“I never went to the previous location so I really can't compare to that place, but for what it is (more sports bar than steakhouse) Franklin Steakhouse is pretty good.”

  1. FSH has completely fallen to sh*t. Poor, poor service. The food, which was once destined for greatness, has completely gone to crap. I could go on and on about this place(negatively) but I will keep my revised review short and simple. Goodbye FSH.
*Based on what I have read from other reviews, most people agree with what I am saying.

  2. Nice bar area with REALLY affordable drinks!  I didn't try any food but happy hour doesn't get much happier than this folks!!!!  Nice bartender, will def be back.

  3. We must have had the world's grumpiest waitress and she really didn't pay attention. My husband, my son and I went for lunch on Sunday. All three of us said no to the deluxe platters – no fries or onion rings. My son ordered the smaller of the two burgers. So what did we get? My platter came with the fries and onion rings, which I didn't eat. The meat was overcooked on the sandwiches. My son's burger was ok, nothing to write home about. My steak and mozzarella sandwich (the Hoobken) was dry. My husband's burger was ok.

Our son lives close by and we were visiting him. Within hours all three of us were sick with some gastric distress, so I don't think I'll be going back any time soon.

  4. Easily the worst steakhouse I have ever been in my life. I ordered the center cut filet on suggestion by the waitress and after a few bites am feeling physically ill to my stomach. But, hey, maybe it wasn't the steak itself that was bad, could've been the entire contents of the bottle of A1 steak sauce that I had to dump on the steak to get rid of the freezer burn flavor.

There was also the powder mixed "smashed" potatoes, the water logged "sautéed" spinach, and the driest ribs my wife complained about which the waitress said "you want some more BBQ sauce?"

Last but not least, lets talk about the location itself. It's basically a sports bar with dark wood panelling, they need to rename this place the Franklin Sport Bar (especially since the best thing on the menu we ordered was the frozen chicken nuggets and obviously out of a Kraft box macaroni and cheese that we ordered for our children.)

  5. This was our first time dining at their new location.  I remembered how much I had loved one of the sandwiches at the previous location, so we decided to give it a shot for dinner.

I ordered the California Chicken Club sandwich and my husband ordered the Calabrio Chicken sandwich.  This is the same sandwich I had ordered previously, and it tasted just as good as I remembered.  My husband's sandwich was also very good (I tried a bite or two).  We both made our orders into "platters" by adding a side salad with Gorgonzola vinaigrette dressing (me) and sweet potato fries (him).  THe salad dressing was out of this world.  Everything we ate was great.

They also have a nice selection of draft beers.  I went with old reliable and ordered a Yuengling, and the hubby had one of his favorites.  When the bill came, I was shocked, my Yuengling was only $2!  Awesome!

This is a great venue to watch a sporting event in, as they have TV's covering almost every inch of wall.  There is a parking lot out back, but you have to pay a meter.

Looking forward to dining here again!

  6. Going with the concept this can't be the same people who owned the place that used to be down the street and now operate in Fairfield as this was an unmitigated disaster.  Arrived Sunday evening just past 7 when most of the the Sunday Football Crowd had departed.  6 of us seated half booth, half table right by the door which every time it opened it was freezing. OK move on.

Seated 15 minutes before server comes for drink orders.  4 Sodas and 2 beers are ordered along with our food.  Sodas come right out but beers to not show up until 20 minutes later 30 seconds ahead of the food.  In the interim we never saw the waitress during that 20 minutes, there was no silverware on the table, no napkins nada.

Food arrives and it's pretty good I'll give them that.
    Steak Salad was excellent
Italian Steak sandwich with long hot peppers on garlic bread with mozzarella was good
    Bacon Cheese burger was OK
    Two philly steaks were good
The one actually steak ordered sirloin well let's just say it's not. Steak house more of a bar type food and the steak was s dead give away.

My onion rings didn't arrive till well after the meal was over…

Fries were cold on all platters.

Spilled Ketchup on my shirt and asked for tiny bit of club soda to remove or dab was charged $2.95 for a full glass

In short food was OK service was HORRIBLE and the entire place seemed to be run haphazardly but everyone involved.  If this place makes the grade I'd be surprised looks to me like a short run for this place no way it survives operaiting the way it did last evening.

  7. Casual dining and hangout for the locals. Always a cougar or two at the bar. Crowd always seems well behaved even during UFC fights. Speaking of which, it's pretty easy to get a seat here for a fight since the entire restaurant is plastered with TVs; the bench near the bar being the most comfortable.

Beer selection is slightly better than you'd find at most places – more than 10 IIRC.

Food is never bad, but then again it's never amazing. I always go for the Italian sirloin tip sandwich with a side of tomato sauce. I need to stop doing that. $14 gets you fingertip sized portions of overcooked pieces of beef sandwiched in between a garlic bread prepared roll with mozzarella cheese. A bit pricey and the quality of preparation is a bit Eh. Good taste, but I would rather be able to eat a sandwich in its entirety instead of having to eat the bread then pick up the filling with a fork.

The inside of the place is dominated with dark woods and dated fixtures. The bar is separated from the dining area of the restaurant, but still has its own share of tables – essentially giving someone an option of how they wish to dine.

Staff is really nice even when the place is packed. Waiters are patient. Bartenders give free drinks from time to time.

If you're looking for a consistently positive dining atmosphere, this place is it. Just don't expect great food.

  8. I finally managed to dine at the Franklin Steak House after passing it only about 500 times in my life.  My friend and I decided to meet up for dinner and drinks on Wednesday night after not seeing each other for quite some time.

The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived (around 6:00 PM) and there was a small group of guys at the bar.  Happy hour apparently runs from 3:00 PM till 6:00 PM daily.

We were deep in conversation and were lax in reviewing the menu after we were seated.  Our server was cool and gave us enough time to stop yapping it up and place our order.  My friend ordered the chili and chips combo and I ordered the Italian Steak Salad.  I must say, the salad was quite good.  The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly (rare).  They didn't go overboard on the roasted red peppers (hooray) but they were a little stingy with the mozzarella cheese (boo).  The croutons were quite good.  I normally don't even bother eating croutons since they really add no value, in my opinion, however these were tasty. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her chili.  She heard that FSH is known for their chili (are they?) and that was what made her opt for it.  She ate it all and didn't skip a beat.

We split the brownie ala mode for dessert.  It was a bit stale for our liking.  The edges were chewy but not the good kind of chewy you crave from a brownie.

The Riesling was good, the food was good, service was good…it was overall good.   Solid 3 stars.
