Ayada Thai
“The raw shrimp were fresh and tasty, drunken noodles were so perfectly done not gooey like they can be, and the whole red snapper.”
“I was sad to learn that they only offered the coconut pudding and taro custard for desserts yesterday.”
“Compared to Ploy Thai or Sripraphai, I think Ayada is better, but each of the restaurants has their own fanbase.”

Dinner time at no other than Ayada Thai! Fam and I ordered:
Chicken Pad See Ew-
The flat noodles weren't available today, so fam opted for the thinner kind. Tasted good, wasn't heavy, & wouldn't have expected any less from a staple dish of most Thai restaurants, esp. Ayada.
Raw Shrimp Salad-
NYTimes recommended; Presentation was beautiful. Stabbed a raw shrimp with my fork and into my mouth it went. Cue…3…2…..1… Holy f*ck! This dish was as spicy as HELL. I regret not paying attention to the "chili" symbol and the listed ingredients on the menu. My friend and I literally lit up as we tried to pan the flames on our tongues with none other than water. 10 minutes in… the sting of the hot chili, raw garlic, and bitter melon was still there. Hotness to the max. I SHOULD'VE KNOWN by the fiery appearance of the shredded carrot in the middle of the dish. I really should've. So unexpected. After one shrimp and 3 glasses of water, I was done for the night. The taste was really good, but I couldn't handle the spiciness.
In the meantime, the patron at the table next to us was really eying my dish but held back since the waitress warned him that it would be crazy spicy, especially since it's the summer. Well here was his opportunity! Yes, FEEL THE BURRNNNN! 3 seconds later he was sucking in air like a balloon and his cheeks flushed with red.
DaYUM, indeed.
I am a loyal Spicy Shallot (across the street) customer but friends have been nagging me to try out Ayada and decided last night would be the night. I am so damn glad that I tried this place out! I believe they were one store before but with the increased popularity they expanded to the store next door so I believe we were seated in the newer of the two places. Service was alright. It was Weds and they were full so thats probably why they were a bit delayed. We got there around 830PM. We ordered the following: fried red snapper with sweet chili sauce on side, papaya salad with soft shell crab medium spice, fried chicken wings and beef drunken noodles medium spicy. One thing I hate about most Thai restaurants is that they bring food out based on first come. Ideally, I would've wanted the wings and salad first as an app and then the other two later as entrees but whatever. All 4 dishes I had were amazing. The fish was fried perfectly where the meat was still moist and tasty. The wings were phenomenal with the perfect coat of flour. The salad was a huge portion with 6 halves of crab; very good bang for your buck. The noodles were also very tasty and a rather large portion as well.
I would definitely come back here whether it be for take out or sit down. If you're in the neighborhood, please stop in. It's definitely worth anyone's wild.
It's places like Ayada Thai and SriPraPhai that are causing me to LIKE Thai more and more and MORE.
You must try the BBQ pork appetizer (A-1). It was unbelievable. I have no words. My dad, brother, and I inhaled it. Even my mom tried a piece and she RARELY, if ever eats pork.
For soups, we shared the tom kha (chicken with coconut milk) and tom yum (with shrimp). Both delicious. Well I didn't try the tom yum because I'm allergic to seafood but my family loved it! The tom kha was sweeter than expected, and definitely sweeter than any other coconut milk based soup I've tried at other Thai restaurants. They had to have added sugar. But still good nonetheless!
For mains, we got the red snapper, pad kra praw (chicken with chili and spicy basil sauce), and Thai fried rice with vegetables.
For spice level, we requested medium for the chicken. Medium is usually good for me but damn it was spicy! In a good way though because this is real Thai food that we're eating. I don't believe in complaining about spice level or sending food back ever so there I was – eating, sweating, and chugging water. By the way, service was excellent and my water glass was never empty. They were all very kind and attentive.
Parents and brother thoroughly enjoyed the snapper, which they ordered to be spicy. It was huge and they were very happy with the flavor and spice level.
The fried rice complemented both the chicken and fish perfectly.
Now if you're still reading, please read this part carefully – I think it's important.
A reoccurring theme that I've noticed at most Thai restaurants is FAST service. Like, your food comes out very fast compared to other types of restaurants. So what we normally do is order apps/soups first, and once they come out, THEN order mains. At Ayada, our food came out the FASTEST that I've ever seen at any restaurant ever. So unless you want to be rushed and have ALL your food at once, order apps/soups first and afterwards order mains. We did this and still, mains came out while we were eating our appetizer. When this happens, you naturally rush (in my opinion) and don't get to enjoy what you're eating as much. This scenario may seem trivial but I think it makes a difference if you care about your overall dining experience.
Anyways, I recommend Ayada Thai.
Definitely up there for one of my best Thai experiences in NYC. I think that I would need to come back again before I start comparing to some of its other rival neighborhood Thai restaurants. Had the steam chicken/shrimp dumplings, larb salad (pork) and the drunken noodles (chicken) and they were all above average. I'm convinced woodside has the best Thai food hands down!
Woodside Avenue is probably the place to go for Thai food for there are several restaurant on one block. This review is for the their take out lunch.
Went for the lunch special- With Chicken was for $6.95, and Beef $7.95
You get a soup or a salad
Vegetable egg roll
Not a bad deal.
The Tom Yum Soup- Was too salty and too spicy. I had the soup sitting in the car and it stunk up the place. Sweating bullets after drinking the soup on a hot humid day.
Beef Pad Thai- was okay. I went for the noodles instead of the beef.
Also, ordered the Chicken with Cashews and Rice. Again, I went for the rice and vegetables instead of the chicken.
The food is okay for lunch, but I have had better.
The staff was friendly and helpful as they took my order once I walked in and then asked me to take a seat to wait. Was not too long they brought the bag with the lunches to me.
I don't think there's much to add that hasn't been said in previous reviews but this is hands down some of the best Thai food in the city. The crispy watercress salad is addictive and not at all a salad. Unless you regularly eat salads where the vegetables are deep fried, in which case I want to be your friend. Everything is mind blowingly spicy and I usually order medium spicy but for those of you who like to live wild, go for the Thai spicy. The waitresses are exceptional about refilling your water.
Would like to come back for the raw shrimp salad and the whole deep fried snapper. Am looking for friends to go on this food adventure with me.
I thought I finally got a chance to dine in since it was 9PM Sunday night. Wrong. Still crowded with ppl waiting fort table next door. Looked at all the Michelin and Zagat stickers, once again I ordered takeout… It's still good as last time I tried. (That Penang duck was as good as advertised) Tried papaya salad and green curry with pork this time. Awesome!
Truly appreciate that Queens has such a great neighborhood of Thai food.
I had one of the best Thai dining experiences at Ayada Thai. It's a small, cozy space and wasn't overly crowded when we arrived around 6:30pm on a weekday. Decor and service were mediocre, nothing exceptional, but THE FOOD is noteworthy! We ordered a papaya salad with dried shrimp and peanuts (mild), a pad kua gai for my other half, and a beef noodle soup for myself. I must say, the papaya salad was the best papaya salad I've ever had. I'm not crazy about extremely spicy food, but enjoy a little kick once in a while. However, many Thai restaurants have served me burning hot papaya salads, despite me asking for a mild dish. The one that Ayada Thai served me was impeccable. It had the most perfect balance of sweet, sour and spicy flavors and didn't leave a burning sensation on my tongue that hinders me from tasting anything else. I also loved my beef noodle soup – a dark, rich yet appetizing broth combined with tender beef slices and elastic noodles – just Mmmm! Can't wait to go back to try more!
