  1. I couldn't decide what I wanted to eat and my youngest daughter wanted Udon so we ended up here. All though the food is decent I have had much better tasting and better priced. My daughter had plain udon and when I mean plain it was just udon noodles and broth and they charged me $13 for and extra $3 I would have asked for the other items they charge for with it. My daughter wanted spicy flakes to put in udon and the waitress hands me one that was all sticky because the use it at sushi bar and had almost nothing in it. The other waiter brought me a new one after he saw that . The Sushi rolls were tasty but a little skimpy for a special roll. My oldest daughter got the Oku bento box which had tempura, shrimp and scallop teriyaki and shumai and about 9 pieces of sashimi. The teriyaki sauce had a funny taste and the tempura has a somewhat slimy fried piece of zucchini . We also ordered a seaweed salad and Kani salad . Now I don't know too many place that use lettuce as a filler in Kani salad. If I wanted salad I would have ordered one. ( should be renamed Kani and lettuce salad. The seaweed salad was ok but all the seaweed was clumped together . $75 later  plus tip I walked out super disappointed . So needless to say I gave them 3 stars today because it wasn't awful and like I said before I have had much better.

  2. All rolls are amazing, but volcano, dragon, fantasy and house are one of the best. Fresh ingredients all day.

  3. Thanks to Yelp for locating this place while we were visiting/shopping for our daughter at Rutgers when she had a sushi jones attack. It's an out of the way hole in the wall at the strip mall with aesthetics to match. However, ALL of the staff, were exceeding polite and cheerful and seemed genuinely glad to see us. There were many choices on the menu and our choices, Maryland Roll and House Roll, were delicious and promptly delivered, all at a reasonable price. When we visit Rutgers again, I'd say we'll return, only this time with a bottle for the BYOB (!)

  4. How on EARTH have I not written a review for Wasabi House in my 10 years of going there?! The chef knows me by name for pete's sake!

Everything I've ever had at this restaurant is fantastic. The fish is always fresh, the rolls are interesting and yummy. They're accommodating for BYOB as well as having gluten-free soy sauce. It's such an easy choice for a small dinner with family or to catch up with friends.

They've had some changes over the years, between decor and a menu expansion. I know they had an issue with the quality of service a year or two ago, but my "regular" waiter stepped in, took over the table and all was well again.

    Oh, and they deliver!

Every time I'm home I try to make one meal here at Wasabi House. I even introduced a friend to sushi here and the response and excitement was fantastic. Thanks for all of the years of delicious food. Keep it coming!

  5. Coming from Brooklyn where rolls usually cost less than $3 for plain rolls, I was a bit disappointed by Wasabi House.  It was more expensive averaging $5-6 for regular rolls like salmon avocado and California rolls.  It was still very fresh and plated very nicely, but the price threw me off a bit.

The place overall seemed very clean, and they even have a traditional style seating area in the back.  I believe the place is BYOB, which is also another plus.

  6. This place was located in a small shopping center.  There was about 10 to 15 tables and seats at the sushi bar.  The menu was very extensive with lots of choices.  The service was friendly and the food came out very quickly.

I went with the Kiku Maki Dinner ($17.95).  The dinner consisted of soup, salad, eel roll, salmon skin roll, and yellowtail roll.  The soup and salad were what one find at traditional sushi places, no complaints regarding these.

The presentation of the rolls was nice.  They were served on a wood board one could call it.  I really enjoyed that.  For the rolls themselves, they were all solid.  The eel roll was a little different, but I enjoyed the taste.  The yellowtail and salmon skin rolls were tasty too.  They all seemed to be fresh.  I never know how to describe the taste of sushi, but I know when something does not seem right.  This was not the case here.

Will I go back?  No doubt.

  7. Wasabi house is great!!! It's definitely a hole in the wall type place, but you won't be disappointed. The sushi quality is GREAT for the price. I usually order takeout/delivery for lunch and the options are great. Very friendly service! I believe the restaurant is BYOB too… Haven't dined in in a while, but worth checking out for good sushi in east Brunswick!

  8. My offices in East Brunswick usually order from here when they want Japanese and for the East Brunswick area it definitely is pretty good. I got the peppered tuna and you get a decent amount compared to most places!! The lunch special for $15 of the teriyaki boxes comes with a lot!! I ordered the salmon (make sure you say no skin if u don't want the skin!!) it came with 3 shumai pieces, 6 pieces of a spicy salmon roll ($1 extra if you want brown rice) and chicken katsu! Oh and of course rice soup and salad so you get alottt!! Delivery is always 15-30 minutes so that's a plus!
