  1. I found my new favorite Thai restaurant!! Came here with a groupon $30 worth of food for $15. My boyfriend and I ordered summer rolls that came with peanut sauce. It was so good! Something about this sauce made the summer rolls more delicious. I ordered drunken noodles since majority of the reviews here rave about it. Let me tell you, I can see why people cannot stop yelping about the drunken noodles. It was soo good!! My boyfriend got sweet and sour chicken which came with rice. That was really good too.
We were there on a Wednesday night and it was not crowded at all. Our waiter was attentive and nice. The place was clean. It had a romantic atmosphere to it. Definitely a good place for date night. I am hesitant to give this place a 5. Cause I'm not sure if we were just super hungry which is why we found everything to be delicious, but my bf and I plan to go back soon. Update review to follow.

  2. Decent and inexpensive Americanized Thai restaurant in the West Village.

The place does not have any authentic Thai décor, its long and narrow design makes the place conducive and homey. Guests can also help themselves to any table.

The waiter is friendly and attentive with genuine Thai hospitality.

The Tom Yum and the Tom Kha Gai soup are both very delicious and a great starter for a lovely dinner. The papaya salad with shrimps is simply delectable.

Our favorite whole deep fried snapper with spicy chili sauce with thai fried rice on the side never failed to impress us.  We always have it with a bottle of Singha beer to wash down the spiciness of the dish.

This unpretentious Thai restaurant will always be my favorite in the West Village whenever I crave for a fresh fried snapper and when I am in the mood for a more casual and relaxed Thai dining experience.

  3. If I didn't have a Groupon voucher for this place, I wouldn't have even known about its existence.  That's how forgettable it was, from the store front to the food.  But ergo…

Our waiter was really something else.  He was wearing these huge Buddy Holly (probably nonprescription) glasses and he had this robotic personality going on where you had to gauge his reactions for a few seconds after you said something for it to sink in.  It was almost like he was disgusted with your presence.

The summer shrimp roll was basically three pieces of shrimp shoved into mounds of lettuce and wrapped.  Geez.  I thought I was eating a huge salad against my will.  And the sauce they provided was just sad.

Drunk Man's Noodle was a disappointment.  Insufferably greasy, and I don't do well with that kind of food.  I just ate it all at that point because I was starving and I don't like to waste food.

At least we had prime seating?

  4. I consistently come here for the Beef Lard Nar which is stir-fried, soft, fresh, flat, broad, chow fun rice noodles with Chinese broccoli, American broccoli, egg and brown gravy. It's my favorite dish at Potjanee.

My BF and I been here way over 15 times and he just watches me order the same dish again and again. He doesn't mind though because he thinks Potjanee makes the best Lard Nar in NYC. We've tried it all over the city, even in Thai-town and no other restaurant comes close to being as good at making Lard Nar as Potjanee. Potjanee has the right proportion between gravy, noodles, vegetable and protein. Crazy part is how many restaurants can't get the proportions right. A lot of places just have way too much gravy vs noodles. At Potjanee, the Lard Nar  is literally perfect. Of course, there would be people who frowns upon Potjanee using American broccoli in the Lard Nar but this dish at Potjanee has both the Chinese and American broccoli which actually works in the dish, for me.

I would totally come back, and order the Lard Nar for the billionth time.

  5. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken ($11) for takeout. It was a good portion and it was impeccably seasoned and prepared. They made it pretty quickly, too. The only drawback is that they were super scant with the vegetables. But for the price/taste, I'll still probably be back.
Also might be worth noting that it was super quiet (only one table had diners) when I went in to pick up my food, around 7:30 on a Sunday.

  6. Lunch special–seriously. DO IT. The amount of food you will get is ridiculous. I ordered a Vegetable Pad Thai lunch special with Tom Yum soup and it came with like salad and another container of clear watery liquid (which I had to give away). I was seriously done after the Pad Thai because the portion of the noodles itself is as if you've ordered a regular entree–all this for under $10!

I ordered extra tofu in my order and the small pieces of the fried tofu were delicious–they tasted like they came straight from the fryer in the street food markets in Thailand and were still crispy, even after 15 minutes sealed in a container. The Pad Thai was a bit more on the sour side (I'm guessing too much tamarind), but it left me so bloated afterwards. I don't know if they forgot the peanuts since crushed peanuts are essential in a Pad Thai dish, but that was the only thing that bothered me.

I ordered my food on Seamless and also ordered a Ginger Green Tea along with my meal. A few blocks in after picking up my food, I realized they didn't pack my drink. They refunded me promptly and were professional about it, even when I offered to go back and grab it.

  7. You can do delivery or pickup at this place – was a cute scene inside but also hearty portion of you're taking home. The food was fresh and tasty – definitely a good choice of you are looking for standard thai cuisine.

  8. Your typical Thai restaurant – they had roti canai, which I loved!  Their curry dipping sauce is better than the one at Nyonya.  I ordered the Drunken Noodles with Chicken – loved the amount of spice in this dish, but I like my dishes super spicy so I added some siracha to it.  Good service here, I might be back if I'm in the area and craving Thai food.
