Good Beer

“Great place to get amazing beer, either to get a growler filled up or mix a nice six of their seemingly infinite selection.”

“For someone like me, who's always likes to try a new beer, the $8 flight allows you to sample 4.”

“Anyway, this place is a winner, and a must-go-to if you're looking for a cut above in beer buying in the East Village.”

  1. Super cool place. Amazing beer selection with many options that are not so easy to find elsewhere. The place is small but well stocked – they offer pints and flights too that you can enjoy there – not a lot of seating but the fact that it's a small place I think adds to it's charm. Nice selection of ciders – a definite plus in my book. Flights are very reasonably priced…as is everything else, really. Really nice and friendly staff too. Will definitely be back!

  2. This place is great. One of the 5 best beer shops in the city, for sure. Growlers, sixers, 4packs, 22 ozs. of all the great stuff, and a few surprises. Even in a city where bodegas and head shops now carry world-class beer, Good Beer impresses. Too bad it's not closer to my home.

  3. Yesterday afternoon, I found myself in the East Village, having no idea how I'd arrived or why I'd come. Suddenly, it dawned on me that it was time to make some additions to the craft beer stockpile I maintain in my Bushwick abode. A search of "beer" on my Yelp app revealed this near-five-star establishment less than a tenth of a mile away. No-brainer.

Walked in and was pleased to see the place stocked to the brim with top-rated and hard-to-find offerings. (Using a ton of hyphens in this review. . .getting a little nervous about that.) Right wall was fully lined with refrigerated bottles, and half of the left was covered with darker, more cellar-worthy offerings. At the center of the store, there's a nicely curated bar with six or eight or so taps. Another gentleman in the store had grabbed a pint and was walking around sipping and surveying. That'll be my move next time. There's a nice seating area in the back of the store, too.

I picked up a mixed six of IPAs I'd either not tried, or old favorites I hadn't seen in New York. If I ever find myself dazed and confused in the East Village again, I'll surely head back to Good Beer — hell, I just might even plan an intentional journey there.

  4. Great place to find some great beer both domestic and international beers.

Local neighborhood place that offers hard to find beers and ciders. They have a large array of beers in bottles and cans. Located in the Lower East Side of NYC. The beers are arranged in alphabetical order and regions. The place is small but offers a great selection. They also have a few beers on tap that you can taste and Drink there. They also have growlers that you can buy and fill up with your favorite brew.

The staff is friendly and helpful in describing and finding the right beer for you.

  5. Came back after two years and this place is till awesome. I did not get a chance to meet the owner this time but the bar staff took care of me. Super knowledgeable about the scene in general in NYC and they made sure I drank well when I was there.

This is a cool bottle shop and tap combo. Drank a lot of local IPAs from Singlecut and Other Half and bought a MBC Lunch to go. Low key and fun to chill out. Probably best to think of this as not a true "bar" though.

  6. Well stocked bottle store with a dozen beers on tap.  The guys in the store were friendly and helped us select a local brew.  There is a small seating area in the back to enjoy a drink and gossip about Game of Thrones.

  7. Wonderful selection of bottles and cans – one of the best in Manhattan! Wish that they were a little more convenient because I would be here all the time. The guys who work here are super friendly and helpful – they were happy to chat with customers, and when they didn't have a specific beer that I was looking for, they gave me ideas of other shops in the area that might have it, as well as when they expected their distributor to come back with more.

They have a card minimum of $10, and don't take AmEx, but I feel like that's not so unusual. Overall, great shopping experience here, and I'm definitely planning to come back next time I'm searching for a specific beer!

  8. Absolutely fantastic little location here! Came here for beer week and they had an absolutely fantastic collection of beer. Their four rare crafts were two IPAS, one double IPA and one Stout. The Gone Away and the Daisy Cutter were sharp with a very nice follow through. Not nearly as good as the Double Daisy IPA though, this was a deep and rich flavor, with a smooth and almost spicy after taste. Then we get to my favorite, the Big Hugs IMP. Stout. Wow this was absolutely fantastic I loved this. The stout opened with a rich chocolate (nonsweetened) taste, then it flows over into a smooth coffee-esque finish. Absolutely fantastic.

Beyond their great rare beers, the location was fantastic. I absolutely loved the setup, with hundreds of craft beer lining the shelves, with about 8 beers on tap. Delicious and remarkable, worth going back daily.
