Noodle Den

“The interior showed it had taken over a previous restaurant (Toon Thai Cafe) – so its a fledgling in a sea of grown-ups.”

“I would come back to try some of the other exotic dishes like Yen Ta Fo.”

“I just tried the Pad Kee Mao here, and it's probably the best I've had since moving from Maryland to Miami Beach (7 years).”

  1. I tried a yellow curry Chiang Mai noodle dish with large pieces of chicken in it, a sliver or two of red peppers, and crisp, uncooked soybean sprouts. The noodles were long, thin strands of yellow egg noodles. The curry was sweet, smooth, and mild.

Decent place with basic wooden tables and colored metal stools. Friendly waitresses.

I'm curious to see what other noodle dishes are like.

  2. i thought I was a bit harsh giving this place 1 star after one visit.

I got the country style noodles (hai lum.) Noodles were a bit salty. Pretty good pieces of chicken though.

Service was much better this time.

I prefer some of the other places in this area but this meal was fine.

  3. Came here on a rainy day since I was craving spicey noodle soup for lunch.  The restaurant was pretty good and service was quick. Cannot give more than 3 stars cause Thai cuisine is consistently the same to me.  Difficult to mess up and difficult to go above and beyond. Will return when I have another craving during my lunch break.

  4. Came here with coworkers and though the food itself is a bit lacking, for the price point it's actually not bad. Cant' say I'd come here regularly, but not a terrible choice given the Thai options in the area

  5. This reincarnated Toon Thai Cafe is now Noodle Den.
With simple menu focusing on the food made famous by Thai street carts.

The integrated the stainless steel street carts into their decor and the water cups and soup sproons are also stainless steel.

We stopped by for lunch and one of the chef recommended the Country Style Noodles ($10.95) with beef; tasty, fresh, with a lot of wok crispiness (wok searing). Rated 4/5.

I think my dish is better, I had the Chiang Mai Noodle ($10.95); cooked with egg noodles in mild coconut curry topped with crispy noodles and fried onions. It is a soupy dish and goes better with chicken or shrimp. I was so good we lick the bowl clean. Rated 5/5.

  6. Tried the 5 spice pork noodle soup. The broth was meh. Sweet and sour tasting, not what I expected at all and wasn't a fan. The pork was flavorful but a bit tough. Noodles were cooked properly, came with some veggies as well. Small bowl but filling. Cost me around $9/$10.

Will be back to try something else, but def wouldn't order this dish again.

  7. Solid place for Thai Noodles.

I come here for the Lahd Nah (pan fried noodles with gravy), and it is quite delicious here.  They serve it in a bowl, so that you can keep saucing the gravy.  It also comes heaping hot – yum!

The other noodles that I saw come out of here all seem solid, especially the Pad Kee Mao, which smelled very fragrant with its spice.

As this is new, there is almost never line here either.  Thus, in my opinion, this is a solid place for Thai good.

  8. It used to be Toon Thai and now renamed Noodle Den.  The menu is also completely changed.  Seems like they specialize in noodles but do offer standard Thai staples (curry etc).

I used to get the lunch special from Toon Thai and I miss it.  I've ordered take out their Pad Thai and Chicken curry.

The pad Thai is on the sweeter side with not much of that lime/sour flavor.  I heard that's how the traditional (non Americanized version) is like, which maybe true, but not what I was expecting.

The chicken curry is pretty standard and perfect for this wintry weather.

Service is a little discouraging.  The workers there did not give me the friendly Thai vibe.  One time, I was there waiting for my order and one of the servers was having an argument with a large party.  Apparently they were waiting for their food a long time and was given the wrong item.  And one of the guests mentioned she was disappointed that the restaurant didn't apologize nor give them discount for the inconvenience caused.  There were two people working and they just started cleaning plates (a sign for, leave, please) and did not show any remorse.   A simple 'sorry' would have been sufficient.  You just lost that company as a customer.

Since they are just across the street from my office, most likely I'll be back, for take out only though.
