I've walked by Round K a million times thinking it was a tiny cafe with only bar seating but I was wrong. I came in today after reading many positive Yelp reviews and I am in love with this place. Behind the curtains are many sets of small tables and chairs with dim lighting and soft lighting, giving off a very cozy feel. I would love to sit here and read all day.
Between my mom and I, we ordered a cappuccino, jasmine oolong tea, avocado and egg croissant, and tomato mozzarella crossiant. My cappuccino took over 20 minutes to arrive, with my croissants arriving at 50+ minutes. Except for the cappuccino, the rest of the food should be relatively quick to make. The croissants were also hardly warm and very average tasting, and overall a disappointment. If I were in a rush, I definitely would've been very upset to have to wait this long.
I am looking forward to returning to Round K to have their capouccino again (there was so much foam!!!) and to read, but not to have food again.
Very interesting cafe — I was blown away by the seating area of the place, so cozy and comfy. Definitely a great place to meet a good friend for hours of talking over tea!

I ordered a Croissant, Brie and egg sandwich and some ginger tea. The Croissant was huge and very buttery , the egg was creamy (sogged up the croissant a bit) and flavored with pepper. It was a very satisfying meal , just wish their was a bit more brie and flavor in general.
The ginger tea was good but nothing out of the ordinary. It was served in an adorable tea cup. My meal also came with a small bowl of yogurt with marmalade and blueberries — a great surprise!
In all, really cool vibe and such a tranquil setting area. Will definitely coming back for the coffee and some of the other sweets /breakfast options — especially the Korean breakfast!
Round K is located right off the corner of Allen and Delancy in the LES (Lower East Side, for non-locals). Came here the day of a parade in Chinatown, honoring the Lunar New Year. It's a reasonable distance away from the crowds on Canal St and nicely tucked in the southern tip of the LES neighborhood.
Staff were welcoming and friendly from the moment I walked in from the arctic cold on V-Day 2016. Really appreciated that they sectioned off the front of the shop with curtains to retain heat in the seating area in the back. Relaxed lounge-style with exposed brick walls and jazzy soft music. Interesting selection of breakfast/brunch/snack foods ranging from pastries to egg platters and yogurt or bagels. One setback is that it's CASH ONLY.
Nice presentation of food and coffee drinks – bamboo basket and porcelain cup and saucer. I ordered a regular coffee with a splash of cream/half and half and a pumpernickel bagel with housemade scallion cream cheese. The coffee wasn't the best especially since I wasn't expecting to get an Americano when a ordered a regular coffee (i.e. drip/filter). The bagel was warmed but made the cream cheese slide all over the place. They provide free iced water with metal milkshake cups (keeps it cold, nice touch) but the container the water is in has an extremely slow tap. However, my friend got a muffin – warmed w/o asking 😉 – and a latte that came with a cute design. Overall, atmosphere, location and service were reasons to try this place.
NOTE: They do serve pour over coffee for a little more $$ but if that's what you want ask for it. Otherwise if you ask for a regular coffee the way you like it, they will serve you an Americano.
Great little cafe-there's such a cool vibe here.
I was a little intimated by the menu at first-why is it so short and what do they mean by "espresso scrambled eggs"? I went for the scrambled egg and Brie sandwich on croissant and was not disappointed. What it lacked in flavor (because it didn't exactly pop) it more than made up for in freshness and savory buttery goodness. Each bite melted in my mouth in the best way possible : )
Comes with a coffee so I paid 1.50 more for an iced coffee and it was so worth the extra charge-best iced coffee I've had in this neighborhood! Not sure if it was cold brew but it sure tasted like it! All this ended up costing $8.50 which I thought was a great deal.
Everything here takes a little while because it's all made to order by the same dude who takes your order and made in front of you. I know I already mentioned how fresh all this tasted but I'm a fresh fanatic and really appreciated that!
Will definitely dine in when I can.
Such a hidden gem in this area, and they don't even have table service so you have to go to the front counter and order by yourself. It is also a cash only place. But apparently nothing stopped me from having a bite here!
Good bargain came with the set menu. The espresso scrambled egg, avocado with bagel, a small yogurt and espresso/tea came around 10 bucks! You also got to choose the type of bagel (multigrain for me!) and coffee flavor. Unfortunately they ran out of artichoke root tea so I settled myself with the herb tea. Everything was simple, hearty, and…small.
Definitely good for some groups, especially girls hanging out together. They do take reservations. Raindrop cake lovers, another place where you could get that fancy cake.
A friend and I happened to stumble in here after visiting the Tenement Museum. Round K is such a lovely spot! They have a curtain sort of separating their front ordering station and the back area, but rest assured there is a decent amount of seating behind the divide! A good amount of drink and snack options… I got a latte and a yogurt parfait, and both were very aesthetically pleasing (which I normally don't care much about, but was such a charming touch) and delicious. The gentleman working the front were very friendly. The space was clean and beautifully decorated, and the prices were not tooo bad. If I am in the neighborhood again, I will definitely return.
– cash only
– avoid yu-jah tea. . . tastes like potpourri
– came for the raindrop cake. . . no line, no need to go to brooklyn, sold.
– personable staff
Round K is very different from most coffee shops. The atmosphere is much more relaxed and conversations are encouraged. If you are looking for a quiet place to do work, this is probably not the best for you.
When you first walk in, it appears to be a small shop. Beyond the curtains you'll see the main seating area. Order your drinks at the counter and they'll bring it to your table. I had the the chrysanthemum tea and really enjoyed it. The tea set was very cute.
My main complaints would be the noise level. I can work with noise but there was a group that was exceptionally loud, even louder than my headphones could try to cover up. The table is also a little low, I started getting a shoulder cramp because of how awkward I was crouched for a while.
I would definitely come back. It's a great spot to catch up with a friend. The staff was super friendly and the bathroom was amazingly clean.
