Carrabba's is up there in the Italian chain restaurant business! The hot bread with olive oil n black peppers is very good. Pasta & Chicken dishes are very good. Pizza here isnt bad either, crispy crust and sauce is very good. The service is great the past two times ive been here, so no complaints here. It has a nice ambiance as well.
Did not order drinks, so I couldnt tell you how good the alcohol was.
I have been to Carrabba's in a number of cities and states but this was my first trip to the Middletown location.
It was a Saturday night and they were crowded, as I expected. since I was eating alone the bar was a perfect spot for dinner.
First, I need to say that when they designed the bar area they were not thinking of just how busy it might become. The space is limited and when you add in two bartenders, making drinks and espresso/cappuccino it is a recipe for disaster. The only way into the bar is to go under the surface (the lift up gate is not able to be opened) and dodge the piles of glasses, etc. on the floor.
My meal, however, was great. I had the Mr. and Mrs. C's House special, two small, stuffed chicken breasts with green beans. I added a side Caesar salad which was quite good, along with bread for dipping in olive oil. The house red wine at $5 a glass wasn't half bad.
Finished off dinner with a cappuccino which was quite good. All in all, not a bad meal for just under $30. Too bad it is always crowded.
I haven't been to a Carrbabb'as since I was in high school. I was pleasantly surprised about the meals here. They are standard Italian pasta dishes, nothing spectacular but nothing horrible. Service was friendly and prompt. As a general rule, I would recommend steering clear from the fish dishes. I got a fish dish and it was sub-par. This is something I noticed at big Italian chain restaurants, bad seafood.
To me, this is comparable to olive garden with a little higher quality. In my opinion, olive garden is catered more for larger parties though. This is the place that my family and I usually come to when we go out. The service is great and we have never had a bad experience. The pasta weesie is my go to dish. The chicken marsala is good as well. I would recommend one of the pastas over anything else.
First I'd like to say that the service was fantastic. Called ahead and they had a table waiting for us. We were on a time frame as we were heading to the movies and they were very accommodating. Haven't been in for years and had a free entree coupon so decided to go back. They have a good variety of GF food on the menu and its marked. Soup or salad with each enter and a fresh vegetable. We chose minestrone soup (GF) and sausage soup, tilapia and salmon. Soups were very good but sausage is on spicy side so if you don't like a little heat don't order. The salmon had a lovely lemon sauce on it but it was so over cooked, so the sauce saved it. The place is very crowded and they have been here for years, so they are doing something right.
