Little Thai Kitchen

“The place is really small, but I've only gotten delivery (which is quick) or take out (it's always ready in 5 minutes).”

“The drunken noodles were mouth watering and the container was packed to the brim and they were not cheap on the chicken at all!”

“Tip: the coconut sticky mango rice tastes like it was made by my grandma (if she knew how to cook like a Thai Goddess).”

  1. OK OK Little Thai was not someplace I had yelped because I was exploring the area and willing to just pop into whatever I found appealing.

This restaurant is tucked away in a financial center so I feel like you have to be in the area to know of its existence. I walked in during lunch time and the space was extremely small, but, I was able to find a table. I ordered the lunch special which included the steamed veggie dumplings and the thai friend rice. The portions were generous and more importantly felt "clean". It's definitely not one of those greasy joints, which if is your thing then my reviews won't do you any good.

I pretty much ate my entire meal with no shame and even managed to snoop in on some interesting discussions….business related. I was too busy being engrossed by the diamond ring of the girl sitting next to me to notice what others had ordered. I'm sure it is moderate overall!

  2. Ordered for delivery (I think through a service, but not sure). Was very impressed. All we  got was the chicken pad thai, however I found the dish to be far more flavorful then other thai options in the area. Additionally, the chicken was more moist and tender than you usually experience in pad thai.

Love ordering a side of peanut sauce to mix in – theirs was particularly good as well.

  3. Little Thai Kitchen (LTK)is a tiny restaurant that delivers mouthwatering Thai food in midtown East.  They have good lunch set deal, for $11, you get to choose an appertizer and an entree.  I like their drunken noodles with chicken.  They also have salmon teriyaki (I guess if you don't want curry or spicy food) as an entree and it's grilled salmon (so it takes time to make).  The food tends to be a little too spicy if you don't normally eat spicy food, so please specify that you want it mild if you don't want steams coming out of your ears.  Service at this restaurant is really good, but if you came as a big group, you may have to wait for a table during lunch (as they only have less than 10 tables).

  4. Little Thai Kitchen: Tiny space, expansive menu. 3.5 stars.

My co-worker suggested Little Thai Kitchen for dinner after a group of us left happy hour at a nearby bar. The first thought I had when I stepped into this restaurant was, "Wow. This place is TINY". The entire restaurant was basically a row of 5 tables for 4 and the kitchen itself. Thankfully there were no other customers when we arrived, so we were able to immediately put together two tables for our group of 6.

Although the place is small, the menu is extensive and covers pretty much all of your Thai basics and then some. Most of my co-workers are vegetarians and found plenty of veggie options to choose from. I ordered the chicken green curry. Wasn't particularly blown away by it, but thought it was a solid dish. I'm a bit sad I didn't try the coconut sticky mango rice though (it's apparently amazing!).

Little Thai Kitchen would make an awesome date spot: tiny, cozy, and intimate. In fact, there were mainly couples who ended up filling the remainder of the tables throughout the night. Would definitely not recommend coming in parties of over 4 people. We definitely lucked out this time.

  5. I had a delicious dinner here with friends the other night! Their menu is extensive. I almost tried something new, but I ended up ordering the seafood Drunken Noodles, which is my go to Thai dish. It was amazing and was packed with shrimp, squid, and delicious veggies. The portions are generous, so I also went home with leftovers. One of my friends ordered the green curry and asked for it spicy. They did not disappoint…it was almost at the level of burn-the-mouth spicy, so make sure you can handle it. I forget what my other friend ordered, but whatever it was, she was very pleased with how it tasted.

It's also BYOB, which is a rare find in New York! Make sure you come prepared! The place itself is super tiny, so if it's packed you may have to wait a little for a table, but we didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes.

  6. Brought my colleagues here for a quick Friday lunch and discovered that they had pretty good lunch set – priced at 11 dollars, you get a small app plus an entree.

Popular dishes are drunken noodles and basil chicken. My chicken was very juicy and tender. Drunken noodles seem flavorful to me as well.

Place was extremely small, so don't expect to be seated unless you could come in before the crowd (1130). They also do to-go orders.

  7. I had the chicken pad Thai take out and it was delicious ! A little pricey as it came out to $11.98 but it's Manhattan . You pay extra for adding meat to the vegetable pad Thai . The place is small so maybe it can get crowded but like I said I had takeout . I would probably come back to try their other dishes .

  8. Right off the bat you may notice it's a very cramped space and there is a bit of a lunch crowd coming in, but Little Thai Kitchen does have some redeeming qualities. The lunch specials are convenient, with your choice of an appetizer and a main dish (all for about $10, not bad!). Upon walking up to the cashier, the young lady greeted me in Thai "sawadee-ka!" – very nostalgic moment to my time in Thailand… But I digress, off to the food!

I ordered probably the two most American Thai dishes out there, namely papaya salad and pad thai. One big negative (especially with NYC weather getting colder this time of the year) is that you have to queue outside of the door when waiting for your food, there's barely enough space inside for people to order. Luckily it only took 5 minutes and there it was.

    Papaya Salad
Not traditional Thai-style and quite mild on the spice meter, but still tasty overall! The addition of lettuce is a bit strange and waters down everything, but a decent papaya salad.

    Chicken Pad Thai
Huge chicken pieces! Normally I would expect it in bite-size dice, but this was a nice surprise. Large helping of noodles too, but the flavors aren't out-of-this-world – which is understandable since the food here is catered to the more Americanized palette. Give this place a try!
