“Had the Lad Nah which was very flavorful, and I preferred Sabay's Lad Nah to Spicy Shallot's.
Servers were friendly and accommodating even with a language barrier.”
“1 block from the 74th / Roosevelt Avenue subway, the Times Square of Queens.”
“My no # 1 thai place in queens wayyy better than spicy shallot which is overrated for no reason”

I ordered a chicken green curry lunch special and sure it was really cheap but it really wasn't much at all. It came with a small saucer of salad. I felt hungry 2 hours later, even with the soda that I was heavily pressured into ordering. I tried the same dish at Spicy Shallot and it felt much more satisfying…and it had bigger chunks of things in its creamier curry.
I did like the flower they made out of the straw wrapper though..that was more amusing for me than it should've been.
Food: Awesome original Thai cuisine that you can't find no wrong with. Everything from the Pad Thai, curry puffs, to the drunken noodles are delicious. Great spot for lunch.
Brew: You can't go wrong with the traditional Thai beer they have, Chang or Singha. I love them both equally for being a light and clean tasting golden pale lager. Perfect for cooling you down after eating spicy Thai food. I'll like to add a sub note for Chang beer. There are two versions of this beer, In the states you'll find it brewed and exported with malt and opposed to drinking it local in Thailand it will be brewed with rice like many other Asian beers.
I love their chicken noodle in hot broth. It is addictive. I hesitated at first, because I didn't see any waitresses. You may have a short wait as one or two ladies working there to notice you. The food here are flavorful and are available in great portions. I notice that the workers are happy to help. I really liked the art hanging in this restaurant. It would remind you of Salvador Dali's work. Very relaxing indeed. Did I mention fancy origami art on the other side wall? Hey, and if that is not awesome, there are Thai music videos playing in the background.
I must say that I enjoyed this meal. While it may not be my favorite Thai meal, it was most reminiscent of the food I ate in Thailand. I was alone, so didn't try many dishes. I had Papaya Salad with grilled chicken ( more roasted than grilled, actually). The salad was on point as was the chicken. But the real kicker was the bill….edamame, the above dish, tax and tip…$15!
I definitely had better experience!
I stopped by this Thai restaurant because in was near the main bus depot.
The place is not on the main area, Woodside Ave, where many of the other Thai restaurants are.
I ordered the Chicken Rama Platter for $7.50. The price is great and the plating look attractive but the food was disappointing.
My chicken tasted over cooked, hard and not fresh; like it was pre-cooked and reheated. The favorite is ok but nothing to get excited about. It was served on a huge flat round plate; ready unnecessary and hires the fact that the portion size is small. You do get a bowl of rice. Rated 2/5.
Service was fine, the place is clean and attractive but the Thai food is poorly executed.
There are many other Thai restaurants nearby that makes better.
Lad Nah was skimpy. There was so little broad rice noodles in the Lad Nah that I had to dig through the gravy to find it. The Lad Nah was served on a huge plate but there was about 3 cups of gravy and the noodles was smaller than my palm and the height was single layer of rice noodle. There was only a few bites of noodle…tiny bites at that. The beef was way overcooked too. It was not the worse but second worse is pretty bad. My boyfriend could not believe his eyes with the portion of the Lad Nah. I had to fish in the huge amount of gravy to find the noodles for him to prove it's a noodle dish! It looked like a soup to him!
His Chicken Rama Platter was on a huge plate too but the chicken breast was way overcooked again. He had a hard time swallowing the meat. After we finished, he mumbled about how he's never going back there again. I concur.
The only thing good there was the Thai Iced Tea but I asked for just a little bit of ice and of course, she didn't listen to me. it's middle of winter and I'm cold, just a little bit of ice will do….but not successful in understand me!!
It's basically an A sauce with B protein restaurant. Food is OK but not really flavorful or authentic. Good thing is they have a lot of vegan choices, and cozy atmosphere.
I came here because well…
I was trying to find cheap eats.
My mistake was not knowing how much I normally eat which is quite a bit…so cheap eats is a relative term when it comes to me.
However, this place wasn't that far from Thai Son which I am a fan of so either way it was a WIN-WIN.
Small place that can seat around 20 people.
When I came in it was empty during lunch because I obviously came in for the lunch special.
The place is clean for the most part but I didn't give it a complete glance over.
The waitress didn't understand English as well as I thought she would have but orders were made correctly and she was both cordial/friendly.
Attentive too but then again I was the only patron left after the other guy that was here before me exited during my meal.
B on their Health Code is iffy for me but it sure as hell beats C on a lot of the Chinese food places in NYC that I roll the dice on occasion.
I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and Noodles w/ Chicken which should have been just chicken noodle soup in the first place.
The reason for the confusing lingo is there are choices of meat that can go with ANY of their lunch specials including chicken, beef, shrimp, and pork with different prices on each.
The Chicken Pad Thai was delicious and up to par with what I expect.
Good nutty, sweet flavor. Noodles well seasoned and made. The portions however is SMALLER than I expect but I guess that could be because it was a lunch special.
The Noodles w/ Chicken which I ordered with rice noodles was delicious as well. Noodles well made, the broth was well seasoned and the chicken tenders well cooked. The portions was decent as well. It wasn't the biggest bowl but it sure wasn't small.
The Thai Dumplings which came with the lunch special was very tasty. I might just order these as appetizers as well next time around.
The vegetable soup tasted good BUT it tasted exactly like water mixed with a packet of instant noodle flavoring.
Come to think of it, I bet that is exactly what it was. The vegetables were fresh but I had hoped for homemade veggie soup.
PRICING –
Their lunch specials is essentially $1-$2 off their regular priced items if you were to order them after lunch hours.
Their happy hour which I don't even think it's listed isn't really "happy" except maybe for the wine which was $5-7.
Maybe they don't get many people coming here for happy hour.
I like this place, I think you will too.
Oh one last thing, CASH ONLY.
