  1. I'm not the biggest fan of hibachi. It's overpriced and too hyped, in my opinion. Nevertheless, the service was good. I'm also not too keen on 'community style' seating. I like to enjoy the company of the people I'm dining with ONLY. Not a randomly forced meet & greet. That's just me! This place is decent though. I'd rather have the sushi at Benihana though.

  2. Came here and had requested not to sit at the hibachi tables. The women at the front desk obviously weren't listening too well because they still told us there was a long wait. We had to reiterate, NOT the hibachi tables a few times before we got sat at a regular table where it was completely empty in the room.

The waitress we had was very friendly and patient. She provided great service, way better than those at the front of house.

I did order a hibachi meal and it was nice because it all came out at once instead of piecemeal like at the grill. The food was delicious and what you've come to expect. It's still a bit pricey for what you get but hibachi meals are just pricey in general.

I'd definitely return though because the food was filling and yummy.

  3. I never really ventured for hibachi much until I met my husband Andrew G who LOVES hibachi. I have now been coming here for years and just love it every time!

I can't go 5 star because I don't love he feeling I have about myself after eating hibachi. That full gross feeling prevents me from the 5 star.

Love the lemon orange salad dressing! Definitely an easy choice when comparing ginger dressing to the lemon orange at Arirang. I don't usually stray but the lemon orange makes it possible.

Love the friend rice and the shrimp. Steak is always well cooked and the entertainment is fun.

The green tea ice cream has changed and although I do favor the 2011 ginger that was a little more bitter, the recent ice cream supplier is still yummy!

***HIBACHI DINNER*** A reservation SHOULDN'T be a wait list. We made a reservation for 6PM on a Saturday Night, and they told us that we still had to wait 30 minutes until we got a text message. They should make that clear on their website. But based on our overall experience, this was worth the wait!

When you walk up, you will cross over a mini glass bridge. Around you is a fine waterfall with exotic plants. After crossing that bridge, you will see a dining room for sushi and traditional entrees (hibachi can be ordered here too, but it's all cooked in the kitchen) with private tables and booths. On the right side is the bar area with additional tables and chairs for dining and drinking. On the left side is the hibachi dining area, where all of the fun is located. Speaking of which, let's begin!

We were escorted to one side of a hibachi table. Another group of people was brought to the other side of the table. Soon, a waiter came by to take our drink orders. We all ordered water. Additionally, I ordered a Island Ko Ko.

This drink contains gin, coconut juice, and cream blended with ice and served in a ceramic coconut shell glass. This tasted delicious, and not too sweet! Additionally, we were told to keep this ceramic glass at no additional cost.

After our waiter delivered our drinks, he took our food orders. He also made us wash our hands with warm, soaked towels, which was fine! A few minutes later, he came back with our clear soup. This was more like a miso soup, which wasn't bad!

Then he gave us our house salad, which consisted of a mixture of vegetables. We chose the Lemon-Orange dressing, and the taste was tangy! At the same time, our hibachi chef came. His name was Chef Santo. He greeted all of us, verified our entree orders & laid out some ingredients. Then, the fun really began.

First, he performed a unique trick with his knives & blades (Fine!). Then, he made an onion volcano with FIRE (AWESOME!!). Then, he chopped pieces of celery and made us catch them with our mouths. Only 2 were able to catch them (It hit my teeth, but then bounced out. Oh well.).

He then performed some tricks with his eggs and knives (nice!). Then he made a smiley face with the eggs (OK). Afterwards, he made fried rice, shaped like Mickey Mouse during the initial process (cool). Following that, he cooked our fresh veggies and shrimp appetizers, in which were all good.

Lastly, he cooked our entrees. I ordered a 8 oz Steak, grilled with sake, soy sauce, and garlic butter. This was delicious. My dad ordered a 8 oz grilled, seasoned pork loin, and my mom ordered a lemon sole fillet. They all enjoyed their entrees. Then the chef cleaned up, gave us his business card, smiled and left. Lastly, our waiter gave us free ice cream. I chose strawberry, which was good.

"B-DAY Treatment = ATTENTION STAR" –  If you have a b-day, they offer a $15 mini ice cream cake to share with your party. The party next to us had a b-day. 1st, the disco lights turned on. 2nd, an up-beat Japanese party tune played in the background. After that, another chef with a red LED-lighted necklace came out, grabbed the lady's wrists, and moved her arms up and down to the beat of the song while shouting "Happy Birthday" (x2) and screaming "BONSAI" multiple times. Everyone, even at the table nearby was LAUGHING and cheering at this scene. You should have seen the lady's face during this treatment. 😀 Hey, if you know someone who deserves this treatment, then use that as a surprise. 😛

Our waiter was ok, but a bit too serious. But I decided to not let that interfere with my rating. Chef Santo was excellent. Our entrees included a soup, salad, vegetables, white rice, shrimp, and ice cream, which was a super deal. Fried rice was extra, in which we avoided. Overall, a FUN experience. We'll consider coming back again!

Advisory: Due to the loud noise, you'll have to shout when placing your orders. I'm used to that. If you hate loud noise, b-day treatments going off every 10-15 minutes, & sharing tables with others, then this place is NOT for you!

  5. Came here last week for a promotion celebratory dinner with friends.  I was reluctant at first because it was a long drive from Queens, and there are hibachi places in NYC, but I was an invited guest so I went along with it.
When we arrived, we were told 45 min wait.  There were many large parties visible throughout the restaurant.  They have a lounge area off to the right when you first walk in where you can sit and order drinks and apps while you wait.  Very cute and convenient.  We were seated a little before the time frame given.  We were a party of 6, and the table was meant for 8, so we had two strangers among us.  Not too fond of that idea, but they were a cool couple.  Thank goodness!
Our chef went by the name of Jackie Chan.  He was awesome!!  He was funny, very cautious of what everyone ordered, and very cautious of food allergies.  He put on a great little show with his food prep, as most of the chefs should.  Most of us ordered from the hibachi meals.  One of our friends ordered some big wooden boat filled with all types of sushi, which looked amazing.
All in all the food was delicious, very fair priced (cheaper than other hibachi spots we've been to in Ny & NJ!), and portions big enough to take doggy bags home.  The drinks were on point as well.  I can speak for the Plum Wine Sangria.  I thought it was an interesting combo, as I'm a fan of both.  It was truly delicious.
We ended the night with a celebratory dessert with a candle on top for our friend celebrating his promotion.  A few of the chefs come together with it and make a whole lotta hoopla.  Nice touch!
I was very pleased with this place.  My reservations about the distance from home were soon forgotten.  It was well worth the drive!  I would definitely do it again if I was invited.  Otherwise, I would definitely choose Hibachi closer to home if I had the urge.

  6. Amazing…… Amazing….. Amazing……
Let me start with the decor as soon as you walk in the door… bamboos, plants, water under the stairs…. dimly lit…. really nice.

It was date night and my boo definitely delivered. The presentation was everything. We sat on a table that also had another couple and friends.

We started with cocktails called Monster which was goooooooooood and strong and the Mai Tai.

My appetizer was  the coconut shrimp it came with  a sweet and spicy sauce.

All entrees come with salad, miso soup, shrimp app, white rice.

We ordered steak and lobster & Steak and shrimp  with a side of fried rice….  All dishes cooked in front of us with an animated chef by the name of Sonbano… oh he was the best…. we laughed and laughed and laughed.

Lastly if it is your birthday the disco lights come on with a littes cake with clapping with so much joy that every one follows along with the chanting with an applaud.

Overall i had a great time. My tummy was full and left over to go home… what else do you need… hip hip hooray!

  7. This place is good for the show but it when comes to the food – hmmm – I don't know I expected more.

The night started by the hostess sitting 8 of us 10 minutes late- A Friday night.
We had different people taking orders for drinks, apps, and dinner. – I'm ok with that.
I ordered shrimp and steak with my choice of white rice and veggies. House salad and miso soup was complimentary. Within ten minutes after the waiter took my order, I heard " WOOT-WOoT!!" And disco lights going off! And I knew it was bday celebration at another table ( same reason we were here). And then I heard it again every 15 min or so. So…. As I was eating I kept saying " WooT- WOOT"!

Anyways to the real important stuff…the food!

House salad :  lemon – orange dressing on iceberg lettuce -could use a little more of a kick. Expected, greens with fresh veggies – not iceberg lettuce

Miso soup: miso soup is miso soup – so simple- can't go wrong- my opinion

Steak : ordered medium but received well done- maybe because it was chopped in cubes. 🙁

Shrimp : it was ok- butter, pepper, soy sauce

Veggies : zucchini ,onions ,carrots , mushrooms and bean sprouts –
Cooked well but over sauced- Making it too salty for my palette.

White rice:  steamed, healthy , done well.

As I mentioned earlier if it wasn't for Chef  Santos performing a good show with inappropriate jokes , this place would have received two stars.

Because this was my first hibachi experience I do not plan on coming back here. I would rather try other new places…On To the Next experience.

  8. REALLY disappointed with our visit. We have been here many times before but have never experienced the poor service we had this time.

Being New Year's Day we knew we may be in for a crowded night so we didn't even attempt one of the hibachi tables. Instead we looked for a table near the sushi bar. That area was full so we settled for the tables near the full bar.  No big deal to us.

We had to ask for menus. Then we ordered two glasses of wine. When the waiter/bartender brought us the drinks, he hadn't even placed them on our table and I was able to notice how filthy the glasses were. I'm not talking water spots. I'm talking sticky/smudged fingerprints on the glass. Upon closer inspection the stems and base of the glass were sticky to the touch. We told him they were gross and he took them to "replace" them. Now, he must be crazy bc he brought back the same glasses with only the globes cleaned because the stems and base were still the same sticky mess. We didn't drink it at all. My husband got a coke and I got a water WHICH HAD CRAP FLOATING IN IT. I gave up after that.

Also, the table was disgusting. It was never wiped down from the guests before us I guess bc it was sticky and had visibly dried sauce on the table.

The food was ok but the quality is going down. The ginger salad didn't taste fresh and we so happened to get all the white part of the iceberg lettuce. Meh. When we received our meals, the plates were a mess. It looked like whoever prepared them tossed the food on the plate without looking. There was sauce all down the sides of the plate, resulting in a sticky mess.

Our theme of the night seems to be repeating, don't ya think??

We were really disappointed especially bc this place is NOT cheap. Really gross way to maintain a restaurant. Step it up!
