I should have ordered Don. I ordered only 5 pcs of Nigiri-Sushi and a glass of wine. It costs $42.79-. I think it is too expensive since it was avarage $7 each . Nigiri-Sushis were not bad but they were not fantastic. I will order Don next time.
Wow, my salmon sashimi, cucumber salad, and noodle bowl was like almost $20 by itself, but it was delicious and I felt healthy after eating it. I also love that this location of Blue Ribbon is in Hudson Eats, the most beautiful beautiful food court I've ever seen in Manhattan, or actually anywhere else. High prices aside, the fish was so fresh, flavorful, and the salad was crisp, refreshing, and pickled just the right amount. Definitely enjoyable, but be prepared to splurge.
After going to the One World Observation, we decided to check out Brookfield Place, which was the next block over.
I ordered the Sushi + Maki and a Japanese beer.
The sushi and maki consisted of a small, tiny California roll and a few assorted sushi pieces. For $16 dollars, this seemed high considering this is a fast food, food court and a self serve kind of place.
The beer was excellent, but extremely expensive. For a hefty $12 at a food court, it seemed like highway robbery! $30.48 later, I was hungry afterwards and had to get some more food elsewhere.
Service was okay, since you wait in line, order, pay and in my case, they gave me a buzzer to notify my when my order is ready. When the buZzer activated, I had to walk up to the counter to pick up my food, or "tiny" snack. The food was in a takeout container, similar to a grocery sushi box and was on a cafeteria style tray. Even the soy sauce and sauce container were in plastic.
The food was good, but nothing special.
I would try another place in the food court next time around and definitely will pass on this place.
Looks better than it tastes. Cost $17-20
I've tried 3 other pokebowl places in NYC and this place is the worst out of them. Go to Pokeworks.
They do not have many toppings to pick from. You get to pick one fish, one vegetable, and one base. I got the green noodles with salmon poke and seaweed salad. Now I am feeling kind of sick. Stomachache 🙁
For the price – not worth it. Other pokebowls are cheaper and you get more bang for your buck there …not here.
I went for a quick dinner and got the bento bowl with green tea soba, seaweed salad and salmon poke. I thought all the ingredients were fresh and it mixed well. For $16, I think it was ok. Quick and easy.
Poke bowls! LOVE this place their poke bowl is so delicious and fresh and really hard to find a good quick sushi place downtown. Love the salmon poke and tuna poke bento bowls. The spicy shrimp is good. You get one fish one veg and rice or noodles. If you ask they can do half tuna half salmon and for example half tofu half hijiki edamame salad. My current lunch/dinner obsession. The service is beyond efficient and portions are generous.
My least favorite location of blue ribbon sushi, mostly because my expectation was too high. It's a decent spot for quick and healthy bite, and the staff is really friendly. But that was all.
I've been to the Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar at Hudson Eats twice now and it's pretty good if you manage your expectations. In other words, don't expect the quality of sushi you get from the actual Blue Ribbon restaurants; this spot is just one teeny step above food court sushi.
I've tried the bento box which is a great option if you want to try a bunch of random little appetizers. (Unlike bento boxes at most other Japanese-American restaurants, you're not married to chicken teriyaki and shrimp shumai).
The tuna poke leaves a lot to be desired — the tuna should definitely be fresher.
But in all, this Blue Ribbon spot is good for satisfying that casual sushi craving.
