quick, clean, efficient, reasonable pricing, good portion, wide variety, modern. This place sure stands out compared to its neighbors. Glad it opened, brings new options for the worker bees.
Excellent food for the price. Got chicken gyro- very balanced with all food groups! Friendly staff, not the most aesthetic but I got it to go. Just keep an eye on your car because Newark street parking.
Using the remaining minutes of my lunch break, I feel compelled to review Turkish Pita Place because I had such a good experience today. I randomly decided to go to Downtown Newark for lunch and stop in here. I'm really glad I found this place!
Going out to lunch during the work week can be difficult when you are pressed for time. When you feel rushed and you have to scarf down your food in order to get back and punch-in on time, it sometimes is not worth leaving the office.
But I thought the service here was fast and the staff were very efficient and friendly. The spot is set up so you clearly can tell where to order and where to pick up. It can be aggravating going to places where you and other customers just stand there, wondering, "Uh, so how do we do this?" (Believe me, there are establishments like this downtown).
This place has good amount of seating and, when you dine in, the staff bring your order to you on these huge trays. Real plates and silverware. Plus, a selection of Turkish goods are on display for sale (you know, like cookies or sweets to bring back to your desk – just saying). It's a nice little lunch spot.
I got the chicken gyro platter, which came with red and white rice, salad, a piece of pita, and a cup of rice pudding with cinnamon. For $7.50 ($7.95 with tax), it's a great deal and a tasty and filling lunch. I will definitely come back again!
I reviewed this place previously before it was Turkish food and was mostly Arab food. It was good then — it is EXCELLENT now. Friendly family-owned establishment that is FRESH, healthy, extremely tasty and has WIDE variety for very good price points… Their buffets have at lest 15 items to choose from for those curious to try new things…. I have tried ALL and each is as tast as the next- it's just what you're feeling up to that day…
I am ALWAYS a fan of their lentil soup.
The young man behind the counter is very nice, and remembers customers from what they regularly order.
It's also a cute look, (modern and orange) with at lesat 3 desserts freshly baked for your sweet tooth, turkish tea for those rainy days, and some turkish music in the background for a nice touch in the middle of Newark.
