Time for the weekend bagel run. Today it's Barbara's Bagels. This is a relatively small storefront just north of the Expressway on Willis Ave.
Now, as for the bagels, they were big and fluffy (see the photo posted). However, they were cold. I know I should have asked if I wanted them toasted by I wasn't expecting them to be cool to the touch. Just a little bit doughy but not too much. Just enough cream cheese too (did I mention I love cream cheese?) I probably would have added a star if the bagels were warm.
They had a decent supply of bagels behind the counter (even if they were a little cool to the touch). It's a decent bagel shop.
I'll go with a single thumb up for Barbara's Bagels based on today's experience.
This place is kinda divey looking and the meat in the deli case looks suspect but that's not the reason I came. Bagels were decent if not unremarkable. The spreads were also decent with normal portion sizes. Is this my favorite bagel shop? No, but it's a good place if you want to get a decent bagel.
