  1. Thai food in Chinatown? Count me in

Ordered take out form this establishment right before leaving NYC back to Boston thinking I wasn't going to have enough time to eat in with my friend. The food was ready upon arrival and since we had time to spare we began to eat there. The staff was very attentive and let us eat in, we unfortunately had to leave within 15 minutes. We enjoyed our meals, I had extra spicy drunken noodles, loved it!

  2. Pongsri Thai Restaurant has changed a lot since my last visit a couple years ago. The place seems more spacious, the bar has disappeared, the lighting is dimmer, the portion sizes are smaller, complimentary tea have disappeared, and the price went up a bit. Nonetheless, the food is still as yummy as usual. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao, it was delicious and very spicy. Overall I don't mind the changes after it had been temporarily closed but one thing that really noticeably caught my and my party of 5's eyes are the decrease in portion size when we were served. I would assign a 3.5 star rating.

  3. Got take out for lunch. I ordered upon arrival and waited about 10 min for the chicken Pad Thai – works for me! The lady in the front was taking orders from the phone and from walk ins so she wasn't the friendliest, not mean either. No worries because during lunch, I'm in a rush too.

Food was ordinary. My Pad Thai didn't come with tofu which caught me by surprise. Most Thai restaurants I've visited adds it. It did come with shredded lettuce on top which tasted rather refreshing.

In all, if you have an urge for Thai food, this place isn't a bad option. I will probably return but not until I try the other Thai restaurants in the neighborhood first.

    Happy dining!

  4. It's a little gem in Chinatown, I've been here a few times throughout the years, the restaurant is rather spacious located right across from the Detention Complex, so you might have a meal served with some criminals in handcuffs across the street through glass windows.

The food is overall decent, I used to work at a Thai restaurant and my boss taught me how to make the most authentic dishes, I always judge by their panang curry and if they don't serve mango sticky rice it kind of disappoints me.

So we ordered curry puffs, fried soft shell crab served with panang curry, shrimp Pad Thai and a Nam Tok (spicy beef salad). The usual. And usually you can't really go wrong with Thai food unless they just don't know how to cook, this is not bad but not good enough for me to tell all my friends to go. The price is very good, the bill was around $70.

  5. 3 1/2 Stars.  Great food and fast, friendly service!

After visiting the Statue of Liberty, my friend was in the mood for Thai, so Yelp led us here.  The location was rather interesting; it's in Chinatown, but directly across from a prison.  We were seated at a table with full view of the street and the prison, so we saw a parade of handcuffed people being led into the building by numerous uniformed and plainclothes police.  Interesting people watching, for sure.  Lots of cop cars coming and going, flashing lights and all, so you actually felt fairly safe having dinner! Not romantic, though, in case that's what you want.

I ordered the Gang Ga Ree with Shrimp, yellow curry with potatoes, onions, green beans in coconut milk. Yummy!  It was barely spicy, which is the way I like it.  The reviews of the coconut rice convinced me to order it as well and I was not disappointed.  My friend had the Chicken Cashew Nuts and also loved it.

One of the Yelp reviewers mentioned the steps leading down to the bathrooms.  Yes, the steps are steep, so be careful.  The bathrooms were clean.
Tip:  Just push open the door to the ladies room.  The door knob does not turn which makes you think it's locked, but there are 2 stalls inside.

While the ambiance is not the best, the food was very good.

  6. I love all of their curries. Let's get this straight. Every single one. As a matter of fact this restaurant (it's Chelsea location) was my introduction to Thai food. But please read my review and you will see why I'm giving it one star.

After finding out that they had this location a few blocks away from my job, I couldn't stop going here for lunch. Then, around the time restaurants were being given Grades, this place shut down. It miraculously came back and I wanted to go there but someone put up a picture of a rat here on Yelp. Can we all discuss this matter please? I mean, seriously guys. I do understand this is NYC and on top of that Chinatown but that's just insane! The rat is inside, under a table looking OUT. Is this their pet that it isn't phased by humans? So sad because I love this place but I won't be coming back because of this. Perhaps I'll go to their Midtown location instead.

  7. I've been here 4 or 5 times in the past few years and each time I am consistently pleased! The food is always good, and there's something about it that doesn't taste heavy, or like purely MSG, or like one type of cheap soy sauce (like most Chinatown restaurant foods taste like). It's actually quite fresh and authentic. The restaurant itself is clean, spacious, nicely decorated, and has an overall comfortable ambience (again, unlike most Chinatown restaurants). Just a side note: this place actually used to accept credit cards, but now is cash only.

  8. Came here the other day with my boyfriend. We were craving Thai food. I was here last year with a few others and got the pad Thai but I think I didn't like it. Well, my 2nd visit here wasn't a disappointment.

Walked in, weird slanted door. I got confused, or maybe it was just me.

We were seated, ordered quickly, chugged our waters because we were so thirsty only to have our waitress pour more into our glasses. Thanks!

I got the pad see ew with pork. It was rice noodles with veggies and eggs and soy sauce. It was surprisingly super filling and I think I should've opted for the beef instead. The Thai iced tea as always, was very good. You could never go wrong with that.

He got the pad key Mao with chicken. It was a lot more "red" because of the red pepper flakes but it wasn't as spicy as we would have liked.

All in all, the experience was good. I'll come back when I'm back in Chinatown.
