Tum & Yum
“The food is fresh and well-made, particularly notable are the steamed dumplings, summer rolls, and drunken noodles.”
“I recommend the curry puffs, the red curry, the pad kaprow, and the crispy pork kra prow.”
“Anyhoo, decided to try yet another peanut infused cuisine that hopefully contained no peanuts from my UWS home.”

Came here on a summary Monday night with some friends trying to get my Thai food craving in. This place gets the job done, more of a 3.5 rather than a 4.
Setting: Cute little place, date night approved!
WHAT I HAD:
Pad see ew
-The flavor was just like any other place, nothing special, it was good but not great. Probably could have used a little more seasoning.
-They gave a lot of meat and Chinese broccoli which was great, but the beef wasn't too appetizing.
-Portion size on the other hand was great! Enough to share or take home for left overs.
Thai iced tea
-I thought it would come with the milk/cream like the normal Thai tea has, however it didn't….I had to ask for it and was given a little cup on the side.
-Other than not having the cream in it, I thought it was ok, nothing special, all they did was add a couple lychee fruits inside with a little of the lychee syrup.
-It was a good try, but I think I will go back to my normal Thai tea.
WHAT MY FRIENDS HAD:
Tum Yum Fried Rice
-All my friends enjoyed this dish and thought it was delicious.
-However, it had a powdery taste when I tried it.
-It was moist and not dry, but I which it had more flavor.
Service: It wasn't too busy the night I went so service wasn't bad, but nothing memorable. They were attentive, but not over the top, and let my friends and I converse away without many interruptions which I liked.
Overall: This place defiantly gets the job done. I would most likely come back a second time to try other things on the menu.
I really liked this place. It's very calm. It's a nice place to hang out with your friends and enjoy good Thai food. I ordered the vegetable tofu soup as an appetizer because I was so hungry. My friend ordered the veggie dumplings. We were both very satisfied with the light appetizers! It was just the perfect amount of food to hold you off until you got your main entree. I ordered the drunken noodles with tofu and I was pleasantly surprised! The noodles were perfect as was the tofu, veggies and spice level. I have high Thai food standards and this place is on point. My friends were all satisfied with their dishes.
Overall, I would go back to this place again. My friend who lives in the area orders lunch take out from them every so often and he's always happy! They have good lunch deals so check those out!
Cool wooden decor inside and out and also colorful stained glass. The Papaya Pad Thai was very tasty, especially with extra fish sauce and chilies. Staff could have been more friendly and helpful, so that brought down the rating from a 5.
I came here with some friends for dinner on a weeknight and enjoyed it a lot. The service is a bit meh, but the food is good. The decor of the restaurant is really cool. It's an intimate place, but they've got a full bar. I can't speak to any of the cocktails, but the drinks look pretty interesting.
I ordered the Drunken Noodle with Tofu and boy was it spicy! I really liked it that way, but it was not a dish for people with sensitive palates. They give you a ton of tofu though, which I really appreciated. I wasn't crazy about the Spring Rolls. They were a bit bland and greasy, but my friend liked them a lot.
I've tried a bunch of Thai restaurants in the area and I think I like Tum & Yum the best. It's not amazing, but I have yet to find a Thai restaurant in the area that is.
Very pleased. All the food here is very well executed. Has the standard thai dishes the every restaurant has. The see ew was really good here and had a roasted chicken also nice. Appetizers roasted eggplant was very nice and I don't even like eggplant. If I'm in the area again will definitely be back.
Delicious Thai food at a reasonable price. During my week stay in NYC, I visited several times and had the chance to try the Pad Kra Prow, Tum Yum Fried Rice, and Drunken Noodle dishes. Each one was spectacular–I'd happily go back for any of them. There was definitely some spice, which I loved. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant itself was well-decorated.
It's a good thing I don't live nearby, or I'd be here every day. Now if only we could get a place like this in Memphis!
crab fried rice. wow! giant CHUNKS of soft tender crab meat. I love this place more with every visit. chicken wings were great with chilibsauce. I also ordered extra peanut sauce. yummm. my husband always gets the Tom yum soup for dinner, so generous with seafood. we always get it. he also got some chili chicken dish he raved about. love. this. place.
I haven't found that many good Thai options in this area of Manhattan (save for Sookk), but Tum & Yum is definitely a great one. If I still lived in my first Manhattan apartment just a few blocks up the street, I'd probably be going here and / or ordering from here all of the time!
The beau and I grabbed a quick dinner here one evening; around 6:30 p.m. on a Wednesday evening, the place was EMPTY, though, by the time we left around 7:30, people began to slowly file in. The menu is quite impressive, with many excellent options besides the usual Pad Thais and fried rice dishes. That being said…we Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Thai Fried Rice, respectively. Haaa. (I wasn't in the mood for being culinarily adventurous that night. It had been a long day and I yearned for the familiarity of one of my usual Thai restaurant staples.) The Pad Thai had a great flavor with a rich tamarind sauce, though, I found the texture of a few pieces of the chicken to be a little weird and rubbery. I did have a few bites of the fried rice, which I really enjoyed! I almost got Chicken Pineapple Fried Rice, and I think I'd try that next time instead. Kale with Crispy Pork and many of the soups looked delicious! I really look forward to coming back here at another time and being a little more adventurous!
The interior is really quirky awesome, with colorful inserts in the windows (including the convicing faux windows on the north wall, with a wall full of (likely faux!) drawers adorning the east wall. It's really wonderful funky! If doesn't quite feel like you're in Manhattan Valley, but rather a hipper Thai spot in Hell's Kitchen.
With a great menu and promising 2 for 1 Happy Hour specials (which I didn't take advantage of, since I just grabbed a drink up the street at Bob's Your Uncle!), I look forward to coming back here again in the near future.
