“Usually my night starts at the upstairs bar for a nice meal then down to the cigar lounge..”
“Where Smoke Chophouse had a dark, cozy feel, Sofia is light, bright and beautiful inside, as is clearly visible from the street.”
“The sides were just as delicious as my steak- probably one of the best creamed spinach I have ever had.”

Love what they've done to the place! The space is beautiful and big! Had dinner in their "green room." Looking forward to checking out this space in the summer with the retractable roof.
The octopus app was delicious. The beet salad was small. Their hand pulled mozzarella app looks unassuming but turned out delicious.
While the Branzino was a large portion and grilled well, $42 was a bit pricey for it. The steak for two was cooked well. The butternut squash ravioli was really good, and I'm not usually a fan of ravioli. The ravioli portion was also pretty big. The brussel sprouts and creamed spinach sides were delicious; if you like either, I'd recommend getting it here. The Mac and cheese was a bit dry.
Went downstairs afterwards for cigars and cocktails, which was a nice way to end a fun night.
Really a debate between three and four stars for me. Great service – interesting touch for the tab to arrive in a cigar box. The main course of Colorado Lamb Chops was really good and it was nice to have a beer list available. For the most part, however, I did not get the idea of the Crispy Fried Artichokes with Shaved parmigiana, lemon zest. They sounded good but they arrived more burnt and dry than one would describe as crispy fried. The other ding, which other people mention, is the pricing – in general the menu items are really pushing the end of the practical limit on pricing for what you are getting.
For the area the killer feature is the valet service. Yes, other places have it too but it is almost a must for anyone coming in from outside the area and the willingness to keep the car until after a show at the theater made the four star push for me.
After months and months of waiting for Sofia to open, I most certainly have tons to say about this place. I will begin with the Good…
I dined during Valentine's day weekend, it was bitter cold outside — 1 degree (for anyone in the tristate during that time, they know that that number is no exaggeration). Not so shocking, the place was packed (true Northerners aren't afraid of Old Jack Frost, not unless its a blizzard).
Not to mention it was warm and toasty as soon as you walked thru the front door; the griddles were on high flame that night.
I absolutely love the whole concept and design of this venue; it's open, with high ceilings, a touch of modern contemporary, and the lit up "Wall of Libation" was a pretty touch.
The "Front Room" (as I am calling it) gives a fair about of space between yours and the next diners table, making it not so cramped, but utilizing the space they obviously have — my observations while we waited to be seated. A couple minutes later, the hostesses led us across the room into a back room (I'm thinking – "ugh! where are you taking us — I want to stay where its warm"). My immediate thoughts and reaction – it's friggin COLD back here…where the hell was the heat….in the Front Room! But aside from it being cold as hell, it was decorated with christmas lights, tea candles, plants, and very dim lighting; while in the front room they had excellent bright lighting (which is what I prefer b/c I like to see my food). If you are on a date and that's your thing (dim lights), then ask to be in the back — it'll be cozy (w/ pillows).
The server was very at ease, and patient while we perused the menu and waited til our palates reacted to what sounded the most appetizing on the menu. I knew I wanted lobster, so when I saw it that's what I ordered. But it was not exactly what my palate had in mind, that cognac reduction didn't really do anything for me. But my fiancé's Filet Mignon was perfect!
The drinks were yummy and delish. So we decided to have another one after our meal, along with a couple of cigars we brought with us.
We paid the bill and rotated to the Cigar Bar downstairs. I absolutely LOVE the cigar bar and wished we had of eaten our meal down there….it was WARM, dimly lit – but not dark like it was upstairs, where it was putting me to sleep. The server came by took our drink order, and got us prepped to enjoy our cigars (there is a one time $10 cutting fee).
It was the perfect end to a decent meal.
