  1. This place has all the random ingredients for Asian cooking that you will need. They have fresh kimchi, soba noodles, mochi, and all the condiments. Also, there is a sushi bar in the back, which I was hesitant about ordering from at first, but the portions are good and the fish is good too. If you get sushi here, get the peppered fish sushi.

  2. Sure, there are cheaper places to shop in the neighborhood, but there was a time when Pine Tree was one of the few specialty places on Franklin Ave. The store is always stocked well. The not-so-secret sushi spot in the back is another reason to visit. The sushi is always fresh and the guys making it are friendly. I come here for the fancier items that Compare doesn't carry, or when I need special ingredients and I don't feel like heading into the city. The cashier are always friendly as well. $10 minimum for debt/credit, but sometimes they let you slide.

  3. Cute store. Lot of organic food/ products and definitely on the pricy side. Came for sushi but it wasn't open yet.  friendly owner. Will try again. I did buy a Yerba mate tea to keep me cool on this hot summer day.

  4. Note: Review is on the sushi bar

Came here on a date. He asked did I want to Sushi and I said sure. He says meet me here and I go ok.

I get here and I was about to walk into a martial arts studio. He says no go to Pine Tree and walk to the back of the store. I see a nice sushi bar set up and sit. The guy working the bar, Sensei Ramirez , as we dubbed him. Immediately greets me an ask if I wanted some green tea, it was a cold cold day. I drink my tea and wait for my date.

He arrives and he already knows Sensei because he has been here before. He suggests I try the Rihanna roll but doesn't let me know whats in it until after I eat it. I ate and loved it… It was banana with eel I believe omg so so good. Actually all the rolls we had were so good!

We talk to Sensei some more and I find out that he has been making sushi for 15 yrs. He was there creating all these things and you can see his love for making sushi an sashimi and  all that jazz. Im so happy, I was introduced to the sushi spot in the back of a health conscious store. I will definitely be back!
