My family and friends love it here. They always give us a cute plastic colored bowl for my daughter to eat with and a cup of water in a to go cup with a straw. Love the decor and the service. We've been here when it was prime dinner time and before the rush and at both times the service was great.
The food is always on point as well. The that iced tea though is a bit too creamy and sweet. Parking sometimes can be hard.
My review is regarding a pick-up order.
I ordered the massaman curry with tofu, chicken curry puff and thai iced tea. The curry had a decent amount of tofu and some potato bits and that was it. I did not see any peanuts or onions and shallots. The curry was good but it lacked in ingredients. I'll give it another try next time…
Delicious Thai cuisine located in the heart of Bayside. Now I know why Anna H. And Andrea G. Sing the praises of Thanya. When you first walk in you will appreciate the modern interior appointments, from the wooden floors and wall paneling, bell and fish shaped decorations adorn the walls.
The menu has a nice variety of Thai treats. We ordered the following:
* Papaya Salad – Salty, sweet and spicy! The salad was packed with some pretty herbacious flavors and crunchy fresh!
* Chicken wings – order came with 5 wings. The wings were not tiny in size and were delicious.
* Tom Yum soup with shrimp – I enjoyed the soup and the fragrant flavors of the lemon grass, lime and other spices but felt the soup could have been a bit more hearty, it was a little on the thin side for my taste.
* Thai basil fried rice with pork – This was a Winner, Winner thai fried rice dinner! Moist, delicious and yummy.
* Fried bananas with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert – The bananas were wrapped and fried in a very light crispy dough which was perfect with the added whip cream.
Overall service was OK. Our waitress was very nice and I can tell she is still learning the ropes. They need to get her more help since she was taking care of the customers and fulfilling phone and online orders.
A definite legit restaurant to get your Thai fix in the Bayside area. On the downside no private parking lot. If you want to skip paying the parking meters, go after 7pm since the meters are not effective after that time.
We were going to a different Thai place but it was closed so we looked for the closest thai restaurant nearby. This one happened to have 4 stars so we thought we'd give it a try and boy were we glad that we did. Parking was not terrible… there is plenty of residential parking within 1-2 blocks. When we got here the place was empty which was fine with us. We had a party of 5 and the booth seats all had comfy pillows which was definitely a plus.
We ordered a few appetizers, beef stew, and a few different curries. Three in our group ordered extra chicken and you could definitely tell there was a lot of chicken. The beef stew was legit beef. Some places give you a lot of fat but this place gave you the perfect portion. They did not hold back! The curry puffs were delicious and the Tom Yum soup was delicious too! Everything was amazingly good and the waitresses were all really nice. The only one con I would say is that the amount of soup they give for a "large Tom Yum" is not really large or worth $12. However, it is exactly enough for 5-6 people having a little tasting of it. Also, they didn't have any real desserts like ice cream. They had some mango rice or something for dessert which did not seem appealing. I'm not taking off a star for this only because everything else was perfect and made up for it!
I will definitely return here!
Came here to check out the hype and finally cross it off my to try list. What a let down. Food is certifiably a greasy chinese food restaurant. I'm giving it 2 stars because you can bring your own liquor and it's got nice decor. But food wise, there's 3 other thai places in the area that I'd much rather go to before I'd come back here. And for the price for the portion, it is steep.
We tried the Thai spring rolls which were like egg rolls and barely filled with ingredients. The vegetarian curry puffs were prob the best thing we had. But the side sauces for both were really lacking. And not to mention the wilting lettuce as a garnish. Blegh.
We had the cashew nut which was very salty and the sweet and sour chicken. The sweet and sour chicken was lacking in flavor, and ingredients. I think I saw 3 pieces of pineapple?
Overall I dont plan on returning and would not recommend this place. There's better thai places a few miles away with better prices.
I have to say that Thanya's delivery service is FAST. Props to that. Now the food. We got the lunch specials: Drunken noodle chicken, pad Thai beef (oh btw they do not tell you that beef and shrimp is extra so be warned…they made it sound like the meat is all the same price), pad see ew shrimp, spicy basil fried rice chicken, and pineapple fried rice beef. All the lunch specials came with either dumplings, crispy spring rolls, soup, or salad. We got the dumplings, spring rolls, and salad. I've gotta say that the food is pretty good! One thing I don't understand is the usage of big slices of tomatoes in their food…why…? The pad Thai tasted a lot like ketchup….why…? Another thing is their food must be PACKED, and I mean PACKED with msg. My friend and I were sooooo sleepy afterwards, and my mouth was never satisfied with the amount of water I drank (and mind you I drank a lot of water).
Overall, 1) good delivery service 2) be careful of their pricing 3) okay food but tomatoes…? Ketchup…? And 4) M. S. G.
Our lovely Anna H. bought my companion and I here after an event! Great place for a quick lunch break. Decor is very relaxing and chill. It was fairly quiet during late lunch hours on a Saturday.
We had the Drunken Noodles with Chicken, Jungle Curry with Pork, and the Thai Basil Fried Rice. Let's not forget that refreshing Thai Iced Tea as well! I enjoyed the sweet, savory, and spicy flavors of the Drunken Noodles. Its nice pan fried noodles gave it a nice charred taste. Jungle Curry had so much fresh vegetables including green peppers and bamboo shoots and went well with the pyramid rice that it came with. Basil Fried Rice, I had a taste of this and I loved how spicy packed it was! I will definitely order this next time.
What a pleasant find in a food desert!
The food was okay not great – it's pretty greasy and it's pricey for the quality. Really liked the Thai Iced Tea though and you can bring your own liquor, which is nice. I probably wouldn't come back unless I was craving Thai. (Not sure if there are other Thai places nearby.)
