I came here because it's close, and I have to eat sushi at least twice a week (maybe more but I like to tell myself it's twice). I think the wait staff is very nice, and the fish is alright. There were a good amount of people in the restaurant and enjoying themselves too (be advised this place is not so big, so don't come here with a group). The thing that got me the most was during my meal the staff (chef and server) proceeded to push the garbage through the dinning room (while people were eating), and put it outside (could that not have waited?). I also am not a big fan of someone handing me my soup with their finger half inside holding it (maybe I'm just a germaphobe) but still (trays?). All and all the foods alright, and the staff is nice.
No. No No No.
To avoid the long-winded diatribe where I digress endlessly and tangentially about all the things that went wrong with this experience, I will limit my unhappiness to a quick, short list that any prospective patrons should consider.
1. Don't keep staring at the person standing waiting to place a take out order and then ignore them when they ask for help: I stood, for what seemed like eons, waiting for the 1 waiter tending to the not-so-full house of 3 tables of couples, for him to ignore my pleas for assistance. To my delight the sushi chef behind the glass counter offered help. Only he didn't speak full English and asked me to instead circle my desired items. This proved problematic later on.
2. Don't move in and out of the restaurant passing waiting patrons who are obviously waiting for help. If you want to retain and/or nurture business, you need to ENGAGE your patrons. Don't just look at them and walk by them. This will only frustrate them and make them hate you. As I do.
3. $40 for a super sub-par meal. The Katsu Don and Chicken Katsu were underwhelming and strangely put together, let alone under-seasoned. The one lobster tempura roll was…just weird. At that overall price, I'll pass and keep it moving.
Today is Friday . It's lent . I need to consume fish and thought about ordering from here as its close by . I had passed by it last week and was curious .
Here's my rundown on my first impression .
1. I ordered pickup and the initial phone call was answered with " hello" not even hello " insert business name " I felt like I was talking to a young kid who had no idea what was going on and what rolls they carried . He kept me on the phone while I heard him asking the chef questions such as " what's in an Alaskan roll?" Bad first impression already. After this ordeal a girl took the phone and she seemed more knowledgeable and retook my order .
2. I ordered 4 rolls and two miso soup and fried squid . If you want to save money don't get the fried squid . It was a measly sad order of five pieces of shrunken squid for $5.95 that had no taste .The rolls are ok at best.
Summary : subpar sushi that is overpriced . You get a free 2 liter soda if you spend $50 . Who spends $50 on takeout sushi ? I've been to places in BK where I've spent $25 for MORE sushi . This place is new and they need to come up with a better scheme because people will not come back with prices like that and customer service that is lacking .
