Oishi Sushi

“Probably the fastest delivery I've ever had, the food is always fresh, I get the salmon teriyaki box with brown rice, it's amazing!”

“I would also recommend the Bonsai Tree and the Sunshine Roll…both were a good twist on the standard sushi menu.”

“When I first entered I noticed there wasn't much space or seating, it is more of a take out place.”

  1. What?! Why is this so good and cheap and my order comes to my door like 15 seconds after I order it. Perhaps this restaurant is run by wizards. I have never been there in person so I will assume they are magical wizards.

    Sweet.

  2. I never thought I'd go all the way to Greenpoint for sushi but the Yelp app beckoned, and I obeyed.

Went here with some friends for dinner. It's a small but clean place and was pretty empty for a Saturday night. Three of us ordered 3-roll combinations with soup (only $11.50!) and one ordered a sashimi platter. Service was polite and food came quickly, which is good because we were starving! Everything was fresh and good, I loved my salmon, tuna, and eel avocado rolls. My friend's sashimi platter came with a decorative martini glass that had a blinking multicolored light in it – festive!

Great neighborhood spot. Hopefully business picks up here.

  3. This place is another staple of Greenpoint. It seems like they depend on delivery and take out orders for most of their business, which is absolutely fine with me because it's so fun to have the place to ourselves for an easy, inexpensive, and absolutely delicious meal. Especially on a nice summer night with the large front windows open, it can be a cute little romantic date night with a great breeze. Plus, it's BYOB which I love for my wallet and drink preferences. Any sushi item I've ever ordered was made fast and well, and the bento teriyaki dinner boxes come with so much food and are pretty cheap. I usually go with salmon teriyaki if I get one, and there is so much fish and it's amazingly crispy on the outside, which is nom. I love Oishi!

  4. I love Oishi Sushi!
They have so many excellent lunch specials at great prices. You can get 2 rolls of your choice and a soup or salad for only $7.95! Good sized rolls too (not the super skinny ones with tiny pieces of fish).

The "Lunch Box" is also a major steal. I usually get the one with Teriyaki Shrimp and it also comes with shumai, soup, salad, rice, a California Roll (if you pay $1 extra, you can sub a different roll)…all for $7.95…INSANITY!

The staff here is also very nice, and my order is always done super quickly. You can't go wrong with Oishi! Don't forget to grab some apple-flavored candies on your way out.

  5. The goyza dough was really chewy and the accompanying soy sauce tasted off.

The lobster king roll sounded like it would be interesting: Coconut shrimp tempura topped with lobster, avocado and eel sauce. It was pretty bad. The coconut was SO overpowering, and there wasn't enough eel sauce so it was dry even with the avocado. The lobster, wherever it was, couldn't be tasted over the coconut.

The I love salmon roll was fine. The only thing I really loved was their spicy scallop roll. It has a nice little kick and the scallop is all chopped up and blended instead of being a solid piece wrapped up. I like scallop rolls served both ways but this just happened to work really well.

  6. Stumbled upon this place on Yelp after a fun time at 29Rooms. I was looking for a fairly inexpensive meal that would hold me over until dinner. I ordered the spicy kani roll and an avocado cucumber roll with spicy mayo on top. Both rolls were delicious and I have no quarrels with the food. Spicy kani was priced at $4.50 which is pretty reasonable and the cucumber avocado was priced around $3.25 which is also pretty reasonable. The woman standing behind the register greeted my friend and I as we entered as well as brought us water. I look forward to trying more things at this place and I definitely recommend it if you're looking for affordable sushi with a casual setting.

P.S. They have some sweet deals: 3 rolls for $11.50 (comes with soup or salad) and the teriyaki specials come with shumai, a California roll and a soup or salad for $7.95!
