  1. It's my go to for Viet, it's dirty, dingy and the food is great, go figure. lol The restaurant has very little in way of decor but the restaurant is on the larger end, so seating is usually easy and the prices are super cheap.

    The food:

Tai Nam Gau Gan Sach- combination rice noodles beef soup with fresh eye of round, brisket, tendon and omosa. I think the broth is great, the noodles are cooked right and the meats are all cooked well. This is still my go to Pho spot. Also, it's pretty cool how lightning fast this dish comes out.

Banh Mi- I love their Viet sandwich, for me, it's the hands down winner for Banh Mi in such a weird place since they din't even advertise it. The bread is great, it's nice and crunchy, the meats have good flavor and good texture but their pate is fanfuckingtastic. And then to tie everything together, their pickled veg is a perfect complement. I really like their sandwiches a lot. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Cha Gio vietnamese crispy spring rolls – deep fried rolls wrapped in rice paper with a mixture of pork, chicken, crabmeat, black mushrooms and clear rice noodles. Really good flavor, it's more greasy than what I would have liked but their platter of veg evens everything out. lol

Banh Cuon steamed salad crepe – ground pork & black mushrooms, wrapped in crepe of rice flour, served with Vietnamese ham & cooked bean sprouts. Nobody I know as ever tried this dish but it's my favorite appetizer here. It's kinda like a clear rice roll folded with ground pork and mushrooms that you dip into their sauce. The Viet ham and their dried garlic really good well with the crepe. It's so pedestrian but I love this dish. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Com Ga Nuong grilled chicken on rice – marinated grilled chicken served on rice with slices of tomatoes and cucumbers. It's a safe dish but their grilled chicken is bursting with flavor. Chicken usually bores the pants off of me but their chicken dish is so nicely flavored.

  2. ———– Cash ONLY!!

In my 8 years living here in New York… This place had the best pho I have ever had!  Nothing else compared to the West Coast.

My friends and I came here and order two of the number 2, Bun Cha Gio and an order of 8 piece spring rolls.  Everything was delicious!  The spring rolls were extra crispy.  Everything came out rather quickly.

They had a good amount of seating but it's not a huge place.  It's bigger than expected though.  The restroom was pretty clean when I was there.  The staff was busy, busy, busy!

The only issue I had was that we finished eating right at the beginning of the lunch rush it seemed like.  They wanted us to get up as quickly as possible but they didn't write down the price so there was a mix up.  Again, it's cash only!  It was kinda hard getting the attention of the wait staff even though they were standing near you.

We will definitely come back here.  Don't bother bringing your car though!  Take the train, bus or just walk if you live nearby.

  3. I had better Vietnamese food in Chinatown in Manhattan, NY. The food that this place offers is OK compared to their counterparts. In terms of the flavor and quality, they are ok as well. Service seems ok as well. If you are ok for ok food, then this is an ok place to come for Vietnamese food.

  4. One of the best pho places in queens! This place is located in the heart of busy flushing but parking is not so hard. I came here on Saturday and i was able to park right outside the restaurant.
It was packed but we got seated right away. My friend and i ordered two beef pho (large and medium) and summer roll. Summer roll came out right away and it was full of shrimp and chicken! Also it comes with sweet peanut sauce. Very yum!
Pho was really good too! They don't go cheap with bean sprouts and beef inside the soup(yay) I liked how clean it tasted compared to other pho places. It wasn't flavored too strong and the portion was huuuge. I ordered large pho but damn i had hard time finishing this.
The total for 3 came out to be $20 which is dirty cheap (hallelujah) I'll be definitely coming back for hangover doctor to cure

  5. Came on a weekday afternoon and the place was packed. Food was good and service was quick. Had the pork chop and rice which was great. The pho looked amazing but didn't get to try it this time around. Ill be back soon!

  6. I'm writing this review right after I finished my food and while I wait for my dad to finish his. This place looks bad on the outside and and inside, I know, I didn't think a restaurant could be ugly inside and out, but here you have it. But to top that, this place is completely nasty and just not clean at all. I was hesitant at the door but I saw the "A" on the outside. I don't understand how they can get an A.

Floor is dirty and where I'm sitting (table all the way in the back right before the corridor), there's a mopping bucket (don't remember what it's called) right by us. It looks bad already, now I have to deal with the bad smell as well. Front row seats to see their cleaning equips.

I ordered a number 6 (some raw and some cooked beef with the vermicelli and soup. My dad ordered the grilled chicken with vermicelli and soup. I told them I wanted my bean sprouts cooked or at least heated up (because cooked means they just microwave it). When my food came, it didn't look appetizing and the bean sprouts were not hot and crunchy, the raw kind of crunchy. It still had the raw taste to it. A lot of the beef came with the strands and strings of chewy (un-chewable and inedible) unknowns. And it wasn't much meat as well. Please refer to photos.

I had to look so long for clean chopsticks and spoons. The chopsticks were ok but where it came from didn't look so clean itself. The spoons were completely disgusting. I had to look for on the second layer in the middle. All the spoons on the top weren't just old looking but it had stains (obvious food stains that can be cleaned if it was washed).

The longer I sit, the more itchy and grossed out I felt. Maybe it's just a psychological thing but if it's something I feel after I see something gross, then everything here might be the problem. The price for this number 6 is the same as a number one in Chinatown and near where I live, so not only is it more expensive but tasted no where near what average should be.

I wouldn't even go here if I was really hungry and craving Vietnamese, but now craving not satisfied and I have a place I will never go back again.

  7. Phobang is average at best to me. This is one of those restaurants that have a tray of utensils on each table and upon ordering, you grab whatever you need. This is also one of those restaurants that my mom would make me thoroughly wipe down each utensil with tea before using. Sure enough, of the 3 spoons I picked up, 2 were stained.

The beef broth is on point but the noodles are too clumped together. The rest of the beef/parts are average.

I would return for my quick fix of Pho when I'm in the area but this place doesn't really hit the spot for me.

  8. This restaurant has been one of my staples since 5th grade. I can recall the frequent times I've asked my parents to take me here for our family dinners. To this day, Phobang is still the only place I will get Pho from. However, their spring rolls and pork over rice are top notch too. You can literally pour their bowl of fish sauce that the latter two dishes come with over anything because it's that good.

#11 without cilantro and scallions. That's my go to; I honestly never betray that Pho bowl. It's now all my friends order too!
