Saw a groupon for Miss Saigon Express Vietnamese food and looked it up on Yelp. 4 stars, awesome!! Purchased groupon and then I realized after getting the food last night that it was a different Miss Saigon 🙁
This Miss Saigon Express is inside the Kam Man grocery store with the other food court counters. It's not super easy to find but it's on the corner. It is closed on Monday afternoons. There are a few tables where you can eat your food on site if you wanted.
It is run by a Chinese couple. The man behind the counter was not the friendliest and was very persistent in speaking to me in Chinese even though I spoke to him in English. It's fine. I am bilingual but it's a bit weird that he didn't even ask me if I understand/speak Chinese.
With $30 + ~$2 tax, I got 4 dishes. Rice with grilled pork chops #15 (3-4 thin slices). It came with some lettuce and cucumber slices along with tomato and the fish sauce. Another rice box #18 (do not recommend) with 2 grilled pork chops + a piece of meat omelette and some glass rice noodle that tasted very salty/fishy. This was not good. The pork chops could have been flavored more strongly but was ok. The last two boxes consisted of cold rice noodles salad + grilled chicken + spring roll. The fried spring rolls were cut to bite sized (~6) and were pretty good. Underneath the rice noodle, there was lettuce and steamed bean sprouts. This wasn't bad but the sauce was very bland so the rice noodle was very flavorless. The chicken was ok – a bit dry and again flavorless.
Not sure if i'll ever go back but the price of everything were between $6 to $7. Maybe give their pho a try if I am adventurous.. or just try the Chinese stall next to this one.
