried 3 types, even my least favorite of the night was still good! least favorite was the onion and goat cheese—a bit too mooshy to me. Next one was the seared tuna. i was a little let down by the lack of tuna flavor, but there was plenty of tuna and it was fresh. the texture between the tuna and the slightly crunchy bread was perfect. However, my favorite was the strawberry and mascapone. the marriage of honey, mascapone and strawberry was absolutely perfect. id eat plate fulls of this! The aracini balls were great too. at first glance i was worried, they looked a bit too charred..but let me tell ya..the inside were moist and cheesy. Perfect to share with someone and tasted delish! Sadly, the pizza was a bit of a let down. They werent kidding when they said it was a flat bread. To be honest, the fungi pizze with truffle oil was okay–i was not impressed, i do commend them for putting the perfect amount of truffle oil on the pizza tho. sometimes people can either be cheap with it. or have a heavy hand but at Spuntino it was perfect.
I'm usually here for drinks and apps, but I'm always happy when I come. The whole staff is friendly and accommodating. Hungry? Thirsty? Come on in and ENJOY!!!
So glad I made it here after missing a recent Yelp elite event! Came with a friend I hadn't seen in a while on a Saturday night to catch up, and this ended up being a perfect location for the occasion. Made a quick reservation the day before; there were plenty of openings and you can understand why when you see the size of this place!
After a round of drinks and a lot of chit chat, we finally remembered to look at the menu and ordered 5 plates. The waitress had recommended about 4-6 plates per person (I think), but that sounded like a lot to us and we weren't starving so we figured we would play it by ear. Below is everything we ordered:
Caramelized Onion Bruschetta: onions and goat cheese are some of my favorite things so I absolutely loved this!
Calamari: calamari was well cooked but the sauce was really unoriginal, tasted like something out of a jar-a little disappointing
Arugala Salad: good, but nothing special. Again, I loved the specific ingredients so it worked for me.
FIg & Proscuitto Pizza: I should have known that this was going to be an overpowering combination, but I figured the portions of components would be moderate. Should have went with my gut because it was just all too much. The gorgonzola was laid on way too thick and the fig jam was SO sweet that the mushrooms and onions just sort of got lost in the mix. I ended up just eating all the proscuitto off the top and some of the crust.
Arancini: Crispy, but lackluster in flavor. The sauce was the same as the calamari, so overall just ok.
Drinks were great! I was sipping on the Orange Pomegranate Cosmo and my friend was having the Blood Orange Martini, both delicious.
You might be thinking my review doesn't exactly reflect the number of stars but, I'm giving this place the benefit of the doubt. Maybe we didn't order the best things on the menu, maybe the kitchen was swamped, who knows. I loved the ambience and the idea of an Italian tapas place is definitely unchartered territory for me so I'll come back and hopefully my taste buds will have a better time then.
When I first heard that Spuntino was opening, I foolishly thought it was related to Frankies Spuntino. No such luck. Anyway, Spuntino is probably the best spot in Clifton Commons (with neighbors such as Applebees, Chevy's and the Shannon Rose). Drinks are pretty good, food is decent. I had some great cappuccino there recently as well. There is definitely a date vibe going on here.
I am not giving it four stars because it has a chain feel to it. But definitely the best option in Clifton Commons.
I have a place right behind this restaurant
Took me 6 months
Me and my son liked it
Very friendly staff
Eclectic fusion tapas in my opinion
The atmosphere and decor are great
Parking was easy
Had a nice server, a young Cuban guy
Was so friendly…
The scallops were cooked nicely.
I had several items. But the scallops stood out.
Will return
Right upon walking in, I knew I'd love Spuntino. It is well decorated with a perfect "upper class, but not at all snobby happy hour anytime" feel. I know I just made that up, but you'll see!! The staff was all super friendly, especially our waitress. Wish I remembered her name!
She explained all of the night's specials thoroughly and with perfect detail- even convinced us to try the wine on special. It was delicious and we ordered a bottle! The menu was comprised of a great selection of wine and tapas.
My favorite was the Octopus with the Farro – every part of the dish was cooked to perfection. Close second was the Cauliflower with Pine Nuts & Golden Raisins! Unfortunately since I'm so picky, it was tough to try as many dishes as I'd like in order to compromise with my friend, but either way I love the concept, atmosphere and menu and would definitely return. Highly suggest, especially for bigger parties!!
