  1. Thaism is superb and has now become my new default Thai eatery, after my old favorite has lost it's ways.  It's an underrated establishment that recently scored really high on a visit for myself and a few friends. If you enjoy Thai food to any degree , you're going to enjoy Thaism…a whole lot.

A rainy Saturday night walking down Smith St. led us to Thaism. The restaurant had plenty of seating, which was pleasant. This restaurant is not a scene, nor does it try to be with the vibe they present . Granted, it does appeal greatly to my minimalist tastes with the interior design route they've chosen to go with. If you like flash and noise, this is not the place. The mural on their wall is worthy of note; real nice piece of art. To top it off, their playlist was actually an interesting blend of Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline among others, as opposed to the usual cookie-cutter generic house snares you hear ad nauseum in so many Thai restaurants around the city.

Every dish ordered was either great or exceptionally great. Some were downright awesome. Sprinkle in a few more positive adjectives to get the whole idea. The chicken wings with chili sauce and the crispy duck salad rose above the rest of the appetizers and could even be labeled as 'exceptionally awesome'. Entrees that were massive hits included the roasted pork with fried egg (careful, it's a bit on the spicy side, I found it perfect, however), masaman curry, squid pad thai and beef pad see ew.

Along with excellent prices (I remember paying these prices at my old spot in 2009-2010) , and an appealing drink menu, I think it's a matter of time before Thaism has a line out of the door.

  2. Got delivery from this place. Knowing how quality turns out when things are delivered, I avoided the noodle dishes and went for what was called the Pineapple Fried Rice Lunch Box. This lunch special came with a choice of house soup or salad, and few appetizer choices. I choose the Taro Wonton which is pretty much fried wonton with taro stuffing, which also came with sweet and sour sauce. You also are required to choose a protein which I choose chicken. For $10 plus tip, this is a pretty good deal and tastes wonderful. I will be keeping tabs on this place next time I order delivery.

  3. The drunken noodles here are so amazing!!!!!!! Whenever I get crazings for Thai food this is my go to esp for drunken noodles.
Also this place has a great lunch special.

  4. Very sweet staff, good heap beer, and the shrunken noodles were very good with lots of fresh veggies. Not the greatest Thai food nice ever had, but very good and relatively inexpensive. I'd go again.

  5. I ordered their chicken tom yum noodle soup for delivery. My food arrived fast and still piping hot. I prefer wide rice noodles, but these thin ones tasted just as good. The chicken was pretty dry, but at least there is virtually zero chance of getting salmonella from undercooked meat. The broth, though, was quite delicious: a good balance of spicy, sweet, and slightly sour without excess greasiness. Tom yummy! Really the perfect Thai broth.
